Zayn Malik and Ingrid Michaelson Deliver Surprise Duet About Hope and Release

Calling the ‘Pillowtalk’ hitmaker a perfect fit for ‘To Begin Again’, the ‘Girls Chase Boys’ singer reveals that she worked on the track the night Joe Biden won the U.S. presidential election.

    Mar 18, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Zayn Malik has teamed up with “Girls Chase Boys” singer Ingrid Michaelson on a surprise and hopeful new duet. The stars dropped “To Begin Again”, in which they sing about picking up the pieces following a near-apocalypse, on Wednesday, March 17.

Ingrid started work on the track she completed with Sarah Aarons, who co-wrote Zedd’s hits “Stay” and “The Middle”, the night Joe Biden won the U.S. presidential election in November 2020.

“There was so much joy in my neighborhood,” Michaelson says. “Pots and pans being banged out of windows. Horns and whistles. Clapping. Singing! The collective sigh of relief resonated with me in such a way that I had to get it out musically. I sat at the piano and wrote most of the song right there in 15 minutes.”

After linking up with Aarons, the singer realized the song was a duet and set about recruiting new dad Zayn. “I love Zayn’s voice, especially when he goes high and sweet and sad,” she adds. “It was the perfect fit. The song is a song of hope and of release… So, we reached out to him, and they immediately were like, ‘Yeah. He loves it. He wants to do it.’ ”

Weeks later, without even speaking to Ingrid, he had recorded his vocals and the song was complete. “I think he’s a private guy,” Michaelson told Zane Lowe in a new Apple Music interview. “I think he does what he believes in and he doesn’t do what he doesn’t believe in. And the fact that he chose to sing on my song is, like, extremely amazing.”

Zayn Malik Curses Out Grammy Bosses Ahead of 2021 Ceremony

    Instagram

The former member of the One Direction is not holding back as he slams Grammy Awards and the Recording Academy ahead of the ceremony this coming weekend.

    Mar 10, 2021
AceShowbiz – Zayn Malik has joined the growing list of stars who have taken aim at the Grammys bosses, insisting the awards show has little to do with talent.
As Recording Academy officials prepare for this year’s prizegiving on Sunday (14Mar21), the former One Direction star has revealed he has never been a fan of music’s big night or the people behind the scenes.
In a surprise tweet, new dad Zayn blasts, “F**k the grammys and everyone associated. Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there’s no nomination considerations. Next year I’ll send you a basket of confectionary.”

It isn’t clear what prompted Zayn’s attack, but it comes after Grammy bosses were hammered by critics for failing to honour The Weeknd with a single 2021 nomination, despite his stellar 2020, during which he broke chart records with his album “After Hours” and single “Blinding Lights”, which this week chalked up a full year in the Billboard Hot 100 top 10.
The Canadian star previously took aim at Grammy bosses after his nominations snub, writing, “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”
He later admitted he was “blindsided” by the snub.
While The Weeknd was completely overlooked at the Grammys, the “Save Your Tears” singer is aiming to strike gold at the 2021 Juno Awards in his native country. He dominates the nominations with six nods including Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, and Album of the Year honours, as well as Songwriter of the Year, Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year, and the Juno Fan Choice trophy.

  • Boyzone Eyeing to Cast Zayn Malik for Their Biopic

    WENN

Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch, and Mikey Graham are reportedly working on a movie about their rise to stardom and the former One Direction star is eyed for one of the lead roles.
    Sep 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Irish boyband Boyzone are hoping to emulate recent box office hits “Bohemian Rhapsody and “Rocketman” with a biopic of their own.
The five-piece was formed in 1993 with Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham, and the late Stephen Gately, and scored hits with songs including “Words”, “Love Me for a Reason”, and “No Matter What”.
Speaking to British tabloid The Sun, Lynch teased details of the bandmates’ movie plans, describing the venture as an “amazing project.”
“We’re talking to Hollywood (executives) about turning the Boyzone story into a movie, with an Irish tone,” the 44 year old shared. “It’s important that it’s done right, telling each member’s own story within the piece, about them growing up and at school.”

