  • COVID-19 Forces Ozzy Osbourne to Scrap Album Plans

    WENN/Avalon

The Black Sabbath frontman has to put his new solo album plans on hold after producer Andrew Watt fell ill and is still ‘very sick’ with the novel coronavirus.
    Sep 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ozzy Osbourne has been forced to put his latest album plans on hold because producer Andrew Watt is struggling with COVID-19.
Watt teamed up with the rock legend for Ozzy’s acclaimed 2020 comeback album “Ordinary Man”, and the pair were planning to head back into the studio to record the follow-up this spring, but then the producer fell ill.
“He was very sick, and he still is,” Osbourne tells Rolling Stone. “He had a good day and a bad day, you know? It f**ks your lungs up. We were supposed to be (writing), but he texted me the other day and said, ‘I have to ask for some time.’ ”
“I said, ‘Whenever you’re ready, call me.’ ”
Ozzy admits he’s found a great collaborator in the young producer, adding, “I have a couple ideas; not many. With Andrew, it just comes out in the moment.”

  • Ozzy Osbourne Refuses to Retire Despite Health Woes

    YouTube/Download Festival Japan

The Black Sabbath rocker is determined to keep making music and doing tour despite his health issues after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019.
    Aug 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ozzy Osbourne has no plans to give up his rockstar life.
The 71-year-old Black Sabbath rocker opened up this year about battling Parkinson’s disease, which is now affecting his ability to walk. But he tells Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper “retirement” is off the cards.
“You know the time when I will retire? When I can hear them nail a lid on my box. And then I’ll f**king do an encore,” he quips, adding, “I’m the Prince of Darkness.” The star has been isolating against Covid-19 since March (20), but Ozzy insists that he will return to finish his last tour, which was axed due to his health issues, with rescheduled dates called off due to the pandemic. “When you feel that audience jumping, it’s a better feeling than orgasm. It is the best love affair of my life,” he reflects. “The party is on, man. I feel honoured people still want to see me.”
Wife Sharon, who is also Ozzy’s manager, is also adamant her husband’s health issues won’t prevent him returning to the stage, sharing, “He may not be able to run up and down like he used to on stage, but it’s still about the voice and he’s still a funny f**ker.”
“His voice is his legacy. You hear one note, you know that’s Ozzy,” she gushes. “Everything you want to say is right there in the music.”

  • Ozzy Osbourne's Upcoming Biopic Will Be R-Rated for Adults Only

    WENN

According to the matriarch Sharon Osbourne, the upcoming movie about the life and career of her rocker husband will be nothing like the ‘clean’ Queen biopic.
    Aug 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ozzy Osbourne’s upcoming biopic will be for adults only.
The rocker’s manager wife, Sharon, who is helping to develop the film with the couple’s son, Jack, reveals the project will be R-rated, because no one wants to water down the former Black Sabbath star’s crazy life.
“It’s not like any other story,” she says. “It’s not like, ‘rock & roll, crazy, and now I’m a granddad!’ It’s so much more than that.”
Sharon insists Ozzy’s biopic will be nothing like “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which chronicled the lives of Freddie Mercury and his Queen bandmates.
“I get why they did that, because it was for a younger generation,” she says. “It was squeaky clean… and it turned a whole generation onto Queen’s music that had never heard (it) before. So with that, it was phenomenal. But I don’t think it was a great movie… It was made ‘nice’ and that’s what made it a (Christian TV network) Hallmark movie.”
“Our film will be a lot more real,” Sharon adds. “We don’t want it to be squeaky, shiny clean and all of that. We’re not making it for kids. It’s an adult movie for adults.”
“I hope it will be a story that everybody can relate to. You don’t have to be a fan of the music, because it’s a story about a survivor. No matter what life throws at you, you pick yourself up and you start again. It’s just an amazing story of overcoming everything that’s thrown at you in your life.”
Meanwhile, Jack Osbourne tells Rolling Stone, “We have a writer. We said to go from 1979 to 1996. I can’t say too much, but the film is an active development.”
And Ozzy adds, “From what I understand, it’s about (wife and manager) Sharon and I and our relationship; it’s how we met, fell in love, and how we married. She’s my other half. She grew up a lot with me, and I grew up a lot with her… Sharon wants to get an unknown actor (to portray me).”
Meanwhile, Ozzy’s life will also be the subject of an upcoming TV documentary, “Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne”, which Jack produced. It will premiere on America’s A&E network on 7 September (20).

