Morgan Wallen Vows Not to Return to Stage This Summer Following N-Word Controversy

    WENN/Judy Eddy

The ‘Whiskey Glasses’ singer takes to Instagram to let his fans know that he will not be performing in the coming months as he continues working on himself.

    Apr 14, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Morgan Wallen has once again addressed his racial slur scandal. Admitting that he needs time to “work” on himself two months after he was caught using the N-word outside of his home, the “Whiskey Glasses” singer vowed that he will not return to the stage this summer.

On Tuesday, April 13, the 27-year-old shared on Instagram a handwritten note about the self-reflection he had over the past few months. “I wanted to let you guys know that I’ve taken a couple months away and feel like I’ve really worked on myself. I’m proud of the work I’ve put in and in many ways thankful to have had the time to do it. I’ve needed this time off,” he first divulged.

“I found this time away to be very valuable to me in many ways, but I feel like I need a little more of it and therefore will not be performing tour dates this summer,” the rising country star added. “It means I won’t be playing festivals or the Luke Bryan tour dates. But it’s important to me personally, if you can, still go to these shows – support country music. Country music is back and that’s a beautiful damn thing.”

The “7 Summers” crooner then promised his followers that he “will always strive to be better.” He further pointed out, “Not only has this time revealed to me the ways in which I want to improve but it’s also reminded me that I am still very proud of who I am and the man I am becoming.”

The letter came two months after he was caught using the N-word in a video filmed by his neighbor. He, however, has already issued his apology and expressed his remorse. “Obviously the natural thing to do is apologize further and just continue to apologize but because you got caught and that’s not what I wanted to do,” he said in an Instagram video posted in February. “My words matter. My words can truly hurt a person and at my core, that’s not what I’m okay with.”

Vince Gill Addresses Morgan Wallen Controversy When Debuting New Song About Racism

    Instagram

When appearing on ‘CBS This Morning’, the ‘March On’ crooner expresses his disappointment at the ‘7 Summers’ singer since his N-word drama places country music as a target.

    Feb 18, 2021
AceShowbiz – Vince Gill has debuted a new song about racism in country music after revealing he’s among the artists who have spoken sternly to Morgan Wallen after he was caught using the N-word in a TMZ video.
The singer’s record deal has been suspended and his music has been pulled from hundreds of radio stations across America following the drama, and Gill admits he knew as soon as the controversy broke that country music would become a target.
Dropping a snippet of his new track, “March On”, during an appearance on “CBS This Morning” on Wednesday, February 17, Gill said, “It was just disappointing. I knew that everybody was going to massacre country music. And white America, when they make the argument, ‘Well, I hear it (the N-word) in rap music all the time…,’ I go, ‘Have you not been paying attention to the last 300 to 400 years – how that word has been used by the white community?'”
“It’s derogatory, dismissive and hurtful. It doesn’t have a place.”

In his new song, Gill sings, “We need to cause good trouble/Preach on brothers, sisters stay strong/hearts are changing, march on, march on.”

As well as Gill, Maren Morris and her husband Ryan Hurd have spoken to Wallen, who has apologised for his racist remark and urged fans to stop defending him.
Morris told CBS, “Morgan is a symptom of a much bigger disease of what our genre is right now,” while her husband, whose song “Heartless” was recorded by Wallen, added, “I don’t want it to seem like we’re piling on Morgan, but there’s no place for that word.”

Diplo Apologizes for Playing Morgan Wallen Song at Super Bowl After-Party

    WENN

The Major Lazer star is sorry for playing ‘Heartless’ which features the country music singer at his recent set and pledges to donate proceeds from the song to NAACP.

    Feb 12, 2021
AceShowbiz – Diplo is following Jason Isbell’s lead and making a donation to the NAACP after expressing remorse for including a Morgan Wallen tune in his Super Bowl after-party DJ set.
The country singer has been blacklisted in the music industry ever since he was caught on camera using the N-word with friends following a drunken night out on 31 January (21).
He quickly apologised, but the backlash was swift and on Wednesday (10Feb21), Isbell announced he was directing all songwriting royalties he would be receiving for his track “Cover Me Up”, which Wallen remade for his hit project, “Dangerous: The Double Album”, to officials at the civil rights organisation, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Hours later, Diplo revealed he would be doing the same for his 2019 track “Heartless”, which features Wallen, after spinning the song at a post-Super Bowl bash on Sunday.

Taking to Twitter, the DJ wrote, “Heartless is a old song of mine thats been in my live set for years.”
“Im sorry, I didn’t mean to make anyone mad or offended by playing a song featuring Morgan. It was by no means a Political statement or a message. Jason’s doin the right thing, Im also donating my proceeds (sic).”
Wallen has since also returned to social media to urge fans not to defend his actions because he knows he “let so many people down” with his use of the racial slur, which he realises “can truly hurt a person.”
“I appreciate those who still see something in me and have defended me,” he added. “But for today, please don’t. I was wrong. It’s on me. I take ownership for this and I fully accept any penalties I’m facing.”
Wallen’s music was removed from a host of radio stations and playlists across the U.S. in the wake of the scandal while his recording contract has also been put on hold.
