Over the past few weeks she’s been struggling to get on with trouble-making youngster Lily Slater ( Lillia Turner) so Ruby comes up with a plan.

The nightclub owner presents the kids with a worry box, per Isaac Baptiste’s idea, what they write and put inside stays secret, but Lily is sceptical.

Ruby can’t help but peek at Lily’s worry and it doesn’t take long for Lily to cotton on and she storms off.

Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) advises Ruby to be warmer but Ruby suddenly doubles over in pain.

At the GP surgery, Ruby leaves her appointment in tears, telling Jean she’s pregnant but the doctor explained it’s highly likely she’ll miscarry.

They later bond and Jean encourages Ruby to write her own worry for the box.

Ruby tells Martin the news from the doctor and insists she’ll be fine alone.

She later spends the evening with Lily, taking comfort in finding her feet as a step mum.
