Glastonbury Festival 2021 Called Off Due to Covid-19 Pandemic

    Instagram

The British music festival which takes place annually at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England has been cancelled by organizers amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

    Jan 22, 2021
AceShowbiz – Organisers of the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival has cancelled its 2021 edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the second year running.
The iconic music event, held annually at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England, will not go ahead, organisers Michael and Emily Eavis announced on the festival’s Twitter account.
“With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us,” they said. “In spite of our efforts to move heaven and earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the festival happen this year. We are so sorry to let you all down.”
They confirmed that as with last year, anyone with a ticket has now been offered the opportunity to roll their deposit over to next year, when the festival will hopefully resume.

The Eavises added they were “very confident we can deliver something really special for us all in 2022.”
Last year’s 50th-anniversary event was meant to be headlined by Sir Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar, but it was cancelled during the initial U.K. lockdown in March 2020.
In December 2020, the former member of The Beatles admitted he was reluctant to headline the music festival due to coronavirus concerns. The 78-year-old musician said, “Glastonbury, where you’ve got over 100,000 people packed into a field? That’s a super-spreader.”
Despite the organizers’ confidence, the “Hey Jude” hitmaker didn’t expect next year’s festival to take place either.

Paul McCartney's Daughter Mary Tapped to Direct Abbey Road Studios Documentary

    Instagram

Mary McCartney has been officially announced to sit behind the lens for the upcoming project that documents the untold story of the famed studio in London.

    Jan 13, 2021
AceShowbiz – Paul McCartney’s filmmaker daughter Mary is to direct a feature-length documentary about the world-famous Abbey Road Studios.
“If These Walls Could Sing”, the untold story of the studios where the Beatles recorded their legendary “Abbey Road” album, will be produced by Oscar-winner John Battsek following a new development deal between his Ventureland and Mercury Studios.
In a statement following news of the upcoming project, Mary said, “Some of my earliest memories as a young child come from time spent at Abbey Road. I’ve long wanted to tell the story of this historic place and I couldn’t be collaborating with a better team than John and Mercury Studios to make this creative ambition a reality.”

A release date for “If These Walls Could Sing” has yet to be released, but it’s expected that it will drop in conjunction with the recording studios’ 90th anniversary celebrations, which will kick off in November this year (21).
The project marks the first time Abbey Road has opened its doors for a feature length documentary, and will include an “all-star cast of interviews, unparalleled access to the studios and, of course, a spellbinding soundtrack,” a press release promised.
Mary – the daughter of Paul and his late wife Linda McCartney – first made a name for herself as a photographer before taking on the screen, and now has seven directing credits to her name.
She also produced a 2001 TV documentary called “Wingspan” about her father’s musical career post-Beatles.

Paul McCartney Might Back Out of 2021 Glastonbury as He Sees the Event as Covid-19 'Super-Spreader'

    Instagram/Mary McCartney

The 78-year-old musician admits he is reluctant to take the stage at the upcoming Glastonbury music festival over coronavirus concerns as he sees the event as a potential super-spreader.

    Dec 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Paul McCartney is reluctant to headline Britain’s Glastonbury music festival in 2021 over fears surrounding the coronavirus.
The Beatles legend, 78, had been due to top the bill at the musical extravaganza this June (20), before it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic – and the “Hey Jude” hitmaker doesn’t expect next year’s festival to take place either.
He said, “Glastonbury, where you’ve got over 100,000 people packed into a field? That’s a super-spreader.”
Despite admitting they are “a long way” from being able to say if there will definitely be a festival in 2021, Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis has insisted bosses are doing “everything” in their power to try and get the Worthy Farm music extravaganza to take place next year.

The 50th anniversary of the iconic event, which was sadly cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic this summer (20), was due to be headlined by Sir Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar.
Despite being forced off the stage, the rocker has been busy making music and recently released a sequel to his classic albums, 1970’s “McCartney” and 1980’s “McCartney II”, by making a record in which he wrote and produced all the songs, as well as singing and playing all the instruments.
Reflecting on the newly-released McCartney III, he told The Sun newspaper, “We were shocked to find ourselves in the middle of this but, for some creative people, it gave us unexpected time.”
“I should have been rehearsing for my shows, culminating in Glastonbury, and suddenly all of that was knocked out, so I was able to do some recording,” he recalled. “I was just making music purely for me that no one really was going to hear, except me and my family. I suddenly had about 11 or 12 tracks, not knowing what to do with them… but then the penny dropped.”
“I thought of McCartney I and II. I’d played all the instruments on those, which put this in the same class, so this should be McCartney III. I’d found a place for it.”

Taylor Swift Enjoyed One of the Best Nights of Her Life Jamming With Paul McCartney

    Rolling Stone Magazine/Mary McCartney

The ‘Lover’ singer recalls spending one of the most fun nights of her life partying with the former Fab Four and having a blast playing music at the celebrity gathering.

    Nov 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift enjoyed one of the “best nights of her life” jamming with Paul McCartney.
In a joint interview for Rolling Stone magazine, the pop star calls “Hey Jude” singer Paul “the catalyst for the most fun times ever” as she laments the fact the COVID pandemic got in the way of a planned joint performance at the Glastonbury festival this summer (20).
“If this year had gone the way that we thought it was going to go, you and I would have played Glastonbury,” she says. “And I remember thinking it would have been so much fun because the times that I’ve run into you, I correlate with being some of the most fun nights of my life.”
“I was at a party with you, when everybody just started playing music… I was playing (Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters song) Best of You, but I was playing it on piano, and he didn’t recognise it until about halfway through.”

Grohl, who was also at the gathering, joined Taylor on drums, but the “Let It Be” star admits that when it comes to impromptu performances, he needs encouragement to get up onstage, noting, “Reese Witherspoon was like, ‘Are you going to sing?’ I said ‘Oh, I don’t know.’ She said, ‘You’ve got to, yeah!’ She’s bossing me around.”
“I love that person, because the party does not turn musical without that person,” says Taylor, adding, “If nobody says, ‘Can you guys play music?’ we’re not going to invite ourselves up onstage at whatever living-room party it is.”
“I seem to remember Woody Harrelson got on the piano, and he starts playing Let It Be, and I’m thinking, ‘I can do that better,’ ” laughs Paul. “So I said, ‘Come on, move over, Woody.’ So we’re both playing it. It was really nice.…”
“I love people like Dan Aykroyd, who’s just full of energy and he loves his music so much, but he’s not necessarily a musician, but he just wanders around the room, just saying, ‘You got to get up, got to get up, do some stuff,’ ” he adds.
