Jack Whitehall admits he was 'terrified' he had passed on coronavirus to his dad

Jack Whitehall has opened up about his coronavirus diagnosis and revealed he was scared he’d passed on the disease to his father Michael, 80.

The comedian, who is spending lockdown with girlfriend Roxy Horner, explained he contracted the life-threatening bug at the start of lockdown but has since recovered.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Times earlier this week, Jack said: “We went over for dinner as the lockdown was just about to start. I have had Covid. I had it the first week of the lockdown.

“At that point, I was absolutely ‘zero contact’. I had to be so careful, and was really careful not to leave the house, and to follow the guidelines in the right way.”

Jack admitted that prior to testing positive for the virus, he had spent time with Michael and was “terrified” he had infected his dad.

“I was really terrified that I’d seen Michael the week before and had no idea that I had it,” he said.

“It was a very scary couple of weeks, not wanting to hear him cough on the other end of the phone.”

“I realise that a lot of people would have been going through that, and a lot of people are experiencing this right now, and how scared they must be. That feeling that you could give it to someone you love is totally overwhelming,” he concluded.

Elsewhere in the interview, Michael, a former theatrical agent, admitted he was “lucky” to have wife Hilary with him during lockdown.

Jack has been spending time in quarantine with girlfriend Roxy, with the pair going official with their romance just before the UK-wide lockdown was implemented.

Jack has been regularly showing off the lockdown escapades on Instagram, and posted one video of Roxy cutting his hair.

Not impressed with the outcome, the TV star admitted the trim was “very severe” and was left with a mullet that his girlfriend failed to tell him about.

Speaking to Chris Moyles, he said: “She cut my hair on Sunday and as you can see it was very severe. It was like a proper bald patch here where she attacked a little too vigorously, and I think I had a mullet for some time as well, which she hadn’t told me about.”
