AceShowbiz – Jim Carrey is in talks to portray Donald Trump’s U.S. presidential opponent, Joe Biden, when sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live” returns to TV for a 45th season next month (Oct20).
Alec Baldwin will reprise his role as the President on the show while former “SNL” regular Maya Rudolph will be back as Biden’s running mate and potential vice president Kamala Harris, and the programme’s long-running executive producer, Lorne Michaels, reveals he’s close to landing Carrey as Barack Obama’s number two.
“Maya Rudolph is coming back, and Alec will be back, and I think Jim Carrey is going to do Biden,” Lorne tells Vulture. “There was some interest on his part. And then we responded, obviously, positively. But it came down to discussions about what the take was. He and (SNL regular) Colin Jost had a bunch of talks. He and I as well. He will give the part energy and strength.”
Biden was previously portrayed by Jason Sudeikis on the sketch show.
“Saturday Night Live” will return to TV screens on 3 October (20).

    Feb 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jim Carrey knew his “Saturday Night Live” audition was doomed when he arrived at the studio as a page was contemplating suicide.
“The Mask” star made his mark on TV comedy sketch show “In Living Color”, but he tanked his “SNL” try out – and he reveals all the signs were there it was not going to go well.
“I got out at NBC in the (San Fernando) Valley and I was like, ‘Gosh, I hope this is a lucky day for me’,” he tells “Lights Out” host David Spade. “I walked out of my car, closed the door, and I heard, ‘Don’t do it! Don’t jump!'”

Jim Carrey Credits Trailer Backlash for Making 'Sonic the Hedgehog' Better

    WENN/Instar

The live-action adaptation of the SEGA console game has undergone changes at the titular character’s looks after its teaser, which was released in April, drew negative reactions from fans.
    Feb 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jim Carrey is glad fans spoke out against the initial trailer for his new “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie.
The teaser for the film, which stars Carrey as the computer-animated rodent’s nemesis, Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik, was released in April, but devotees of the original SEGA console game expressed dismay at the character’s looks, and the addition of human-like teeth in particular.
Following the controversy, Sonic’s director Jeff Fowler, tweeted, “The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen,” and a new, cartoonish version was revealed in a second trailer last November (2019).
Speaking to Fox News, the star said of the controversy: “It turned out to be a co-op where everybody was in on the creation.”
“I think everybody felt good about it ultimately because (director) Jeff Fowler (had) no ego involved at all. He just went, ‘These people grew up with it, and it’s important to them that we get it right.’ And I think it was just a much better movie because of it.”
The “Bruce Almighty” actor added that he doesn’t create characters “based on what people are saying,” but that he also felt elements of the film weren’t “quite in the pocket” until being reworked.
“It was my concern, as well,” he admitted. “(But) it turned out fantastic.”
“Sonic the Hedgehog” is out now.
