Tom Holland Wears Nothing but Thong Under His Spider-Man Suit

    Sony Pictures

The Peter Paker depicter reveals he wears nothing but a thong underneath his skintight superhero costume when he’s filming the Marvel blockbuster franchise.

    Feb 27, 2021
AceShowbiz – Tom Holland wears a thong underneath his Spider-Man suit.
The 24-year-old actor admits he has very little on beneath his superhero costume.
“I wear a thong, like a jockstrap thing,” he tells GQ. “I have a thong and a mesh underlay suit and then the Spider-Man suit, made from very coarse material, goes over the top.”
Tom, who will reprise his role as the webslinger for “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, goes on to reveal he has never been tempted to steal his own suit from the set even though there are “loads of them flying around.”

“I could just steal one,” he chuckles. “I should just go home in one from the set and be like, ‘Come and take it off me!’ They’d never find the hidden zips, though.”
The upcoming “Spider-Man: Far From Home” sequel will also see the return of Zendaya Coleman and Jacob Batalon. It’s due stateside on December 21 this year.
The plot is still kept under wrap, but Holland’s Peter Parker is expected to sport a new haircut as the actor previously revealed he refused to wear wig to hide haircut from his other movie “Uncharted”.
“I have cool shaved sides and it’s slick at the back, and that’s not very Peter Parker,” he told Esquire. “He (Parker)’s a bit of a loser. So they put this wig on me that was just around the sides.”
But Holland was not impressed and fought against the suggestion – and won. “For the first time in my life, I put my foot down as the leading actor and was like, ‘I’m not f**king wearing that wig. I’m going to have shorter hair and you’re going to have to deal with it!’ ” he shared.

Tom Holland Blames His Fit of Giggles for Failing 'Star Wars' Audition

    Instagram

Admitting that he was once vying for John Boyega’s role of Finn, the ‘Spider-Man’ star recalls losing his cool in front of casting directors while trying to act with a woman playing a drone.

    Feb 24, 2021
AceShowbiz – Tom Holland missed out on a role in “Star Wars” because he giggled all the way through his audition.
The Brit was “four or five auditions in” for the part of Finn when he lost his cool in front of casting directors, while trying to act with a woman playing a drone.
“I remember doing this scene with this lady, bless her, and she was just a drone,” Tom tells Backstage. “So I was doing all of this, like, ‘We gotta get back to the ship!’ And she was going, ‘Bleep, bloop. bloop, bleep, bloop.’ ”
“I just couldn’t stop laughing. I found it so funny. And I felt really bad, because she was trying really hard to be a convincing android or drone or whatever they’re called. I obviously didn’t get the part. That wasn’t my best moment.”

John Boyega eventually landed the role of Finn.
Holland, who went on to land the role of Spider-Man, admits the “Star Wars” audition wasn’t his only nightmare try-out.
“I’ve read the wrong lines at the wrong audition before,” Tom shares.
In the same interview, Holland admits he used to pull a little trick to draw more attention from casting directors during his early days of audition. “I would get something really wrong in the first take in the room, so that the casting director would be like, ‘You should try and do it a little bit more like this.’ And then I would do it how I’d actually planned on doing it, and it would show them that I was really good at taking direction,” he reacalls. “That’s a little trick that I used to do, just to kind of show people that I was malleable and able to work with others.”

Tom Holland Refuses to Hide 'Much Cooler' Haircut Under Wig for 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Sequel

    WENN

The Peter Parker depicter insists on keeping his new haircut from upcoming video game adaptation ‘Uncharted’ as the actor begins to film the upcoming third Spidey film.

    Feb 12, 2021
AceShowbiz – Actor Tom Holland left Marvel bosses with little choice but to accept his change of hairstyle for the next Spider-Man movie after refusing to wear a wig.
The Brit had to start work on the follow-up to 2019’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home” in October (20), just days after completing another action blockbuster, “Uncharted”, for which he adopted a “much cooler” haircut, with shaved sides, to play adventure-seeking protagonist Nathan Drake.
However, when he arrived on the superhero set in Atlanta, Georgia, hair and wardrobe officials tried to convince him he really should don a hairpiece to resemble the nerdy Peter Parker/Spider-Man character fans had come to love him for.
“I have cool shaved sides and it’s slick at the back, and that’s not very Peter Parker,” Holland told Esquire of his “Uncharted” look.

“He (Parker)’s a bit of a loser. So they put this wig on me that was just around the sides.”
But Holland was not impressed and fought against the suggestion – and won. “For the first time in my life, I put my foot down as the leading actor and was like, ‘I’m not f**king wearing that wig,'” he shared.
“‘I’m going to have shorter hair and you’re going to have to deal with it!'”
The as-yet-untitled sequel, part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is expected to be released in December (21).
Tom Holland’s other new movies include hard-hitting crime drama “Cherry”, where he plays a struggling drug addict, and Doug Liman’s sci-fi action adventure “Chaos Walking”, where he shares screen with Daisy Ridley.

