Zac Efron Called Out for 'Slipping the Tongue' During 'Hairspray' Kissing Scene With Nikki Blonsky

    New Line Cinema

The ‘High School Musical’ alum apparently went a little too far when he was filming his kissing scene with co-star Nikki Blonsky for the 2007 musical romantic comedy.

    Dec 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Zac Efron was called out by “Hairspray” director Adam Shankman for “slipping the tongue” on co-star Nikki Blonsky during their big kiss.
The former “High School Musical” star played Link Larkin in the big-screen adaptation of the hit musical, opposite Blonsky as Tracy Turnblad. After an illicit romance throughout the film, Link and Tracy finally share a kiss towards the end of the movie – but Nikki revealed on the “Women on Top” podcast that the moment nearly got them a PG-13 rating due to Zac.
“He slipped (his tongue) on me!” Nikki laughed. “Adam Shankman, our director, called him on it. Adam was like, ‘Hey, whoa, just caught the tongue!’ And Adam was like, ‘No! No tongue!’ He’s like, ‘This is PG, there is no tongue!’ ”

Nikki went on to reveal that she and Zac became firm friends while shooting the film, which was released in 2007.
“Not to make every woman and gay man jealous, but he was my best friend on the set of Hairspray,” she smiled. “Even when we weren’t filming, we were together on the weekends. (He was) constantly at my apartment and I was always at his, doing his laundry when he didn’t do it. I will toss him under the bus for not doing his laundry! And he knows it!”
The movie also starred the likes of John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, James Marsden, Queen Latifah, and Brittany Snow.
It went on to receive three Golden Globe nominations including Best Actress, Musical or Comedy for Nikki Blonsky and Best Supporting Actor for John Travolta. It also got a Grammy nomination for Best Soundtrack Album.

    Instagram

The former ‘High School Musical’ star has flown to South Australia for the filming days before tough restrictions were implemented following an outbreak of coronavirus in the state.

    Nov 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Survival thriller “Gold” has fallen victims to the coronavirus pandemic. Scheduled to kick off production in November, the Zac Efron-starring film was forced to put its plans on hold following an outbreak of COVID-19 in South Australia that got Adelaide being declared a hotspot for the deadly virus.
Zac himself has, per reported by news.com.au, flown from New South Wales to South Australia two weeks earlier. The publication noted that the filming of his Stan Original movie is taking place hours away from the city of Adelaide. Daily Mail added that the “Baywatch” actor had since been spotted out and about, and was even seen with a film crew on Tuesday, November 17.
Starting midnight on Wednesday, schools, restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and universities across the state were closed as lockdown came into effect. Tough restrictions included the banning of exercising outside. People are also required to wear face masks while out in public. The measure taken to curb the spread of the virus forced Zac and the film crew into a six-day lockdown.

Many Zac’s fans were delighted that the former “High School Musical” star was also locked in the state. “Day one of #Adelaidelockdown. Another chimed in, “we might all be a bit scared in SA right now but i’m pretty sure we’ve got zac efron locked in here with us so that’s nice.”

Fans shared delights upon learning Zac Efron was also locked in South Australia due to COVID-19.
“Gold” teamed Zac up with director Anthony Hayes, who will also star in the thriller. It revolves around two strangers who stumble across giant gold nugget while traveling through a desert. The pair then device a plan to protect their finding with one leaving to find supplies and the others staying behind.
“This is an exciting, gripping and timely tale about greed, humanity, who we are, what we’ve done to the world and where we are heading if we aren’t careful,” Hayes said of the film. “To have Zac Efron as my main man on this film is an absolute gift and to see what he is creating already is like nothing we’ve seen from him before. I can’t wait to deliver this bold, visceral and cinematic film to audiences all around the world.”

Zac Efron's Lack of Singing During 'High School Musical' Reunion Angers Fans

    Instagram

Slow Wi-Fi connection is to blame for the brief appearance of the Troy Bolton depicter that has left many fans disappointed following the Disney singalong.
    Apr 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Zac Efron didn’t sing during the much anticipated “High School Musical” segment on Thursday night’s April 16, 2020 Disney Family Singalong, with host Ryan Seacrest blaming “patchy Wi-Fi” for the actor’s brief involvement.
Fans of the Disney movie around the world had been hoping to see the 32-year-old reprise his role as Troy Bolton for a singalong of “We’re All In This Together” with his former castmates, including ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens. But instead of joining the rendition, Zac was on hand to introduce it instead, with Ryan explaining the screen star was in coronavirus lockdown in the “middle of nowhere” and didn’t have a good enough Internet connection for a prolonged appearance.
“Now just when you thought we couldn’t give you any more feels, I have a surprise for you,” Ryan explained. “This star is hunkered down in the middle of nowhere with patchy Wi-Fi, but he does not want to miss out on tonight.”
After being introduced by Ryan, Zac told viewers, “Hi everyone, I hope that you’re safe, and that you’re healthy and you’re doing as well as possible during these unprecedented times.”
‘It’s my greatest pleasure to introduce a musical performance by some of my oldest friends, and some new ones. I hope you enjoy – and remember: we are all in this together.”
Vanessa was then joined by Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, and Lucas Grabeel to belt out the “High School Musical” classic, with guest appearances from stars of other Disney shows such as “Descendants”, “Zombies”, and “Raven’s Home”.
But Zac’s absence from the performance didn’t go down well with viewers, many of whom took to social media to complain.
“They really added all these actors to make up for zac efron not wanting to sing with the hsm (High School Musical) cast,” one person wrote, while another added, “Really offended by the fact that Zac Efron didn’t sing with the HSM cast, I’m like EXTREMELY offended.”
