Salma Hayek Remembers Being Reduced to Tears Filming 'Desperado' Sex Scene

    WENN/Instar

During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast, the ‘Eternals’ actress explains what bothered her upon learning that she had to shoot the scene with Antonio Banderas.

    Feb 16, 2021
AceShowbiz – Salma Hayek was in tears throughout the making of her breakthrough film “Desperado” after learning she had to shoot an intimate scene with co-star Antonio Banderas.
The actress claims she had no idea she would have to fake sex with Banderas’ character and couldn’t stop thinking about how the scene would embarrass her family.
“When we were going to start shooting, I started to sob, saying, ‘I don’t know that I can do it. I’m afraid’,” Salma told Dax Shepard during an appearance on his “Armchair Expert” podcast.
“One of the things I was afraid of was Antonio. He was an absolute gentleman and so nice, and we’re still super close friends, but he was very free. It scared me that, for him, it was, like, nothing. I started crying, and he was like, ‘Oh my God. You’re making me feel terrible.’ I was so embarrassed that I was crying.”

Hayek also insisted director Robert Rodriguez was “amazing” and never put any pressure on his young star to get naked or do anything which made her feel uncomfortable.
“They would try to make me laugh… We got through it. We did the best with what we could do at the time. When you’re not you, then you can do it, but I keep thinking of my father and my brother (sic): ‘And are they going to see it? And are they going to get teased?'”
During the interview, Salma also responded to claims that suggested she married her French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault husband for his “money.” Gushing over him, the actress said, “He’s made me become a much better person, and grow in such a good, healthy way,” the Oscar nominee continued raving. “And you know when I married him, everybody said, ‘Oh, it’s an arranged marriage, she married him for the money.’ I’m like, ‘yeah, whatever, b***h.’ Think what you want: 15 years together, and we are strong in love.”

Salma Hayek Scolded by TV Cast and Crewmembers for Repeatedly Violating Covid-19 Protocols

    WENN

The ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ actress admits she struggled to keep up with the coronavirus protocols as she kept forgetting to wear face masks when she’s on the set.

    Feb 6, 2021
AceShowbiz – Actress Salma Hayek is constantly scaring people away on film and TV sets amid the Covid-19 pandemic because she frequently forgets to wear her face mask.
The “Frida” star admits she really should know better, having served as an executive producer on Netflix’s Mexican drama series “Monarca”, but she has repeatedly been scolded by other cast and crewmembers for unintentionally going mask-less as she wanders from post to post.
“I was producing a show, Monarca…, the second season, and so I, as a producer, had to go through all the (COVID) complications to get the show going, and so we could finish it,” she told U.S. breakfast show “Today”. “And even knowing all of that, when I went to do it (act) myself after being an actress for more than 30 years, I would do everything wrong!”

“I eat most of the time on the craft table (sic) and I would go to the craft table, try to grab something, and they’re like, ‘No! Don’t touch anything!’ I’m like, ‘It’s a Snickers bar.’ They’re like, ‘No! Don’t touch it…!'” Salma recalled.
“And after a take, I take my mask off and… I go, ‘I’m gonna go check it out on the monitor…,’ and everyone’s running away from me. ‘No, you can’t come this way, you have no mask!’ ”
“I know that those are the rules but when you’re used to it (regular life on set) for so long, it’s so weird,” she added.

Salma Hayek: 'The Eternals' Has 'Completely Different DNA' From Other Marvel Movies

    WENN

The ‘Frida’ actress talks about her upcoming superhero movie and reveals she signed her contract with Marvel for the new blockbuster without reading the script.

    Feb 5, 2021
AceShowbiz – Salma Hayek had no idea what she was signing up for when she agreed to star in “The Eternals”.
The “Frida” star portrays Ajak, the spiritual leader of the Eternals, in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe flick, and has revealed she confessed to the team that hired her that she knew nothing about comic books and the immortal alien race who secretly live on Earth.
The actress admitted she found it “very unsettling” signing her contract without knowing what she was in for.
Salma, who also had to keep tight-lipped about the movie, told Variety’s Just for Variety podcast, “My agents were like, ‘A Marvel franchise!’ I’m like, ‘Oh, my God. I’m working with Chloe (Zhao)!’ and so I was starstruck when she was talking to me on Zoom. That was very exciting.’ ”

She continued, “I was sworn to secrecy because I was one of the first people that they hired but I had to keep it in a secret for a long, long time. So, when I had the call, I said to them, ‘I confess. Eventually I will know everything that there is to know, but what are the Eternals? Do they exist in comics? I don’t know who’s Ajax.’ And then they explained everything to me. They explained me the script. They didn’t give me the script. I had to sign the contract without reading the script. They wouldn’t let me see the script until I signed. That was very unsettling.”
The “Grown Ups” star also had concerns about her superhero costume because she is “claustrophobic” while she spilled that “The Eternals” is shot in a “completely different way” to other Marvel films.
“Then I was afraid of the outfit. I’m claustrophobic. I was very afraid that I was going to feel like I couldn’t move,” she sighed. “It has a completely different DNA from the (other Marvel movies). It’s shot different than all the other ones. It’s in real locations and they found some crazy extraterrestrial-looking locations. I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about what they do with the camera, but… it’s not mostly done in post. The cinematography is incredible.”
However, Salma actually found putting on her costume for the first time “empowering” and “moving” because she was once told she’d never succeed in a career in acting, let alone play a superhero in a blockbuster franchise, whilst she’s been bullied for her height.
“It really moved me … They told me (early in her career), ‘It’s never going to happen for you here.’ I am representing,” she smiled. “It’s not because I’m putting on an outfit but we get the right to be superheroes today. I’m also 54. So there was something really moving, not just for me, but for everything, all the different stereotypes. She’s not sexy. You know what I’m saying? She’s not sexy at all. I’m very short. I’ve been bullied for being short my entire life. And suddenly, it doesn’t matter. You’re a superhero in the Marvel universe. It moved me.”

Salma Hayek, Guillermo Del Toro Join Fundraisers for Mexican Struggling Movie Workers

    WENN

The Mexican actors and filmmakers are joining forces to raise money to help the movie workers who lost employment due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
    Jun 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Salma Hayek and Mexican directors, Guillermo Del Toro and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, have set up a fund to help Mexican movie workers who have lost employment due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
With productions halted across the world, including in Mexico, which has had more than 130,000 coronavirus cases and over 15,000 deaths, employees who’d normally be working on set are facing hardship.
To help those in need, the actress and filmmakers have teamed up with The Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematograficas (The Mexican Academy of Cinema Arts and Sciences) to launch the fund, which was announced on Thursday, June 11, 2020.
Speaking via video call, Gonzalez Inarritu told The Hollywood Reporter the project is “an act of solidarity with our colleagues in this industry, without asking anybody else besides ourselves.”
The fund has raised about $440,000 already, with the likes of Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna also contributing with more donations expected. Currently, beneficiaries will receive a one-time payment of about $885.
The money will go first to technical workers on set, costume, as well as sound and visual employees, with those who are suffering health problems or who are their family’s sole earners having priority.
Mexico’s government is yet to announce a date when production of films can resume.
