    Jodie Turner-Smith 'Gave It All' During 'Without Remorse' Filming Despite Being Pregnant

    The ‘Queen and Slim’ actress talks about the challenges of filming her new action movie, claiming her pregnancy added ‘a layer of complexity’ to her role.

    Jodie Turner-Smith’s pregnancy added “a layer of complexity” to her starring role in action film “Without Remorse”.

    The 34-year-old actress stars as Lt. Commander Karen Greer in the movie based on Tom Clancy’s novel and opened up about the challenges of filming while she was expecting her baby daughter.

    Jodie, who welcomed 12-month-old Janie to the world with husband, actor Joshua Jackson in April 2020, said, “(Training) wasn’t straightforward because I was pregnant, so that definitely added a layer of complexity to it. But I went after it. I gave it all of myself.”

    The “Queen & Slim” star continued, “We worked really closely with these guys on set who were there to teach us how to operate in combat, how to move with and around each other, how to talk to each other.”

    “We’re emulating guys who have been working together, alongside each other for years, so there needed to be a sense of familiarity and comfort and ease to how they work together.”

    Jodie also revealed how her pregnancy made it more difficult to shoot underwater stunts.

    She told Variety, “I don’t know if you know this, but when you are pregnant, it’s very hard to hold your breath. So, I had unique challenges that my co-stars didn’t have.”

    Turner-Smith also loved having the opportunity to play a trailblazing character in the form of a female Navy SEAL.

    She explained, “I love that filmmakers wanted to create this character, to envision this woman. There’s not a female Navy SEAL right now, but there will be soon. I feel that is what we’re moving towards.”

    “It felt very cool to embody this a little bit ahead of the curve. And to hopefully honour and bring a good representation to women around the world who are serving in the armed forces right now.”

      The mother of one talks about her experience of filming action movie while she’s pregnant with her first child, saying it’s not something she’d want to endure again.

      Actress Jodie Turner-Smith would think twice before making another action movie while pregnant after pushing herself on the set of “Without Remorse”.

      The “Queen & Slim” star – who shares 11-month-old daughter Janie with husband Joshua Jackson – plays Navy SEAL Karen Greer in the Tom Clancy film adaptation and, although she did her best to look after herself during the gruelling shoot, it’s not something she’d want to endure if she has another baby.

      She said, “I had to look after myself. In hindsight, would I do an action movie while pregnant again? Definitely not.”

      “It’s so often taken for granted when women have children that you just push through and keep going and you can’t slow down, when in all reality you have to give yourself as much time and space as possible.”

      However, Jodie doesn’t have any regrets about taking on the challenge of “Without Remorse”, “I’m glad I did it, it was an experience, but my body needed a lot more rest and relaxation than I was giving it.”

      That was partly because Jodie wasn’t able to skip many of the high-octane sequences.

      She told Total Film, “I didn’t get the chance to sit out many action scenes! Stefano (Sollima, director) likes to capture as much as he can with the actors. So when it came to explosions and stuff like that, we were really in there.”

      “There’s an intense scene with the plane. When we filmed that, there were certain things with hydraulics and shaking that I wouldn’t do because of my baby, but when it came to being blown up and being in a gun fight, I did it. I had a knife fight as well.”

      And Jodie found it particularly “tough” because there were so few women on set.

      “There was one other woman in the cast. And I did it when I was pregnant! It was tough,” she admitted. “Everyone was obviously supportive, but men don’t have the same priorities that women do, and don’t understand what a woman’s body is going through.”

      “So you try to bridge the gap with as much communication as possible.”

      “Without Remorse” also stars Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell. It’s set for release on streaming service Amazon on 30 April (21).

      AceShowbiz – British actress Jodie Turner-Smith is to play Anne Boleyn in a groundbreaking new TV series about British monarch Henry VIII’s second wife.
      The “Queen & Slim” star, who is of Jamaican heritage, will play Anne in the new three-part psychological thriller, which will air on U.K. network Channel 5, according to Deadline.
      With the working title “Anne Boleyn”, the show will reportedly follow her downfall from Henry’s much loved Queen to her beheading, and shine a feminist light on the brutal reality of a patriarchal Tudor society.
      It will also examine how her failure to give Henry a male heir affected her standing and her battle to secure the future of her daughter, the future Queen Elizabeth I.

      On taking on the role, Turner-Smith says, “Delving deeper into Anne Boleyn’s immense strengths while examining her fatal weaknesses and vulnerabilities, Eve’s scripts immediately captured my imagination.”
      Producers Faye Ward and Hannah Farrell, add: “We feel that history has side-lined the voice of this ambitious Queen in favour of the men who brought her down, and that Lynsey Miller’s beautiful, intimate vision will put Anne’s gaze at the heart of the piece.”
      An air date for the show, made by ViacomCBS, is yet to be announced.
      Jodie Turner-Smith, 34, took a break this year as she’s pregnant with her first child. She gave birth to a baby girl in April, four months after she tied the knot with Joshua Jackson.
      She was last seen on the big screen last year with “Queen & Slim” and on TV with “Jett”. Her next movies include action thriller “Without Remorse” and sci-fi drama “After Yang”.

      Posing a photo of herself sporting an arm sling, the pregnant ‘Queen and Slim’ star expressed her disappointment to miss out on the first year she is actually being invited to the event.

      AceShowbiz – An arm injury has wrecked pregnant Jodie Turner-Smith’s Oscars weekend plans.
      The 33-year-old mum-to-be took to Twitter on Thursday, February 06 and posted a photo of herself sporting a sling.
      “So i have decided to sit my pregnant bum down and out of this weekends oscar festivities (sic)!” the “Queen & Slim” star wrote. “First of all, a b**ch needs to put her feet up after that delightful #QueenAndSlim uk press run. and second of all, this is me right now.”

      Turner-Smith is around seven months pregnant with her first child.
      The actress, who is married to “Dawson’s Creek” star Joshua Jackson added: “so while i’m sad that i’ll be missing out on my first year actually being invited & not having to scam my way into vanity fair, Madonna’s, & the jayzXbeyonce party, i don’t think this arm sling would have been cute w/ any of the lewks (looks) i was planning.”

      She didn’t expand on how she had injured her arm.
