Fans totally approve of the show’s decision to have the game show’s champion as the first guest host as one fan even suggests that Ken will also fit to be the new permanent host of the show.

    Nov 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Sony Pictures Television has announced that “Jeopardy!” will resume production weeks after the passing of host Alex Trebek. It has also been revealed that the popular game show’s champ Ken Jennings will be serving as a guest host for the first few episodes.
In an Instagram post on Monday, November 23, the show’s executive producer Mike Richards shared a statement which read, “Alex believed in the importance of Jeopardy! and always said that he wanted the show to go on after him.” He continued, “We will honor his legacy by continuing to produce the game he loved.”
“We will resume production on 11/30 with a series of interim guest hosts from the Jeopardy! family — starting with Ken Jennings,” the show further announced in the caption. “Additional guest hosts to be announced.”

Following the announcement, Ken took to his Twitter account to share his feelings for the honor. “There will only ever be one Alex Trebek, but I’m honored to be helping Jeopardy! out with this in January,” so he tweeted.

Ken Jennings reacted to him being chosen as the first guest host of ‘Jeopardy!’.
Fans totally approved of the show’s decision to have Ken as the first guest host. “I always knew that having you on my podcast 6 years ago would be a career springboard for you. But seriously, Jeopardy is lucky to have you. Trebek would be proud. Congratulations,” a fan wrote to him.
Someone even suggested that the “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” winner and 74-time champion should be a new permanent host, taking over Alex’s hosting duties. “The only problem I have with this news is the term ‘interim’. When Alex passed, you were the only person I thought of who could even attempt to fill his shoes. I hope interim eventually turns to permanent. Good luck!” said the fan.
Alongside LeVar Burton, Ken was among the names that people mentioned as fit candidates for the show’s new host. Fans even launched a petition for LeVar to be chosen as the new host. In response to that, the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” star wrote on Twitter earlier this month, “Even if nothing comes from it, I can’t tell how much how I appreciate all y’alls love and support!”
Alex, who had been fronting “Jeopardy!” since 1984, passed away on Sunday, November 8 at the age of 80. A spokesperson for the popular quiz show confirmed the sad news, “Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends.”

LeVar Burton Appreciates Fans' Petition for Him to Replace Alex Trebek on 'Jeopardy!'

    WENN/Nicky Nelson

A Change.org petition, which has been signed by more than 36,000 people as of now, claims that the ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ alum has ‘inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds.’

    Nov 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – In the wake of Alex Trebek’s passing, fans of “Jeopardy!” have been wondering who will be taking over his hosting duty on the popular game show. Among those whose names were mentioned as the recommended new host was actor and children’s TV host LeVar Burton.
While the show has yet to announce plans for a new host as the crew is still grieving, fans launched a petition to make the 63-year-old, who is known for his role as Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge on “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, the new host. The Change.org petition, which has been signed by more than 36,000 people as of now, claimed that Burton “inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds.”
“This petition is to show Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and producers Mike Richards and Harry Friedman just how much love the public has for Burton, and how much we’d all love to see him as the next host of Jeopardy!” it continued.
Burton himself has reacted to the fans’ petition. Taking to his Twitter account, Burton wrote to his followers on Thursday, November 12, “Even if nothing comes from it, I can’t tell how much how I appreciate all y’alls love and support!”

Fans were more than happy to see Burton’s response to the petition. “This would be great. In my upbringing as a millennial you are as big of a figure to me as Mr. Rogers or Sesame Street. Reading Rainbow was a pillar of my childhood, to see you take the reins on Jeopardy would be a well-deserved honor,” one said. Another excited fan wrote, “Trebek was a humble man who said anyone could host Jeopardy. In truth, only one person alive could assume the holy pulpit of trivia, and that’s @levarburton.”
“You are the only one for the job. You meant so much to my generation as host of Reading Rainbow and your role on TNG. It is only fitting now that we are adults that we get to see you host Jeopardy,” another comment read. However, someone was against the idea, saying, “This is the wrong way and you should not be the next host for Jeopardy. Alex chose Ken Jennings and that’s the next host in my opinion.”
Trebek passed away on Sunday, November 8 at the age of 80. A spokesperson for the popular quiz show confirmed the sad news, ” ‘Jeopardy!’ is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends.”

