  • 'Jurassic World: Dominion' Halts Production After Positive Covid-19 Tests

Director Colin Trevorrow reveals he was forced to shut down production of the next installment of the rebooted ‘Jurassic Park’ movie franchise due to positive coronavirus tests.
    Oct 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Jurassic World: Dominion” director Colin Trevorrow has been forced to press pause on production for two weeks after a number of positive coronavirus tests on set.
Filming on the action blockbuster was initially shut down in March (20) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but resumed in the U.K. in July, under strict health and safety protocols.
In August, as the shoot moved to Malta, it was reported Trevorrow had to scale back his production plans after four crewmembers tested positive for the virus, and on Wednesday (07Oct20), he revealed the latest issue to affect the movie.
“Woke up to the news we had a few positive Coronavirus tests on Jurassic World: Dominion,” he told Twitter followers.

“All tested negative shortly after, but due to our safety protocols we’re going to pause for two weeks. Back soon.”
Trevorrow has around three weeks of filming left before completing production on the sequel to 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
The news emerges shortly after studio chiefs at Universal delayed the film’s launch by a year as they rejigged their release schedule – it will now hit theatres in June, 2022.
Film and TV industries have been struggling to adapt to post-coronavirus world since lockdown was first imposed earlier this year. Many projects were either pushed back or called off as the industry was brought to a standstill due to the worldwide pandemic.
Superhero movie “The Batman” as well as TV shows like “Riverdale”, “Batwoman”, “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”, “Supergirl”, and “Chicago Med” are among those scrambling to adjust their filmings amid the health crisis.

Colin Trevorrow redeems the release push-back by sharing a new poster, after Universal Pictures announces that the Chris Pratt-starring movie will not arrive until 2022.
    Oct 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Jurassic World: Dominion” is the latest movie which release date has been affected by COVID-19. After the virus outbreak shut down the production earlier this year, fans now have to wait a little longer for the film to arrive in theaters.
Universal Pictures announced on Tuesday, October 6 that the third “Jurassic World” movie is now no longer scheduled to open in theaters in 2021. Originally scheduled to arrive on June 11, 2021, the follow-up to 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” is practically pushed back one year to June 10, 2022.
Director Colin Trevorrow also took to Twitter to address the shift in the release schedule. Promising that the long wait will be “worth it,” he wrote, “For the past three months, I’ve worked with an extraordinary cast and crew on a film we can’t wait to share with the world. Even though we’ll have to wait a bit longer, it will all be worth it. Let’s stay healthy and take care of each other until then.”
In the meantime, he quenched fans’ thirst with the first tease poster for “Dominion”. The artwork features the familiar “Jurassic” logo encased in glowing amber, a callback to the first original film in the franchise, 1993’s “Jurassic Park”.

“Jurassic World: Dominion” had been filming since February of this year when the global pandemic shut down production of Hollywood movies in March. Filming resumed in July, with the cast and crew heading to London.
Just days after the production resumed in the U.K., reports emerged that filming had to be delayed again after several crew members tested positive for coronavirus. However, the reports were debunked by Universal.
“Any reports indicating that ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ has halted production are categorically untrue,” said a spokesperson for the studio, without confirming nor denying the claim about the crew members who tested positive for coronavirus. “The production is in its fifth day of shooting today, and we’re thrilled to be back in front of the camera on this incredible project.”
“Jurassic World: Dominion” has Chris Pratt reprising his role as Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard returning as Claire Dearing. The movie also brings back some of original stars from the “Jurassic Park” trilogy, including Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill and Laura Dern.

  • Chris Pratt No Longer Travels to Malta for 'Jurassic World' Filming Due to Covid-19 Surge

