The ‘Unapologetically’ singer tells haters to ‘politely shut up’ as she responds to the backlash over her country performance with Halsey at the recent CMT Music Awards.

    Oct 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Singer Kelsea Ballerini has urged critics to “politely shut up” after becoming frustrated with the hateful comments she received for her sexy performance with Halsey at the 2020 CMT Music Awards.
The two artists teamed up on Wednesday (21Oct20) to deliver a rendition of their collaboration “The Other Girl” in a Coyote Ugly-inspired set, in which they wore black leather outfits and danced atop a bar.
The appearance drew some backlash from more conservative country music fans, who hit out at the pair via social media, but Ballerini is refusing to let the rude comments slide.

Sharing a photo of herself giving the camera the thumbs-up, she posted, “After reading way too many comments, I’d like to remind people that there are different kinds of country music and none are more ‘real’ than others when it comes from an honest place, that women can wear whatever we want and shouldn’t be called names and criticized for it, and that if you don’t have something nice to say, politely shut up.”
Ballerini was applauded by her fans and a number of her country music peers, including Mickey Guyton, Lindsay Ell, and Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, who remarked, “Love you Kelsea. You’re a bad a**. You do you. Always.”
And prizegiving bosses at CMT also showed their support for the star, with a representative adding, “We love YOU for you. Always.”
The 2020 CMT Awards also featured performances by Noah Cyrus, Shania Twain, Maren Morris, and Gabby Barrett. The biggest winner of the night was Carrie Underwood who took home the coveted Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year.

“Manic” was a massive hit on both sides of the pond upon its release in January and spawned the hits “Without Me”, “Graveyard”, and “You Should Be Sad”.
The number “929” referred to her exact birthday as she was born on September 29, 1994 at 9:29 A.M. She explained before the album release, “I really was born at 9:29 a.m. on 9/29. You think I’m lying, but I’m being dead serious. [Laughs] I’ll prove it.”
She also said she wrote the album during a manic episode of her bipolar disorder. She described the mania as “that thing in the back of our minds that drives us to outrageous thoughts. Like when you’re driving a car and you’re like [she mimes suddenly cutting over the wheel], or you’re on top of a building, and you’re like, ‘What if I just jump?’ You are controlled by those impulses rather than logic and reason.”

The ‘Without Me’ hitmaker calls out the Canadian rapper as she is eating snacks from her Spotify plaques after reaching three billion streams on the streaming platform.
    Sep 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Halsey enjoyed an outdoor feast from her award plaques as she celebrated three billion Spotify streams on Monday (21Sep20).
The two-time Grammy nominee, who recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of the release of her debut studio album “Badlands”, took to social media to share her latest achievement.
In her post, the star ate snacks and candy from two of her Spotify plaques – one for one billion streams of the 2016 Chainsmokers song “Closer”, on which she’s featured, and another for her 2018 single “Without Me” – each of which featured a round silver dish with the Spotify logo.
As the camera panned up from the table, the hitmaker was seen enjoying a glass of rose wine as she said, “And they owe me one more too,” seemingly referring to her 2018 track “Eastside”, on which she collaborated with Khalid and Benny Blanco, which also surpassed a billion streams.

The “Manic” star captioned the video, “2 outta 3 of my billion plaques received. Check mate @champagnepapi thank you @spotify.” Her mention of Drake comes after he posted a similar video of himself eating pasta out of his Spotify award for a billion streams on his 2018 single “In My Feelings”.

He captioned his clip, “We drank out of Grammys now you need a BILL to eat off the plate @spotify.”
The “Hotline Bling” hitmaker became the most-streamed artist of the decade on Spotify last December, with more than 28 billion streams, having released nearly 200 songs on the streaming platform since 2010.

Halsey Calls New Album a Love Letter to Her Bipolar Disorder

    Instagram

The ‘Without Me’ singer says she made peace with her mental illness during the making of her third studio album appropriately called ‘Manic’ which was released in January.
    May 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Halsey has opened up about accepting her bipolar disorder in a new YouTube series for Mental Health Awareness Month, May 2020.
The “Without Me” singer took part in the Artist Spotlight Stories with psychologist Snehi Kapur and discussed finally making peace with herself after being diagnosed in her teens and experiencing drastic moodswings.
“In the process of making this album, I had to make peace with this manic version of myself,” she said of recording her latest release, Manic, which reached listeners in January, noting the album is a “love letter” to bipolar disorder.
Halsey, who was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for a 17-day stay after attempting suicide at the aged of 17, moved on to discuss the difficult social problems she’s had to navigate while managing her own mental health. “I think that our culture, in a way, has an obsession and a distaste for the ‘crazy woman,’ ” she said. “We love her but we also weaponise that word against her… The way that they (media) can take the narrative away from you after you’ve chosen to share it is what’s one of the most terrifying parts.”
Halsey is also often puzzled by fans who insist she doesn’t look like someone with mental health struggles. “They see a young woman who’s achieving all of these goals,” she explained.

Halsey's Swiss Concert Postponed Amid Coronavirus Outbreak, Avril Lavigne's in Jeopardy

    WENN/Mario Mitsis/Instar

Swiss officials have come out with an announcement that the country ‘has decided that all events with over 1,000 guests are not allowed to take place until at least March 15.’
    Feb 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Halsey and Avril Lavigne’s concerts in Switzerland are in jeopardy after the country banned major public events in a bid to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
Any event attracting a crowd of more than 1,000 will not be allowed to go ahead until 15 March, Swiss officials announced on Friday, February 28.
The “Bad at Love” singer is scheduled to perform at Samsung Hall in Zurich on Monday, but the gig is now not going ahead on that date, according to venue chiefs. Avril is due to perform there on 13 March.
“The Federal Council has decided that all events with over 1,000 guests are not allowed to take place until at least March 15, 2020,” a statement on the Samsung Hall website reads. “At the moment we do not have all the information from organizers on how to proceed with the shows in the Samsung Hall.”
They went on to say that Halsey’s gig “will not take place” on Monday – but they will look to arrange another date with the singer. They are yet to provide any information on whether Avril’s concert will be rearranged or cancelled.

Sam Fender, due to perform in Zurich on Sunday, and Gregory Porter, due to play in the city on Friday, are also among the artists affected.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Switzerland has risen to 15, with more than 100 people in quarantine. The virus has now spread across the world, with major outbreaks in South Korea, Japan, and Italy prompting the cancellation of gigs.
More than 83,000 people had contracted the disease, a deadly virus related to influenza, with more than 2,800 fatalities. Most cases to date have been in China, where the outbreak originated.