  • Ozzy Osbourne Keeps Himself Busy With New Album Amid Parkinson's Disease Battle

    WENN

According to his manager wife Sharon Osbourne, the Black Sabbath rocker is doing great as he is getting stronger and keeping himself occupied in the studio.
    Jul 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ozzy Osbourne and producer Andrew Watt have returned to the studio to create a second album.
The heavy rocker had so much fun working with Watt on his 2020 comeback album, “Ordinary Man”, he has recruited the young knob-twiddler for his next release, which is already taking shape amid Ozzy’s Parkinson’s disease battle, according to his manager wife Sharon.
During an appearance on “Steve-O’s Wild Ride!” podcast, Sharon gave an update on her husband’s health and career, stating, “He’s starting his second album with Andrew Watt right now and you can’t stop him. He’s doing it.”
And she insists her husband is still committed to completing the farewell tour he was unable to finish following a fall at his home that dislodged rods in his spine, because he wants to “end it his way.”
“He still had a year to do of that tour and there were seats sold for the next year, but the accident stopped it all,” Sharon added. “But he said it’s not gonna end just like that… and he’s gonna go back out. And even if it’s just one huge show to say goodbye, he’s going to do it.”
The fall in January 2019 aggravated injuries he sustained from an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident in 2003. He required surgery and was forced to postpone his farewell tour until 2020. He cancelled the rescheduled dates, to receive treatment for Parkinson’s disease, but they never materialised as planned due to the COVID crisis.
“He’s getting stronger every day,” Sharon said. “He’s doing really, really good. He’s had a terrible, terrible injury. At one point, they thought he would never walk again, but he is – he’s walking and he’s doing great. He’s been hit by so much medically, but he’s doing good.”

Ozzy Osbourne's Son Compares Him to The Beatles and Rolling Stones Legends

    Instagram

Jack Osbourne ranks his rocker father, the Black Sabbath frontman, ‘among the Paul McCartneys and Mick Jaggers of the world’ in terms of his career success.
    May 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jack Osbourne had nothing but praise for his rocker dad’s musical legacy in a new interview about his career success.
The former Black Sabbath frontman gets candid about his long struggle with substance abuse, trouble with the law, Parkinson’s battle, and marital issues with his manager wife Sharon in new documentary “The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne”.
Son Jack is among those close to the star who features in the programme and, speaking to Collider ahead of the release this summer 2020, Jack acclaimed him as being “among the Paul McCartneys and Mick Jaggers of the world” in terms of his career success.
He explained, “It’s a very small class of people. When you look at his peers, which he wouldn’t consider his peers ’cause he just doesn’t think that way…”
“He would never consider himself to be in that group, but he is, and it’s a dwindling group of entertainer,” Jack gushed. “But yet, there’s a relatability to my dad, and I’m not sure everyone can necessarily relate to some of the world’s most famous, known recording artists.”
Jack – one of Ozzy and Sharon’s three kids, along with sisters Kelly and Aimee – also said that he hopes that the documentary will show people that Ozzy “isn’t just a one-dimensional figure, if they ever thought that he was.”
“There are many aspects to him, and this is a good look at that. Because of the persona that people have seen my father as, it’s always, ‘What’s wrong with him?’ But I think this documentary rephrases it as, ‘What happened to him?’ ” he shared.
“My dad has had a very fortunate life, but it’s been filled with a lot of turmoil, some of it self-inflicted and some completely out of his hands. (The documentary) is an interesting look at that.”
“The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne” is set to premiere on U.S. network A&E.