    Universal Pictures

The ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ director has been forced to be scale back the filming in the Mediterranean because of coronavirus concerns as local cases increase.
    Aug 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Jurassic World: Dominion” director Colin Trevorrow is to scale back his shoot in Malta due to crew members contracting the coronavirus.
Local reports claimed last week (end9Aug20) that four “Jurassic World” crew members tested positive for Covid-19 while on the Mediterranean island and are now self-isolating.
Malta has seen an increase in coronavirus cases this month, to 600, with officials in the U.K., where “Jurassic World” main shoot is taking place, adding the country to its list of nations from which arrivals must quarantine for 14 days, and Maltese officials closing bars and limiting public gatherings.
A representative of the film’s studio tells Deadline.com that Trevorrow has decided only the second unit team will shoot on the island.
“Jurassic World: Dominion will have a significant presence in Malta with a second unit crew shooting there from the end of August through to September,” they say.
“Working with an abundance of caution as we have done throughout this production, first unit will no longer shoot in Malta to keep our presence on the ground to a minimum. We’d like to thank the Maltese Government and Film Commission for all their support and we look forward to a successful shoot in this beautiful country.”
Studio sources say around 200 crewmembers will still be shooting, with local workers bringing those involved up to a 1,000. However, stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Sam Neill will no longer travel to the Mediterranean.
The $200 million (£151 million) movie was the first blockbuster to return to production after global Covid-19 lockdowns, with Universal chiefs spending millions of dollars on extensive testing and safety measures.

  • 'Jurassic World: Dominion' NOT Shutting Down Production Amid Reports of Crew's COVID-19 Diagnoses

    Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures denies reports that the movie production is suffering another shutdown due to positive COVID-19 tests among the crew, just days after filming resumed in the U.K.
    Jul 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Jurassic World: Dominion” is not shutting down production again amid reports of its crew’s COVID-19 diagnoses. Universal Pictures has spoken up to deny the news which claimed that filming was halted again, just days after the movie resumed production in the U.K., after several crew members tested positive for the disease.
“Universal Pictures Any reports indicating that ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ has halted production are categorically untrue,” said a Universal spokesperson. “The production is in its fifth day of shooting today, and we’re thrilled to be back in front of the camera on this incredible project.”
The studio, however, didn’t address the claim about the crew members who tested positive for coronavirus.
Earlier on Friday, July 10, rumors began circulating among U.K.’s tabloids that more than one crew member had tested positive after production resumed on July 6 at the Pinewood Studios. A source told The Sun, “This was the last thing anyone expected so soon. Everyone was excited about getting things back up and running on set but this has totally derailed that. There are millions and millions of pounds at stake here. Nobody wants more long delays.”
As a result, producers, who have put in place stringent testing and measures aimed at keeping the set safe, were reportedly holding crisis talks.
At the same time, Sam Neill, who has flown to England from New Zealand for the movie production, said that he has voluntarily gone into a 14-day quarantine before joining the cast and crew on the set. “I feel it’s incumbent upon me to do so,” he told The Guardian. “It’s only fair.”
The production on “Jurassic World: Dominion” had kicked off in February and moved to England in March, before it was shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak. As the British government has waived quarantine restrictions for those working on major Hollywood productions in the country, the production on the “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” sequel was scheduled to restart in July. Earlier this month, lead actor Chris Pratt confirmed he has been back at work to film the movie after months in quarantine.
Also starring Bryce Dallas Howard and original stars Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, the third “Jurassic World” movie has Colin Trevorrow returning as director. The movie is set for a June 21, 2021 release in the United States.

Rumor has it, the coronavirus outbreak among the crew members has prompted producers to hold crisis talks as the movie resumes production in the United Kingdom.
    Jul 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Sam Neill has voluntarily gone into quarantine after entering the U.K. to film “Jurassic World: Dominion”, amid reports members of the crew have tested positive for Covid-19.
The British government has waived quarantine restrictions for those working on major Hollywood productions in the country in a bid to let productions get underway as quickly as possible this month (Jul20).
However, Sam says he is still spending 14 days in quarantine, despite travelling from largely Covid-free New Zealand due to his sense of fair play.
“I feel it’s incumbent upon me to do so,” he tells The Guardian. “It’s only fair.”
His decision comes amid a report that members of the crew have tested positive for the virus ahead of shooting at Pinewood Studios, potentially putting a quick start to filming in jeopardy.
A source tells The Sun, “This was the last thing anyone expected so soon. Everyone was excited about getting things back up and running on set but this has totally derailed that. There are millions and millions of pounds at stake here. Nobody wants more long delays.”
As a result, producers, who have put in place stringent testing and measures aimed at keeping the set safe, are reportedly holding crisis talks.
Sam, who has delighted fans with social media videos posted from his farm in New Zealand during lockdown reveals to The Guardian that the crisis has put things in perspective – even if he thinks world leaders haven’t handled matters well.
“The full-blown crisis was strangely energising,” he adds. “I’ve spoken to people who are missing lockdown; they liked being at home, and now we’re in this no man’s land where no one knows, and we’re getting mixed messages from people in charge. There’s the human impulse to think: ‘Well, that’s done and dusted.’ And, of course, it isn’t.”
“Jurassic World: Dominion”, which also stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jeff Goldblum, is due for release next June.