Fans Losing It After 'Jeopardy!' Contestant Mistakes Janet Jackson for Ariana Grande

    WENN

People on the Internet are laughing out loud over contestant Alwin Hui’s epic fail to recognize the recipient of the 2018 Icon Award in an April 29 episode of the game show.
    May 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Having a music career that has spanned over four decades and eleven studio albums apparently doesn’t make Janet Jackson a household name to all Americans. At least, she’s not to a “Jeopardy!” contestant, who has successfully made viewers erupt into laughter with his epic fail to recognize the R&B super star.
In a Wednesday, April 29 episode of the long-running game show, for a question in the Music Awards category, contestants were given this clue, “As the recipient of the 2018 Icon Award, she took ‘Control’ and took to the stage in her first live TV performance in nearly a decade,” as the screen showed the “Together Again” singer’s performance at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.
Alwin Hui, one of the contestants, without a beat rang in with his answer, “Who is Ariana Grande?” before another competitor correctly answered Janet. Alwin’s wrong answer sent Twitter abuzz with their confusion over how he could mistake the music icon with the much-younger singer.

“What a FAIL [laughing emoji] Really my guy got Ariana Grande & Janet Jackson mixed you on Jeopardy,” one person reacted on the blue bird application. Another confused viewer wrote, “First live performance in nearly a decade’ he thought miss grande was old lmfaoooo.” Ariana was only 24 years old in 2018, which would make her 14 years old during her supposed last live televised performance.
Someone suggested that Janet’s long, high ponytail in the photo confused Alwin as Ariana is also known for the signature hairstyle. “The pony really threw him off,” the fan tweeted along with a crying emoji. Another speculated, “I guess the dress and boots are also very Ari-esque. Plus he doesn’t seem like he’d know who Janet Jackson is,” while someone else added, “Absolutely unforgivable lmfao.”
This is not the only epic fail that was seen on “Jeopardy!” this week. In a Monday episode of the show, Sarah Jett Rayburn mistook Zulu warrior leader Shaka Zulu for singer Chaka Khan. Interestingly, two days later Sarah correctly answered Janet on the show.
Weighing in on the double mix-up, pop-culture writer Bradley Stern pointed out that two egregious mistakes in one week meant “our nation’s nerds” needed to study up on their music herstory. Seemingly agreeing, one person tweeted, “Jeopardy has been disrespecting the legends this week.”

'Jeopardy!' and 'Wheel of Fortune' Decide to Tape Without Audience Due to Coronavirus Outbreak

It is further said that the production team of each show makes the decision considering that most of the audience members of both ‘Jeopardy!’ and ‘Wheel of Fortune’ are people in their 60s.
    Mar 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” are taking preventive measures in light of Coronavirus disease. The two of the most popular TV shows reportedly will start taping without live audience as of Tuesday, March 10 since the virus continues to spread throughout many countries.
A source reveals to TMZ that the production behind “Jeopardy!” is concerned with the well-being of host Alex Trebex, who is currently battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He has a compromised immused system from chemotherapy and other treatments and the executives think that it will be too risky to expose him to large audiences.
It is also said that they make the decision considering that most of the audience members of both “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” are people in their 60s. It has been reported that most deaths because of Coronavirus happened to old patients who also had other illness.
The fact that most of them are coming from out of town is also among the reasons why they will no longer tape with audience. The production deems the travel risky and thinks that it will give a potential mean for the virus to spread.
According to the Centers of Disease Control, there are 423 confirmed cases in the U.S. so far. It is reported that 29 of which were spread from person to person. The agency says that those at risk of becoming very sick from the virus include older adults and those who have “serious chronic medical conditions.”
“Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” are the latest shows being affected by the Coronavirus outbreak. Prior to this, music and entertainement festival SXSW announced its cancellation. “The City of Austin has cancelled the March dates for SXSW… SXSW will faithfully follow the City’s directions,” a statement from festival organizers read on Friday, March 6. “We are devastated to share this news with you… This is the first time in 34 years that the March event will not take place. We are now working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation.”
The announcement came after news that Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, Amazon, Apple and TikTok chiefs had all pulled their presentations from the event.