Ozzy Osbourne's Son Jack Confirms Biopic

    Instagram

According to Jack Osbourne, a big-screen adaptation chronicling his famous father’s early solo career and life with wife Sharon is ‘absolutely’ in the works.
    May 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – A biopic about Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy Osbourne’s early solo career and the singer’s life with wife Sharon is in the works, according to son Jack.
Speaking during an appearance on web series “The Jasta Show”, the son of the hitmaker and “The Talk” host confirmed, “There is absolutely things in motion right now to make (the movie) a reality.”
“I think in the next few months, you’ll probably see something coming up about it. But we haven’t landed (at a studio) yet. So, fingers crossed.”
Asked who will play him in the movie, Jack said, “I think the time period I would do it in, I would be a child in it. So I wouldn’t be so heavily featured. It’s gonna be more about my mom and dad making their way through the world. I would be in the background just being annoying.”
Sharon first revealed work was ongoing on a biopic about her childhood and early days with Ozzy, telling Variety, “I don’t want to do another rock and roll, sex, drugs and money movie about a musician.”
“That’s not what I’m doing. There hasn’t been a movie about a woman that actually works on the management side – that’s a true story – and somebody that succeeds through the struggle and you come out the other side.”
In the meantime, the new documentary “Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne” is set to premiere this summer 2020 on the A&E network, with Jack gushing of the feature, “It’s f**king awesome! As much as I love (the 2011 documentary) God Bless Ozzy (Osbourne), this is so much better…”
“I think this does a better job of kind of cramming in his entire life in a two-hour film. We start from childhood and we go all the way up to his recent Parkinson’s diagnosis. So it’s all in there.”

Ozzy Osbourne Gets Emotional in 'Ordinary Man' Music Video

    [embedded content]

The visuals sees the former Black Sabbath frontman looking at footage from his life that includes home videos of his family and the all-terrain vehicle accident.
    Mar 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ozzy Osbourne is tugging at fans’ heartstrings with an emotional new video, in which he looks back at his highs and lows.
The rock legend’s “Ordinary Man” promo, which dropped on Tuesday, March 10, features Ozzy in an empty cinema looking at footage from his life – from photos and home videos of himself with his family and concert clips to the all-terrain vehicle accident, which left him with metal rods in his spine.
There are also arrest mugshots and video of the former Black Sabbath star losing control, drinking heavily and abusing drugs, while his manager/wife Sharon Osbourne, who co-produced the “Ordinary Man” video alongside Ozzy’s son Jack, appears to despair in throwback footage.
In between the clips, Osbourne is caught smiling and hanging his head in his hands as some of his life lows are chronicled on the screen in front of him.
The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it clip of his ATV accident in December, 2003, shows a friend coming to Ozzy’s aid as he lies motionless in a field.
The injuries he sustained are still a big issue for Ozzy – he pulled the plug on his 2019 “No More Tours II” concerts after dislodging the metal rods in his spine during a fall at home.
The new video also features scenes of the rocker’s hometown of Birmingham, England.
“Ordinary Man”, which features both Elton John and Slash, is the title track from Osbourne’s latest album.

Ozzy Osbourne: 'Ordinary Man' Is the First Album I Recorded Completely Sober

    WENN/Avalon

In a candid new interview with Beats 1, the former Black Sabbath frontman further tells host Zane Lowe why he does not understand how he got to live to the age of 71.
    Feb 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ozzy Osbourne’s new album, “Ordinary Man”, is the first he has recorded completely sober.
The rock icon’s first solo album in a decade was released on Friday, February 21 and in a candid new Beats 1 interview with Zane Lowe, the former Black Sabbath star reveals he was clean and present throughout the process.
“I thought it was the drugs and the alcohol that made it all work,” he told Lowe, “but it’s not true. All I was doing for years is self-medicating ’cause I didn’t like the way I felt.”
“This is the first album I’ve co-wrote and recorded f**king completely sober (sic)… The last album, I wrote some of it stoned. I quite like being sober now ’cause at least I can remember the f**king thing I did yesterday.”
Ozzy also told the radio host he feels blessed to be alive after so many of his rock star peers and friends have died.
“I’m not being funny and I’m not being cocky, but I can remember times when I’ve f**king woke up with puke down me (sic),” he added. “I’ve f**king woke up with a bed full of blood, when I’ve fallen down and banged my head or whatever. My friend John Bonham, I used to go drinking with him. He died. Bon Scott, he died. I don’t know what to f**king say.”
    [embedded content]
“People go, ‘You must have the Midas touch’ or whatever. I’m lucky. I wasn’t any better than any of them. I even f**king would go so far as to say I was worse in some cases. But it’s the luck of the draw. Seventy-one and I don’t f**king understand how I got there.”
