    Willie Nelson and Ziggy Marley to Headline Nat Geo's Earth Day Eve Virtual Event

    Country music legend Willie Nelson and reggae star Ziggy Marley are set to share the virtual stage for a special Earth Day eve celebration.

    Classical musician Yo-Yo Ma and singer Valerie June will also be part of the pre-recorded line-up for the National Geographic event, with additional artists including Maggie Rogers, Jose Gonzalez, Angelique Kidjo, Aurora, Rostam, and rockers My Morning Jacket, who will be premiering their new music video.

    “Earth Day Eve 2021: A Virtual Celebration”, hosted by travel expert Jessica Nabongo, will also feature appearances from a variety of industry experts, such as conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall.

    Join in the fun at 8.30 P.M. ET on April 21 on the National Geographic website or YouTube channel.

    The countdown to Earth Day will then continue from 10 P.M. ET on TikTok for an online afterparty, hosted by DJ Jayda G, culminating in the midnight premiere of James Cameron’s Disney+ series “Secrets of the Whales”, narrated by Sigourney Weaver.

    About the special event, National Geographic chairman Gary Knell said, “For over 133 years, National Geographic has strived to inspire people to care more deeply for the planet. Our Earth Day Eve event – virtual and accessible to everyone – will showcase environmentally passionate artists from around the world together with some of National Geographic’s most extraordinary Explorers.”

    He continued. “From Aurora’s forest performance in Bergen, Norway, to Jane Goodall’s greeting from her home in England, the celebration will give us even more of a reason to fall in love with the place we all call home – and empower us to act to protect it.”

      Willie Nelson has re-recorded Irving Kahal and Sammy Fain’s Broadway standard “I’ll Be Seeing You” for a new Ad Council and COVID Collaborative public safety campaign to encourage people to get vaccinated.

      The country icon included the 1930s tune on his 1994 studio album, “Healing Hands of Time”, and now he’s revisiting the song from the musical “Right This Way” to serve as the soundtrack for a new ad featuring a montage of unforgettable sports moments and crowd reactions, reminding viewers what the world was like before the COVID lockdown.

      In the background, Nelson sings, “I’ll be seeing you… In all the old familiar places…That this heart of mine embraces… All day through.” He continues, “In that small cafe… The park across the way… The children’s carousel… The chestnut trees… The wishin’ well…”

      In order to bring sporting events and other aspects of everyday life before coronavirus pandemic back as quickly as possible, a simple message to urge people in getting their COVID-19 shot when it’s their turn flashed across the screen at the end of the clip. “The COVID-19 vaccines are here. We’ll see you soon,” it read.

      “I’m happy to be part of this new campaign with the Ad Council, COVID Collaborative and these sports organizations to empower millions more to get the answers they need and feel confident in getting vaccinated, like I did,” Nelson says in a statement.

      Willie, 87, got his dose of the vaccine in January and posed for a series of pictures in his car at a drive-through site. “Getting your COVID vaccine is Willie cool!” he said at the time.

      The longtime friends and pot pals plan to release the new duet later this summer.
      Confirming the news in an interview with Beats 1 host Ebro Darden, rapper Snoop insists the new track is a rallying call to bring people together following the Black Lives Matter protests.
      “The reason why we gonna make this record is because black and white matters right now, the love that we have for each other (sic),” Snoop said. “It’s not about colour; it’s about love – it’s about the appreciation of humanity. I love you as a person, Willie, I love your music… When you build that brotherhood, the colour is out the window.”
      The two previously teamed up for “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die”, which also featured Kris Kristofferson and Jamey Johnson, and “Superman”.