“We’re trying to avoid the whole musical side of things, it’s about the rawness of Ireland and growing up in working-class families and making it into one of the biggest bands in the world.”
He went on to declare the film would focus more on the band members and their lives rather than the ins and outs of the music industry – as that would be “boring.”
While details have yet to be finalised, Shane already has an idea of who he’d like to portray him, telling the publication, “I would love Zayn Malik to play me. I like his quirks, I’ve always looked at him as being similar to me – edgy and different.”
Following 25 years of hits, Boyzone appeared to call it quits with their farewell album, “Thank You & Goodnight”, which was released in 2018.

  • One Direction Members Celebrate 10th Anniversary While Zayn Malik Stays Silent

    Instagram

Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan mark the group’s first decade anniversary on social media by giving each other a shout-out while Zayn remains mum.
    Jul 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – The former members of boy band One Direction have marked the 10th anniversary of their formation on talent show “The X Factor” by thanking each other and fans for the ride so far.
During the bootcamp rounds of the U.K. series, on 23 July, 2010, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik were put together as a group, and went on to reach the finale of the contest.
They became international superstars and remained a five-piece until 2016 when Malik quit to go solo. The remaining bandmates then announced a hiatus, which has been in place since the beginning of 2017 – with no signs of ending.
Despite fans’ hopes of a 10th anniversary reunion, Niall, Harry, Liam, and Louis remain committed to solo careers, but they took time out on Thursday (23Jul20) to jump on social media and acknowledge their anniversary.
Posting a shot of himself and his four bandmates on Twitter, Style wrote, “I’ve been struggling to put into words how grateful I am for everything that’s happened over the last ten years. I’ve seen things and places that I’d only ever dreamt of when I was growing up.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with some of the most incredible people, and gained friendships that I know I will treasure for the rest of my life. None of this would be possible without the support you’ve given along the way. And for that, I will be forever thankful. I just can’t believe it’s been ten years. Thank you to our crew, our team, and everyone else who helped us along the way. To all the fans, I love you, and I thank you with all my heart. You did it all, and you changed everything.”
“And finally… to the boys,” he added. “I love you so much, and I couldn’t be prouder of everything we achieved together. Here’s to ten.”
Horan added, “When I met these four gents there was no way I thought we would go on to do what we did. So many unbelievable memories we shared together. We felt the adoration of millions from around the planet on a daily basis and it was mind blowing.”
“It’s such a major part of our lives and always will be. Cheers to US today boys and thank you to all you beautiful people who have supported us over the last 10 years.”
Tomlinson also jumped on Twitter to mark the occasion, writing, “Too many incredible memories to mention but not a day goes by that I don’t think about how amazing it was. @NiallOfficial @Harry_Styles @LiamPayne @zaynmalik. So proud of you all individually.”
And Liam Payne added a screenshot of a text he sent his father on the day One Direction formed, which featured the first photo of the group and read “Im in a band (sic).”
He wrote, “What a journey… I had no idea what we were in for when I sent this text to my Dad ten years ago at this exact time the band was formed. Thanks to everyone that’s supported us over the years and thanks to the boys for sharing this with me #10YearsOfOneDirection.”
One Direction have also released a special five-minute video documenting their time together, featuring behind-the-scenes footage from their music promos and tours.

  • Zayn Malik Fans Urge Spotify to Remove Uma Kompton's 'Islamophobic' Song 'Zayn Did 9/11'

    WENN

Many people agree that the offensive song ‘does not deserve a platform’ in the slightest bit, prompting them to urge streaming sites to remove it from their platforms.
    Jul 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Haters and trolls will always be there to attack celebrities even when they do not do anything wrong. Zayn Malik is currently experiencing this after fans discovered an old, offensive song that attacked the British singer. It led them to urge streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music to remove the song from the sites.
The song itself is titled “Zayn Did 9/11” and is performed by Uma Kompton, an infamous troll who made a lot of offensive remarks in the past. In the song itself, which was released back in 2017, Uma can be heard singing, “Zayn did 9/11/ Zayn did 9/11/ Zayn did 9/11/ Don’t bomb those buildings, bomb this p***y.”
    [embedded content]
Even though Zayn has yet to comment on the song, many people have already come to his defense to the point that the hashtag “Remove it for Zayn” started trending on Twitter. One of them said on the micro-blogging site, “The amount of racism and hate people showed to Zayn.. It’s unbelievably disrespecting.. No one really cares huh? Zayn is the most kind and good person in the world..he’s gone through islamophobics, racists. It’s awful and disgusting.. Don’t just tweet, Report.”
“I felt sick listening to this how can some people be SO RACIST? Report this f**ker for Gods sake,” someone else wrote. “zayn doesn’t deserve these s**t. this is not only about being direspectful towards zayn, but it’s also about islamphobic,” another said, while one other echoed the sentiment, “zayn deserves better. this racist and islamophobic song does not deserve a platform. it needs to be removed.”
For now, Uma Kompton’s name is still accessible on Spotify. However, users can no longer listen to the offensive song.

