Harry Styles Stresses Importance Not to Force Lizzo Collaboration

    WENN/Instar

Both the ‘Lights Up’ singer and the ‘Truth Hurts’ hitmaker have expressed admiration for each other, but he sets the record straight on talks about their potential duet.
    Mar 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Harry Styles doesn’t want to “force” a collaboration with Lizzo, despite his love for the U.S. star’s music.
The “Lights Up” hitmaker and the “Truth Hurts” singer have both expressed admiration for each other and delighted fans by cementing their friendship by laughing and joking together at last month’s (February) BRIT Awards.
However, Harry says speculation about a potential duet may be a little premature, as he wants to wait for the right song to come along.
“It’s kind of one of those things where any time two people say they like each other’s stuff, everybody goes, ‘oh you should collaborate,'” the 26-year-old tells New Zealand’s “The Project” TV show.
“I’m a really big fan of hers and if there was a time when something made sense and we wanted to do something together that would be amazing, but I think it’s probably important not to force stuff together.”
In the interview Styles also said he wants to host TV shows as well as make new music – and is willing to give host “The Project” when he visits the country on tour in November.

“I’m big into the hosting now and I’m trying to add another string to my bow,” the British musician adds. “So yeah, if you’d have me that would be wonderful.”

Lizzo Accused of Denying Songwriters' 'Credits and Royalties' in 'Truth Hurts' Legal Battle

    WENN/Avalon

The ‘Good as Hell’ rapper has been slapped with a countersuit by the Raisen brothers and Justin ‘Yves’ Rothman, who claim they took part in the writing session for ‘Truth Hurts’.
    Feb 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Hip-hop star Lizzo has been slapped with a countersuit over the songwriting credits for her smash hit “Truth Hurts”.
Brothers Justin and Jeremiah Raisen, along with Justin ‘Yves’ Rothman, first took issue with the tune on social media last year (2019), claiming they were part of an April, 2017 writing session with Lizzo, which produced the demo, “Healthy”.
They allege the version they worked on included the famous line, “I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100 per cent that b**ch” – but they were never properly acknowledged.
Lizzo refuted the accusations online and then launched legal action against them in October, seeking a declaratory judgement after insisting they “did not help me write any part” of the Grammy-winning track.
Now the Raisens and Rothman are fighting back with their own “bad faith” suit, accusing Lizzo of the “unprincipled attempt to deny songwriting and producer credits and royalties” to the trio.
“Lizzo would never have collected her Grammy Award (for Best Pop Solo Performance) but for the songwriting and producing contributions of (the Raisens and Rothman),” they declare in the U.S. court filing.
They are now keen to have the dispute play out in court so they can prove their involvement in the creation of the tune.
“When the case proceeds to trial, we look forward to sharing the sound recordings, videos, photographs and musicology that 100 per cent prove that collaboration,” their lawyers share in a statement to Rolling Stone.
“Our clients deserve their fair share of the recognition and revenue that comes from collaborating on a hit song.”
Lizzo has yet to respond to the countersuit.
She had previously agreed to extend a credit for the song to Mina Lioness, the singer who originally came up with the “DNA test” line in a 2017 tweet.

The “Truth Hurts” hitmaker beat out Billy Porter, Angela Bassett, Regina King, and Tyler Perry to be named Entertainer of the Year at the ceremony, which recognises entertainers of colour.
“We are such a beautiful people, this is just a reminder of all the beautiful things that we can do,” said Lizzo as she accepted the night’s final and biggest award, leaping and dancing off the stage at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

Jordan played a crusading defence attorney in the film, with Foxx starring as the wrongly convicted man he fought for.

Foxx, who won his fifth overall Image Award for his performance, added, “Thank you so much, black people, African-Americans, and everything else we are.”
“It’s always great to get it from black folks because we are so talented.”

It was a big night for “Black-ish”, with the hit show taking home Outstanding Comedy Series, and sweeping all of the acting categories for comedy series.
Last year’s Entertainer of the Year winner Beyonce Knowles also took home a handful of prizes, including Outstanding Female Artist, along with several nods for her album “The Lion King: The Gift”. Her daughter, Blue Ivy, was also recognised for the collaboration “Brown Skin Girl”.
And Rihanna took home the NAACP President’s Award for special achievement and distinguished public service, and she called for racial, religious and cultural unity during her acceptance speech.
“If there’s anything that I’ve learned, it’s that we can only fix this world together,” Rihanna said. “We can’t do it divided. Tell your friends to pull up.”
“We’ve been denied opportunities since the beginning of time, and still we prevail… Imagine what we can do if we do it together,” she added.
Anthony Anderson hosted the 2020 ceremony.
