Lil Nas X has uploaded the video of his chart-topping hit “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” to PornHub after learning it is no longer available on a handful of top streaming sites.

The controversial promo, which features the rapper performing a seductive dance with the devil, mysteriously no longer features on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube in some territories across the world, and now the “Old Town Road” hitmaker is looking at alternatives.

“Since call me by your name is no longer working on many streaming services i will be uploading the audio to pornhub at 3pm est,” he wrote on Twitter on Tuesday (13Apr21). “Not even joking. everybody stream call me by your name hard today because it may no longer be available tomorrow and there’s nothing i can really do about it. thanks for all the support tho!”

Executives at his record label, Columbia, have also been unable to clear up the mystery.

When the song and music video were first released, it did spark outrage from religious groups but the artist fired back, “I spent my entire teenage years hating myself because of the s**t y’all preached would happen to me because i was gay. so i hope u are mad, stay mad, feel the same anger you teach us to have towards ourselves.”

Lil Nas X Declares 'He's Still Here' After Toping Billboard Hot 100 With 'Montero'

The success of ‘Montero (Call Me by Your Name)’ comes exactly two years since the young rapper released his record-breaking country crossover hit ‘Old Town Road’.

    Apr 6, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Lil Nas X has scored another TransAtlantic double after topping the Billboard Hot 100 with “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”.

The track hit the top of the U.K. charts on Friday, April 2 and now the rapper’s new tune has shot to the top of the North American singles countdown.

The success comes exactly two years since he released his record-breaking country crossover hit “Old Town Road”.

“Y’all told a 19 year old who had just escaped the lowest point of his life that he would never have a hit again,” he tweeted. “you told him to stop while he’s ahead. he could’ve gave up. But 4 multi platinum songs and 2 #1’s later, he’s still here. thank you to my team and my fans! [sic]”.

In a separate Instagram post, Nas, real name Montero Lamar Hill, recalled feeling sorry for himself just before he started working with Montero co-writers and producers Take a Daytrip, Omer Fedi, and Roy Lenzo in 2020, crying in the studio.

“i was sitting in my apartment thinking it was all over for me,” he wrote. “i was trying so hard to be perfect, to please everyone, and not make any enemies. that stifled me creatively. i felt so sorry for myself. but around this time in 2020 i pulled it together, me, daytrip, omer, & roy, worked for months on end.”

“One day in june i was working on a song and found myself leaving the studio every 10 minutes to cry. but i didn’t stop working, a melody came to my mind. ‘call me when u want na-na-na-na na’, and i knew it was something special about it, fast forward a year later it’s the biggest song in the world. thank you guys so much. we get to decide OUR own destiny, never let the world decide it for YOU! i love you! [sic]”.

The song has also debuted at number two on Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, behind Justin Bieber’s “Peaches”, which “Montero” unseats to become America’s number one.

“Peaches”, featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon, drops to two, while Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open” holds at three.

Artist of the Week: Lil Nas X

    Facebook

The ‘Old Town Road’ hitmaker steps outside his safe boundaries as he tells love story from the queer narratives in his new single ‘Montero (Call Me by Your Name)’.

    Apr 5, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Lil Nas X upped the ante with his new music. While he did talk about lean and adultery in his previous breakout single “Old Town Road”, the lyrics and music video were quite PG. However, things got more explicit with his brand new single “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)”.

The 21-year-old singer/rapper also got steamy with the accompanying music video. While talking about falling in love with a man who was still living “in the closet,” the Grammy-winning artist frolicked with his onscreen love interest depicted as alien and portrayed by himself.

The song, inspired by Timothee Chalamet-fronted movie, soon went viral. It also sparked criticisms from conservative groups, but the backlash only added fuel to the popularity. It debuted at the first position on the U.K. Singles chart as well as the all-genre U.S. iTunes sales chart and bowed at No. 3 on the US Spotify chart. It’s also expected to make a high debut on Billboard Hot 100.

While Lil Nas X was unbothered by the controversies that included debate over the accompanying “Satan Shoes,” he still felt the need to put the religious groups that attacked him in check as he wrote on Twitter, “I spent my entire teenage years hating myself because of the s**t y’all preached would happen to me because i was gay. so i hope u are mad, stay mad, feel the same anger you teach us to have towards ourselves.”

The star vows to remain unapologetic as he continues to stay true to himself in his upcoming debut album which features the single. “With this album, my writing from the past has improved by 100 per cent,” he said. “I’m writing about my actual life and things that I’m actually going through. This album will give people a greater sense of who I am and what I stand for.”

Lil Nas X Admits 'MONTERO' Backlash Takes Emotional Toll on Him

    Instagram

While he appeared to be defiant in his previous responses to the criticism over the music video of his latest single, the ‘Old Town Road’ hitmaker claims his ‘anxiety is higher than ever’ now.

    Mar 30, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Lil Nas X does have concerns after his “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” music video sparked backlash. Despite his seemingly defiant responses to the criticism, the rapper has now admitted that the whole controversy surrounding the clip and his “MONTERO”-inspired shoes has taken a toll on him emotionally.