Liam Payne Knows Zayn Malik's Heart Was Not in One Direction Long Before Departure

    WENN

Speaking about his former bandmate, the ‘Strip That Down’ hitmaker recalls the time the ‘Pillowtalk’ singer told the band he was forced to go to ‘The X Factor U.K.’ audition by his mother.
    Apr 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Liam Payne knew Zayn Malik wouldn’t stay in One Direction as his mum had to convince him to aim for pop stardom.
The band was formed by Simon Cowell and producers from five contestants on U.K. talent show “The X Factor” in 2010, going on to finish third but becoming that year’s most commercially successful act.
However, Liam reveals that he always knew Zayn’s heart wasn’t in the band long before his departure in March 2015, as the “Pillowtalk” hitmaker told his bandmates his mum convinced him to audition against his instincts.
“I remember Zayn telling us the story that it was his mum got him to go to the audition the day he didn’t want to go and that was literally what we saw all the way through One Direction,” the “Strip That Down” hitmaker tells Britain’s Daily Star newspaper.
Discussing his former bandmate’s attitude, he says that the Pillowtalk hitmaker, who hasn’t performed live since 2016 due to anxiety issues, loves making music, but hates the trappings of fame.
“Some people are made for this thing but Zayn enjoys the side of the music where he just gets to make music,” Liam explains. “I don’t think he enjoys what comes with it. I think he has to be very careful where he treads.”
“He likes to make songs and his songs do very well but at the same time he doesn’t really like to go out and perform the songs. He doesn’t really like going out and doing the press stuff that surrounds it in the crazy little world that we live in.”

Zayn Malik's Leaked Single 'Hurt' Suggests Gigi Hadid Hurts Him 'the Worst'

    WENN/Will Alexander

The former One Direction member and the daughter of model Yolanda Hadid, who were first linked romantically to each other in 2015, went on and off before splitting for good in early 2019.
    Apr 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Zayn Malik seems to be left butt-hurt by his relationship with Gigi Hadid. On Monday, March 30, an unreleased song of the former One Direction member titled “Hurt” surfaced online, and it suggested that the Victoria’s Secret model has hurt him “the worst.”
In the leaked track, the 27-year-old singer can be heard singing, “You know me the best but you hurt me the worst/ Every single thing you know about me is every single thing you use to only hurt.” He continues, “I know I should let go now (but I know, but I know), no one else feels like home, yeah/ You know just what to say to make me stay, make me stay/ One more dose of the pain.”
The song itself was written in 2017, one year prior to the release of the “Pillowtalk” hitmaker’s album “Icarus Falls”. Fans were quick to voice their disapproval of its leak with one in particular noting, “This is the THIRD time someone has allowed one of Zayn’s track to be leaked. We stand by Zayn in all of this and know he deserves better from his team and from fans #WeLoveYouZayn.”
In the love department, Malik began dating Hadid in 2015, only months after his split from ex-fiancee and Little Mix member Perrie Edwards. The Sia Furler-collaborator for “Dusk Till Dawn”, however, split from the daughter of Yolanda Hadid broke up in March 2018. They got back together three months later before splitting for good in early 2019.
In November 2019, Malik and Hadid were reported to be back communicating with each other. “They went through a phase where they took time apart and weren’t communicating at all, but they have been in touch recently. She is supportive of him. They chat here and there but it’s been casual,” a source explained to E! News before adding that the model “has always had a soft spot for Zayn and they have a lot of history together.”