Tom Holland's Mom Upset by His Role in Hard-Hitting New Movie 'Cherry'

    Instagram

The ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ actor reveals his mother Nicola was caught off guard by his onscreen performance as a struggling drug addict in his new movie.

    Feb 11, 2021
AceShowbiz – Spider-Man star Tom Holland received an earful from his mother after upsetting her with a clip of his new crime drama “Cherry”, in which he plays a struggling drug addict.
The actor, 24, takes on the titular role as an Army veteran who self-medicates to treat his post-traumatic stress disorder and resorts to bank robbery to feed his addiction, but his mum, Nicola Frost, was left thoroughly unimpressed after receiving an unexplained sneak peek at a gruelling scene.
“Biggest mistake ever,” Tom recalled of the text drama. “I was like, ‘This is how my day’s going,’ and she was furious with me.”
“I guess I wasn’t thinking right, and I was like, ‘Do you know who would really like to see this? My mum.’ In hindsight, it was a really stupid thing to have done.”

      See also…

He continued, “I think when my mum goes to see my films in particular, the thing she likes the most are the moments she goes, ‘Oh, that’s my little boy.’ But in this film there’s nothing like that.”
Nicola and Tom’s father, Dominic Holland, eventually embraced the hard-hitting “Cherry”, and that came as a huge relief to the young star, as he treasures their opinions of his work.
He told Esquire magazine, “They were able to enjoy it as a movie and not a biopic of their son doing heroin. They are really proud, and they really liked it.”
“If I seek anyone’s approval, it would be my parents. That would be the highest level of achievement.”
Tom Holland’s other new movies include sci-fi action “Chaos Walking”, a “Spider-Man: Far From Home” sequel, and video game adaption “Uncharted”.

Tom Holland Feared He'd Be Fired by Marvel After 'Captain America: Civil War'

    Columbia Pictures

The ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ actor opens up about his anxiety of being cut as Spider-Man after making his debut as the web-crawler in the sequel to ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’.

    Jan 21, 2021
AceShowbiz – Tom Holland was unsure that he would continue to play Spider-Man even after making his debut as the web-crawler in “Captain America: Civil War”. In an interview for Variety’s Actors on Actors with Daniel Kaluuya, the Brit opens up about his anxiety of being fired by Marvel after filming the third Captain America movie.
“From the moment of shooting ‘Civil War’ to ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, I was convinced they were going to fire me,” Holland admits. “I don’t know why. ‘Civil War’ hadn’t come out yet, and I just didn’t hear anything from anyone. I can’t really explain it. It was awful.”
Thankfully, much to Holland surprise, he didn’t get fired. “…but they didn’t – obviously. It’s been crazy, mate,” the 24-year-old actor expresses his relief as he shares how he’s been enjoying playing the friendly neighborhood superhero, “I’ve loved every minute of it.”
During the interview, Holland also details the long process of audition to nab the role. “There’s three stages of life changing,” he says. “It’s weird. The audition process was horrible. It was seven months of auditioning. I must’ve done six auditions, and they don’t tell you anything.”

      See also…

But Holland seems to have a good memory of doing a screen test in Atlanta opposite Robert Downey Jr. a.k.a. Iron Man. “There was me and six other kids, and Downey was there, so we all tested with Downey, which was crazy,” he recalls. “It’s the best audition I’ve ever done, him and I were riffing off each other. My agents told me that Marvel likes you to learn the words exactly – you can’t improvise. And then, on the first take, Downey just completely changed the scene. We started riffing with each other, and I mean, to sound like a bit of a d**k, I rang my mum afterward and was like, ‘I think I’ve got it.’ ”
Holland returned for another screen test six weeks later, where he performed a fight scene with Captain America (Chris Evans). “They flew us back to Atlanta, me and one other guy, and we did this scene, which was so surreal,” he shares. “By that point, it had been an amazing enough of an experience that if I hadn’t got the part, I would’ve felt like I’d at least achieved something to get to that point.”
The “Cherry” star says he only found out that he’s officially cast as Spider-Man through the news. “I got my computer, and my dog was sitting next to me,” he says. “I type in ‘Marvel.’ I’ve still got the article saved on my computer. It said, ‘We would like to introduce our new Spider-Man, Tom Holland.’ ”
Not being able to contain his excitement, Holland says he “broke my computer, because I flipped it up in the air.” He continues, “It fell off my bed; my dog went nuts. I ran downstairs. I was telling my family, ‘I got the part! I got the part!’ And obviously, that was right about the time when Sony had got hacked, so my brother, Harry, who’s quite tech savvy, was like, ‘No. There’s no way that’s real. They would have called you. They’ve been hacked.’ And then the studio called me and gave me the news. It was so bizarre how it happened.”
Holland is currently filming the third Spider-Man movie, which has Jon Watts back at the helm. It is currently scheduled for release on December 17, 2021 in the U.S., though its subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic has postponed the production.