“i’ll be honest all this backlash is putting an emotional toll on me,” so he tweeted on Monday, March 29. “i try to cover it with humor but it’s getting hard,” he confessed, before revealing, “my anxiety is higher than ever.”

Still, he included a promotion for his latest single as he concluded his tweet with, “and stream call me by your name on all platforms now!”

Lil Nas X admitted ‘MONTERO’ backlash has taken emotional toll on him.
Lil Nas’ tweet was met with supportive messages from his fans and famous pals, including YouTube stars James Charles and Nikita Dragun.

James Charles responded to Lil Nas’ tweet.

Nikita Dragun also sent supportive message to the rapper.

Lil Nas came under fire following the release of the “MONTERO” music video on Friday, March 26. While many praised the clip’s prominent LGBT themes, others took issue with the overt sexuality and invocation of religious imagery.

Speaking with Genius, the Grammy-winning artist explained what it is he wanted to say with the provocative new song. “I was like, ‘It’s about time I say something out of pocket in a song,’ ” he said of the openly sexual lyrics in the song. “Let’s normalize having these f**king lines in songs, the same way somebody might talk about f**king a girl or f**king a guy.”

He added that the song’s title was inspired by 2017’s film “Call Me by Your Name” starring Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet. “That was one of the first gay films that I had watched, and I thought the theme was so dope of calling somebody by your own name,” he said. “The way everything is shot, the way the dialogue goes on, the way the background sounds are used, everything about it is so artsy.”

Lil Nas previously seemed to poke fun at the controversy over his “MONTERO” music video by posting a “bathroom of hell” edit version. The video’s title describes the scene that features bathroom stall as “MONTERO but ur in the bathroom of hell while lil nas is giving satan a lap dance in the other room.”

Lil Nas X Laughs Off Attempt to Cancel Eminem in Bad Rap Video

    WENN/Instar/Dennis Van Tine

The ‘Old Town Road’ hitmaker trolls generation Z, who has been criticizing the Slim Shady over his controversial lyrics, in a TikTok video showing him delivering a terrible freestyle.

    Mar 10, 2021
AceShowbiz – Lil Nas X has jumped to Eminem’s defense after the latter has been widely criticized over some of his controversial lyrics. There has been a war between Generation Z and Millennials on whether the Slim Shady should be canceled or given a pass for his shocking lyrics and the younger rapper didn’t miss the chance to step into the ring.
Arguably one of the music industry’s most savvy Internet users, Lil Nas took to TikTok to respond to the heated debate. Instead of giving his serious take on it, the Grammy Award-winning artist trolled Generation Z who is trying to cancel the 48-year-old star with some bad rap.
Lil Nas seemingly laughed off the trolls’ worthless effort to cancel the more senior artist as he delivered a bad freestyle. “Generation Z wants to cancel Eminem?” he asked with a chuckle in the video. “Generation Z wants to cancel Eminem?” He went on repeating similar lines, “Yeah, listen up, Generation/ Z, you’re a generation of Z/ Z, generation of Z.”
Lil Nas isn’t the only musician who has weighed in on the attempt to cancel Eminem. The issue also caught the attention of rocker Corey Taylor, who spoke out about concerns regarding cancel culture.

“I was just reading about how Gen Z is trying to cancel Eminem because of one line that was in a Rihanna song that he did with her,” the Slipknot vocalist said in a discussion on Los Angeles radio station KLOS. “And I’m just like ‘Is that where we are right now?’ I mean, at this point, you’re talking about the Salem witch trials. You’re talking about America in the ’20s where the KKK was like a political force. You’re talking about complete condemnation without context or any rationalization for an action like that.”
“To me, that’s the most dangerous – when the mob decides that you’re gone,” he explained. “I mean, that is Caesar at the Colosseum, for God’s sake. That’s when it’s dangerous. The level of censorship that we’re starting to see – and I’m not saying that certain things haven’t been said that easily offend people.”
“However, the flip side of that is that you can’t even make a joke anymore, even in the cleanest of situations. I mean, they completely turn on you. And there’s not one hint of satire, no hint of irony – it’s just all outrage,” he argued, adding that if people “can’t understand the difference between metaphor and complete reality, then we’re in real trouble.”
Eminem himself previously responded to the backlash by releasing an animated music video for his existing song aptly titled “Tone Deaf”. Lifted off his 2020 album “Music to Be Murdered By”, the song reflects his defiant attitude to the cancel culture.
“It’s okay not to like my s**t/ Everything’s fine, drink your wine, b***h/ And get offline, quit whinin’, this is just a rhyme, b***h,” he raps on the song. “I can’t understand a word you say (I’m tone-deaf)/ I think this way I prefer to stay (I’m tone-deaf).” He also tweeted, “I won’t stop even when my hair turns grey (I’m tone-deaf)/ ‘Cause they won’t stop until they cancel me,” referencing another line from the track, when announcing the release of the animated video on Friday, March 6.
