Coronation Street's Johnny in downward spiral as he hallucinates dead son

Coronation Street viewers are in for a difficult set of episodes next week, as Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) starts going down a worrying spiral.

New Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that Johnny will start hallucinating his dead son Aidan, who was played by Shayne Ward.

As the week opens up, Johnny is asked for a game of pool by a fellow prisoner, Joe, but he declines as he’s too wrapped up in his own problems.

Joe is disappointed, and Johnny later finds out from Gary Windass (Mikey North) that he took an overdose in his cell.

Johnny realises that the game of pool had been a cry for help and is devastated.

Johnny begins hallucinating in prison

Back on the street, Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) is worried that Joe’s overdose will bring back dark memories about Aidan’s death.

In prison, Johnny begins imagining a man in a suit, though that soon turns into mice and cockroaches – and eventually Aidan.

Carla (Alison King) goes to visit him in prison and Jenny urges her to find out how he really is, as she’s worried sick.

Johnny tells Carla he’ll see the doctor if she doesn’t tell Jenny

Johnny eventually admits that his eyesight is going and that he’s hallucinating, wondering if he’s losing his marbles, leaving Carla concerned.

He promises Carla that he’ll have a word with the prison doctor about his hallucinations, as long as she doesn’t tell Jenny.

Johnny goes back to his cell with no intention of speaking to the doctor.

Back home, Carla assures Jenny that everything is fine.

Carla breaks her promise and tells the prison about Johnny’s hallucinations

Later, Johnny is thrown when he’s summoned for a visit to the doctor, with Carla having broken her promise and spoken to the prison about her concerns for his health.

Soon, Johnny is convinced he can see a ginger cat and confides in Gary that he’s really struggling with his eyesight, and says he feels like he’s cracking up.

Gary pushes him to get some help.

He calls Carla and says that thanks to her big gob, he’s being referred to a psychiatrist.

She urges him to open up to Jenny about what’s going on.

Johnny finally gives Jenny a call and tells her everything, including that he thinks he can see Aidan.

Jenny’s heart goes out to him, but she’s left angry that Carla kept her in the dark about all of it.

Johnny’s son Aidan took his own life in devastating scenes back in 2018, after his life came crashing around him.

His relationship with Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) went down in flames after she discovered his affair with Maria (Samia Longchambon).

Eva and Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) teamed up to get revenge on him, putting the factory out of business.

Aidan secretly struggled with depression in the months afterwards, before he sadly took his own life.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights on ITV