    Jul 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Pratt is back to work after months in quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. The actor revealed during a video chat with a fan that he recently returned to London to resume the filming of “Jurassic World: Dominion”.
“I’m doing well,” Pratt told his fan Terry, who also won a role in the upcoming “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” sequel. “I’m back in London currently. We’re back in production on ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’.”
Terry nabbed the rare chance to speak with Pratt after he donated to the All In Challenge. The charity is aimed to end food insecurity amid the pandemic. In addition to the call, he won a role in the potential blockbuster flick, where he will be “destroyed in the jaws of an animated dinosaur.”
“Congratulations to Terry our #AllInChallenge winner!” Pratt wrote along with the video which he shared on his Instagram page. “Watch me zoom bomb Terry, his wife Julie and daughter Kelsey as we all discuss his future as a Dino snack! Thanks Terry! And big ups to everyone who entered the sweepstakes. It’s been an honor to be part of the #AllInChallenge which has raised over $59 MILLION to help feed the hungry during this global crisis.”

The production on “Jurassic World: Dominion” had kicked off in February and moved to England in March, before it was shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak. To ensure the safety of all cast and crew members, the production is taking numerous precautions during filming, including having Your Doctor test all cast and crew before they started on the production. The private medical facility will also test the cast and crew at times throughout production, and they will also be antibody tested.
Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise her role as Claire Dearing, with some of the original cast of the “Jurassic Park” movies, including Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, returning. Neill recently teased how much the original cast would be involved in the upcoming movie, telling Yahoo!, “We’re all the way through the film, Jeff, and me, and Laura.”
Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Justice Smith and B.D. Wong also star in the film, which is directed by Colin Trevorrow. The movie is set for a June 21, 2021 release in the United States.

'Jurassic World: Dominion' to Restart Production After Coronavirus Shutdown in July

    Universal Pictures

The ‘Jurassic World’ sequel will be the first major movie to begin filming at Pinewood Studios in the U.K. with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard expected to begin their 14-day quarantine periods.
    Jun 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Jurassic World: Dominion” is set to be the first major movie to resume production in the U.K. following the Covid-19 pandemic – with shooting reportedly due to start in the second week of July (20).
With film and TV shoots in the U.K. greenlit by the country’s government late last month, subject to meeting safety protocols, studio chiefs have been racing to get production back underway – with Tom Cruise reportedly flying into Britain in a bid to resume filming “Mission: Impossible VII”.
However, according to Deadline.com, “Jurassic World”‘s director Colin Trevorrow will be the first to begin production at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire thanks to a huge push to meet and even exceed the safety standards required.
“The plan is for us to be shooting early-mid July,” a senior Universal production executive confirmed.
Studio chiefs have reportedly spent around $5 million (£4 million) on safety protocols, including thousands of tests that will be carried out on cast and crew during filming, a private medical facility with onsite doctors, nurses and isolation booths, 150 hand sanitiser stations; nightly anti-viral ‘fogs’ to disinfect the set, and ‘Green Zones’ for cast and crew.
“Anyone with symptoms will be isolated immediately before being sent home,” the Universal production executive told Deadline. “We want to make sure that we are going above and beyond the national protocols to create a safe environment. Cost isn’t our main concern now: it’s safety.”
“We will take direction from our medical team, but we’re confident that with the staggered scheduling and zones of talent and crew, along with a system of contact tracing, we can move forward with limited delay in production.”
According to information on the movie website, the film’s stars, including Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who flew back to the U.S. when production was halted in March four weeks into a 20-week shoot, will return to the U.K. shortly to begin 14-day quarantine periods.
