    WENN/Patricia Schlein

‘Rhythm Nation 1814’ and ‘Illmatic’ are just two of the 25 recordings being deemed to be ‘worthy of preservation for all time’ in the country’s Library of Congress.

    Mar 25, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Classic albums by Janet Jackson and Nas have been chosen for preservation for generations to come in America’s Library of Congress.

National Recording Registry officials have revealed Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation 1814” release from 1989, 1994’s “Illmatic” by Nas, “LaBelle”‘s 1974 version of Lady Marmalade, and Kool & the Gang’s 1980 hit “Celebration are all” “worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation’s recorded sound heritage.”

Also making the cut are Jimmy Cliff’s album “The Harder They Come”, Jackson Browne’s “Late for the Sky”, “Born Under a Bad Sign” by Albert King, Pat Metheny’s “Bright Size Life”, and “Free to Be…You & Me” from Marlo Thomas and Friends.

Louis Armstrong & His Orchestra’s 1938 recording of “When the Saints Go Marching In”, and Connie Smith’s “Once a Day” single have also been selected for entry, alongside Kermit the Frog’s “The Rainbow Connection” as one of the 25 new inductees, billed as the selection for 2020.

Library of Congress representative Carla Hayden says, “The National Recording Registry will preserve our history through these vibrant recordings of music and voices that have reflected our humanity and shaped our culture from the past 143 years.”

“We received about 900 public nominations this year for recordings to add to the registry, and we welcome the public’s input as the Library of Congress and its partners preserve the diverse sounds of history and culture.”

Last year’s list of inductees included Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic”, Tina Turner’s “Private Dancer”, Whitney Houston’s famous 1992 version of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You”, Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.”, and Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman”.

Janet Jackson Documentary In the Works for 2022

    WENN

A major four-hour project, which is tentatively called ‘Janet’, is reportedly being developed to chronicle the life and career of the ‘Rhythm Nation’ singer.

    Mar 5, 2021
AceShowbiz – Janet Jackson is the latest pop superstar to get the documentary treatment – Lifetime and A&E bosses in the U.S. will simulcast a new four-hour film across two nights in 2022.
The movie, tentatively titled “Janet”, will hit the small screen to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Jackson’s debut album.
The documentary will chronicle her “musical success as well as her tumultuous private life,” according to a press release, and the reclusive star will discuss her controversial 2004 Super Bowl appearance with Justin Timberlake, when she flashed a breast, and the death of her brother, Michael.
Deadline sources claim bosses at British production company Workerbee have been filming Jackson for over three years and have been granted exclusive access to archival footage, which will appear in the film.

Meanwhile, Justin recently apologized to Janet and former girlfriend Britney Spears for “failing” in his treatment of both women in the past.
It was the NSYNC star who ripped off part of Janet’s corset, causing her boob to be exposed at the Super Bowl. He, however, distanced himself from the incident, leaving Janet to bear the brunt of the fallout which has plagued her career ever since.
“I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right,” he said. “I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”
Janet hasn’t responded to his apology. Instead, she addressed her fans by thanking them for their support as her album “Control” was back at the top of the chart after 35 years.

Janet Jackson Gushes Over Teyana Taylor as the Latter Reveals New Career After Music Retirement

    Instagram

This arrives after Teyana, who celebrated her 30th birthday on December 10, reveals a new career path after announcing earlier this month that she decided to hang up her mic for good.

    Dec 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Teyana Taylor has received overwhelming support after hinting at retirement from music as she feels being underrated. Among those who raved about how amazing she is as an artist was Janet Jackson, who penned a lengthy message for the “Gonna Love Me” singer on Instagram on Thursday, December 10 in honor of Teyana’s 30th birthday.
Alongside a picture of her with the wife of Iman Shumpert, the “Escapade” songtress wrote in the caption, “Teyana, you have an undeniable gift from God. Don’t ever let that go.” She went on saying, “You bring something so special to the industry and you continue to have such an impact on this world.”
Trying to convince Teyana not to quit music, Janet continued, “Imagine if I gave up after my first or second album didn’t hit #1, or win any awards? We do this for the love, the passion and the fans. Never forget, a talent like yours is unstoppable.” Concluding her message, the sister of Michael Jackson added, “I luv you and know that I’m here for you always. I hope you enjoy your special day. #BlackGirlMagic.”

Teyana caught wind of the sweet shout-out and quickly replied in the comment section. “ima go and cry…. BRB!” so the “How You Want It?” wrote. Also leaving comments under the post were Ciara and Taraji P. Henson. While Ciara left three red heart emojis, the “Hidden Figures” actress wrote, “We are our sister’s keeper!!! BEAUTIFUL! #queensliftqueens.”

This arrives after Teyana announced a new career path after deciding to hang up her mic for good. “Dirty 30 and its time make some more BIG moves. Remember when I said ‘when one door closes another one opens..either that or I’m picking the locks’? Well I damn sure did,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
“I am proud to announce that I have officially been named CREATIVE DIRECTOR of @prettylittlething. We’re going to be collaborating on some amazing projects together and i cannot wait to get started! What a way to bring some positive vibes & more #blackgirlmagic into 2021! Happy birthday to me!” she announced.