Tom Holland Circling Willy Wonka Role in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' Prequel

    WENN

In the upcoming movie, the ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ actor is reportedly in contention to play the major role previously played by Gene Wilder and then Johnny Depp.

    Jan 21, 2021
AceShowbiz – Tom Holland is reportedly in the frame to play Willy Wonka in the “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” prequel.
The actor – who is best known for playing Spider-Man – is among the contenders for the coveted role in the upcoming movie.
Timothee Chalamet is also being eyed for the role, according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper, which reports that Warner Bros. has been working on the prequel for a number of years.
The studio hopes that the film – which is based around the characters from Roald Dahl’s children’s novel – will go into production later this year and is planning to release the movie in March 2023.

In 2018, Ryan Gosling, Donald Glover, and Ezra Miller were all linked to the part, but they are no longer thought to be in the running for Wonka.
The first big-screen adaptation was made in 1971. Directed by Mel Stuart, it starred Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, Peter Ostrum as Charlie, and Jack Albertson as Grandpa Joe. It received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score and Wilder was nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.
In a second movie version directed by Tim Burton, Willy Wonka was played by Johnny Depp while Charlie was portrayed by Freddie Highmore. They were joined by the likes of David Kelly, Helena Bonham Carter, and Noah Taylor. The 2005 film grossed $475 million worldwide.
The third adaptation has been in development since 2016 after Warner Bros acquired the rights to the character from the Dahl estate.

The Russo Brothers Spill on Tom Holland's Role in Their Decision to Take on 'Cherry'

    WENN/Apple TV+/Sheri Determan

Speaking about the adaptation of the Nico Walker novel, Joe and Anthony Russo confess that the dark elements of the source material led them to coming close in turning down the chance to direct it.

    Jan 18, 2021
AceShowbiz – Filmmaking brothers Joe and Anthony Russo were ready to turn down the chance to direct “Cherry (2021)” before realising “Avengers” star Tom Holland would be the crime drama’s perfect leading man.
The siblings were initially unsure about how to approach the adaptation of the Nico Walker novel of the same name, about an army medic who resorts to robbing banks after struggling with a substance abuse problem upon returning home, because the source material was so “dark”.
Speaking to Variety, Anthony said, “I don’t even know that Joe and I wanted to commit to doing the movie at all until we thought of Tom in the role. The book is dark, very complicated, and that’s what its value is.”
“We wanted to make this movie because it speaks to very relevant and current issues dealing with opioid addiction that has to do with the military experience, the modern military experience. It was a very original take on those experiences, specific to the modern generation.”

“We wanted to do a version of the movie that was palatable, not like taking your medicine.”
It was only when the Russo Brothers began considering how Tom’s involvement would transform the movie that they started to understand how they would tackle the adaptation.
“Tom is so likeable. He’s such an appealing actor, and so good,” Anthony gushed. “Once we started thinking about him as a character, the whole movie opened up for us as a possibility because he was our road to an accessible, exciting, enjoyable version of a difficult film.”
“Cherry” will open in theatres in late February (21), before premiering on Apple TV+ in March.

Tom Holland Battling His Inner Demon in First 'Cherry' Trailer

    [embedded content]

The ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ actor plays a nerd youngster falling in love who suffers from PTSD after joining the army and returning from a war zone in the Russo brothers movie.

    Jan 15, 2021
AceShowbiz – Tom Holland gets into yet another dark role following his raved performance in “The Devil All the Time”. Putting aside his goofy and clumsy persona, the Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man in Marvel Cinematic Universe plays a druc-addicted bank robber in “Cherry” from “Avengers” films’ directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, which first full trailer has arrived for viewing pleasure.
In the newly-released sneak peek, Holland’s title character is first depicted as a nerd young man who falls in love. Against the odds, he decides to trade his peaceful life for an intense life in battle zone by joining the army.
Upon returning from war where he served as an Army medic, Cherry is not the same person. He’s suffering “from post-traumatic stress disorder” and “becomes a serial bank robber after an addiction to drugs puts him in debt.”

Also starring Ciara Bravo as Cherry’s love interest, the crime drama is adapted from the novel of the same name by Nico Walker, who based the titular character on himself. The official description of the movie doesn’t reveal much of the storyline but this, “In an epic odyssey of romance, war, drug addiction, and crime, a young man (Holland) struggles to find his place in the world.”
Meanwhile, the Russo brothers said on their official Twitter account that “Cherry is the most personal film we have made. The city. The people. The story.” They went on to reveal the movie’s release date in the tweet, ” #Cherry is in theaters on February 26th and on @AppleTV March 12th.”
The filmmaking duo, who has also directed Holland in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”, previously said of Holland’s performance in the upcoming movie, “I think it’s an Oscar-worthy performance.” Joe Russo gushed, “I think [Holland] is absolutely amazing in it. He gives a gut-wrenching performance. What he does to himself emotionally and physically is unbelievable. We haven’t seen an actor in a role like this in a while. The movie spans a decade, complemented by an epic performance. And one that I certainly hope will be in the Oscar conversation.”
