Addison Rae Supports TikTok Dance Creators Following Backlash Over Her 'Jimmy Fallon' Performance

    NBC

The ‘Obsessed’ singer, who has been criticized for stealing from Black entertainers without giving due credit, says that ‘it’s kind of hard to credit during the show.’

    Mar 30, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Addison Rae has reacted to backlash over her performance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”. Having been criticized for stealing from Black entertainers without giving due credit, the “Obsessed” singer stressed that she supports TikTok dance creators.

The 20-year-old offered her two cents when speaking to TMZ during an outing on Monday, March 29. “I think they were all credited in the original YouTube post, but it’s kind of hard to credit during the show. But they all know that I love them so much. I mean, I support all of them so much. And hopefully one day we can all meet up and dance together,” she said.

The “He’s All That” actress noted that she already talked about the criticism with host Jimmy Fallon. Despite the heat, she gushed that the performance was such “so much fun.” She further raved, “I’m very grateful and thankful. It was such a great time.”

When pressed if she has plans to “collaborate” with those creators, Addison was quick to reply, “For sure. I mean, I think ever since the beginning that I’ve been talking about most of them, and um, definitely wanna collab with a lot of them.” She continued, “So hopefully, once the world opens up, we can all meet up and so something together because they’d be so much fun. And they’re also talented. And I definitely don’t do them justice. They’re amazing.”

Addison came under fire after she appeared in the Friday, March 26 episode of the late night talk show for a segment called “Addison Rae Teaches Jimmy Eight TikTok Dances”. In it, she performed some popular dances according to cue cards that the TV host held.

Addison has since been slammed by many on Twitter. One in particular argued, “Addison Rae on Fallon is a prime example of how mediocre and basic white girls talent have to be to get far meanwhile she build her whole brand off of stealing tick tok’s from black girls…let me know when y’all ready to talk about how the media pushes WHITE #AddisonRaeonFallon.”

The criticism did not stop there. More came forward with one stating, “these moves/dances were made by black ppl yet she’s the one getting the recognition and money. she doesn’t have any individual talent or creativity she’s just an average looking yt girl with colonizer tendencies and she gets all this. ridiculous.” Another raged, “Jimmy Fallon having Addison Rae on for Tiktok dances she clearly stole and butchered from black creators.”

AceShowbiz – Jimmy Fallon is back in the studio! The TV host made his return to “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” studio at 30 Rockefeller Center after months of hosting the show from home due to COVID-19 pandemic.
In the emotional episode, Fallon greeted his viewers, “As you can see, we’re back in the studio at 30 Rockefeller Plaza here in New York City. And as a New Yorker, I want to say thank you to everyone who helped get us to where we are now, wearing masks, social distancing, washing hands, quarantining, it all helps.”
“And to all the states going through the tough parts right now, our friends in Florida, Arizona, Texas, California, all over the South, I know how hard it is and I’m not gonna lie to you–it’s rough,” he added. “But I guess, I’m here to show you that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel if we all do our part to keep each other safe.”
“I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but normalcy, any type of normalcy, feels great,” Fallon continued, getting a bit choked up as he addressed viewers. “So hopefully we can put a smile on your face for an hour every night and let you sit back and relax while we try to bring you a little bit of normal.”
“The show will be a little bit different than what you’re used to,” he went on to explain. “There is no audience, the guests will be streaming from home, but I think, in some ways, we are getting used different. 'The Tonight Show': Lady GaGa and Jimmy Fallon Have the Most Awkward Phone Call Ever

    WENN

Prior to FaceTiming with the 34-year-old singer from his home, host Jimmy Fallon teases that she’ll be making a big announcement, but she reveals that for some reasons she can’t do the interview.
    Apr 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lady GaGa was among the guests in the Wednesday, April 1 episode of “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon”. Prior to FaceTiming with the 34-year-old singer/actress from his home, host Jimmy Fallon teased that the singer would be making a big announcement.
Once he was connected with GaGa, Jimmy excitedly said, “Hi! Lady GaGa!” The “A Star Is Born” was seen wearing smart makeup while sporting dark-rimmed glasses. She seemed to be busy as she awkwardly greeted, “Hi everyone!”
Jimmy then asked her, “You have a big, maybe announcement you’re going to say tonight on our show?” However, GaGa revealed for some reasons she couldn’t do the interview, let alone making an announcement. “I can’t Jimmy. I, uh, can’t talk right now. I’m sorry. It’s just a really, really weird time,” she said.
“Hello? Jimmy I can’t see you. Am I on TV?” the “Poker Face” hitmaker asked, to which Jimmy responded,”Yeah, you’re on TV. I apologize.” Jimmy appeared to try pressing about the announcement, saying, “There’s something very big you’re working on that’s going to help people right now.”
GaGa, however, insisted that she just couldn’t do it at the time. “I cant..I can’t tell you everything right now because I’m still ironing out the details and I have a lot of phone calls to make,” she told Jimmy. She then suggested him to call her again on Friday, much to Jimmy’s confusion.
    [embedded content]
As if the situation wasn’t weird enough, GaGa suddenly asked Jimmy to reschedule their interview on Monday. Despite feeling confused, Jimmy agreed to the proposition. “So I guess it’s Monday. Monday is when we will find out the big news from Lady GaGa. Not today, Wednesday, no. Not Friday, nope. Next Monday is when we’ll find out the big news from Lady GaGa. Thank you, GaGa. I cannot wait to find out what you’re brewing. It’s going to be fun,” Jimmy concluded.

Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers Shut Down Late Night Shows Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

Producers of ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ have also informed staff about decision to go dark after New York’s Governor and Major introduce restrictions on public gatherings, venues and events.
    Mar 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – New York’s top talk shows are shutting down a day after producers announced they would continue without studio audiences due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and “The Wendy Williams Show” will all go dark from Friday, March 13 as the Governor and Major of the Big Apple introduce restrictions on public gatherings, venues and events.
“The Tonight Show”, which will air on Thursday without a studio audience, and “Late Night” will pause production through their previously planned hiatus, which was scheduled for the week beginning March 23.

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and make decisions about future shows as we get closer to the start of production,” a statement from an NBC network spokesman reads.

Producers of Wendy Williams’ show informed staff of the production shutdown on Thursday afternoon.
“The safety and well-being of our employees is our top priority,” a statement read. “Considering the current escalation of the Coronavirus, production will be put on hold, indefinitely… We will continue to monitor the situation with the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and city officials to determine the best time to return and produce live shows again. Thank you for everything you do and please stay safe!”

New York has fast become a sports and entertainment ghost town thanks to coronavirus-related cancellations, with Broadway bosses closing all theater productions for at least a month and movie executives postponing the releases of blockbusters like “A Quiet Place: Part II”, “No Time to Die”, “Mulan” and “F9”. Meanwhile, all basketball, soccer, ice hockey and baseball games have been cancelled until the end of the month, and many music events and gigs have been scrapped.