Teyana shocked fans earlier this month when she announced about her plan on quiting music. “I ain’t gone front in times of feeling super under appreciated as a artist, receiving little to no real push from the ‘machine’, constantly getting the shorter end of the stick,” she wrote. “Being overlooked, I mean the list on and on lol.. I’m retiring this chapter of my story with the comfort that i can depart with peace of mind seeing that all the hard work & passion put in was indeed loved & supported somewhere in the world!”
She later clarified her statement about the retirement, explaining that the issue was with her label rather than with the Grammys. “I asked Def Jam to drop me on almost 10 different occasions. Straight to the face. Up in the building,” she revealed. “At this point, I can’t let this kill me. Granted, to my fans, I think that, you know — and I can see how my message can come across but at the same time, I feel like it’s a tiny bit selfish to say, ‘What about your fans? Do it for your fans.’ Baby, I gotta do it for my mental health. I have to do it for my emotional health. I have to do it for my kids so I can stay alive for my kids.”

  • Swizz Beatz Sends Love to Janet Jackson Following Shady Comments Regarding 'Verzuz'

    WENN/Ivan Nikolov/Jason Mendez

Swizz previously caught heat after he appeared to dismiss Janet when discussing the idea of having the ‘When I Think of You’ singer going against Missy Elliott in a song battle.
    Sep 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Swizz Beatz has responded to the backlash he receives over his comments on Janet Jackson when discussing the idea of having Janet going against Missy Elliott on “Verzuz”. While Timbaland loved the idea, Swizz didn’t think Janet had the “vault” for it, much to fans’ dismay. Now, he appears to clarify his statements.
Commenting underneath The Shade Room’s post about the matter, the husband of Alicia Keys explained, “LETS BE CLEAR. I don’t think Missy & Janet is a good match up at all! Much love to Janet she’s ICON but I just didn’t feel that was a good match up.” He went on saying, “Janet got hits on hits but she should have a better person to celebrate with that’s all. Blessings….”
Swizz later doubled down on his remarks in an Instagram comment in a separate post. “Better person meaning someone who match the vibe better to all who still don’t understand,” he wrote.

Upon reading Swizz’s explanation, some fan defended him. “I totally got exactly what you meant. That wasn’t gonna be a good match up. Two totally different vibes. Let’s think back to Missy era and who was out at that time that she was competing with. That’s where you’ll find your match up at. I think @janetjackson and @beyonce who be a good match up. Old school hit R&B with semi old school,” one fan reacted.
Someone else suggested that it would be great if Janet and Lil’ Kim have a face-off, writing, “Janet and little Kim would be good they should be on that wap song it would be.” However, a user didn’t change his/her mind and continued to slam Swizz. “You’re always saying and doing stupid s**t just like your marriages,” said the person.
Swizz enraged Janet’s fans after he said, “Because Missy can be multiple people. Janet gonna just be Janet,” during an Instagram Live session with Timbaland. After his name was trending on Twitter, Missy herself weighed in on the matter. She wrote on the blue bird app on Monday, September 14, “Lol I was home watching Janet when she was already a SUPA Star so that tells you how BIG her vault of hits is.”

Janet Jackson Is Getting Her Own Biopic

    Instagram

Auditions for the movie project based on the life story of the ‘All for You’ singer have reportedly begun before the coronavirus outbreak, but now things have come to a halt.
    Apr 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Janet Jackson is the latest celebrity to get her own movie. The R&B singer, who rose as a prominent figure in popular culture in the 1980s-1990s, is reportedly going to have her life story brought to the screen with a biopic.
According to theJasmineBRAND which first reported the news, the movie project is being finalized and auditions had already begun before the coronavirus outbreak hit the U.S. However, similar to what happened to other Hollywood film projects, development on the Janet biopic has come to a halt due to the pandemic.
Other details, such as who is penning the script and at which studio the film is being set up, are currently not available. Since the site which came with the report is a celebrity gossip site instead of a reliable movie news outlet, the news of the possible Janet biopic should be taken with a grain of salt.
Janet is the youngest of ten Jackson children born to Katherine Esther and Joseph Walter Jackson. She started her career with her appearance on variety television series “The Jacksons” in 1976 and went on to appear on other television shows throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, including “Good Times”, “Diff’rent Strokes” and “Fame”.
She landed her first recording contract in 1982 with A&M Records and became a pop icon following the release of her third fourth studio albums “Control” (1986) and “Rhythm Nation” 1814 (1989). Among her many hits are “Nasty”, “Rhythm Nation”, “That’s the Way Love Goes”, “Together Again” and “All for You”. As of now, the younger sister of Michael Jackson still holds the record for the most consecutive top-ten entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart by a female artist with 18.
Janet took a hiatus on touring in 2016 as she announced her plans to start a family with her then-husband Wissam Al Mana. She gave birth to her first child, a son named Eissa Al Mana, in January 2017. The 53-year-old artist then resumed her “Unbreakable World Tour”, now known as the “State of the World Tour”, in September of the same year.
In February of this year, Janet announced “Black Diamond World Tour” as well as her upcoming twelfth studio album “Black Diamond” due sometime in 2020. It’s unknown how the current situation will affect the tour, which is scheduled to kick off in the summer.
