The Chase viewers completely baffled as contestant shares unusual career choice

The Chase fans were left confused as they watched on from the comfort of their own homes after one contestant opened up about his career.

While introducing himself, George revealed to host Bradley Walsh that he was a “professional gambler”, leaving fans confused as they didn’t know such a career existed.

Shortly after the revelation, Bradley exclaimed: “Oh, nice! Ok, is that poker and stuff? Or? What is it?”

George, from London, explained to Brad that he often bets on sporting events and has a secret “algorithm” while betting.

He added: “This is exactly what I do, I write algorithms to bet on sporting events.

The dad-of-one revealed that he would be using any winning cash to open a premium bonds account for his young son.

Aside from gambling, George admitted that he was a logic puzzle enthusiast, admitting he was the United Kingdom’s sudoku champion on three occasions

During the cash builder round, Bradley revealed he was “looking forward” to George going head-to-head with Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, who offered him a low offer of £1,000 and a higher offer of £35,000 after he racked up a total of £5,000 in his round.

The Londoner opted to keep his initial £5,000 as the team were one member down.

Taking to Twitter, fans couldn’t help but share their confusion, with one writing: “A professional gambler. Never knew such a thing existed.”

“What the hells a professional gambler?! #TheChase,” asked a second.

Before a third typed: “Professional Gambler… Seems a good occupation. #TheChase.”

“Professional gambler?? What a job! #TheChase,” exclaimed a fourth.

However, many were left shocked that George opted to remain on his original offer and chose not to accept the higher offer from Anne.

“Not much of a gambler #TheChase,” fumed one.

While a second added: “Didn’t go high, not much of a gambler after all then! #TheChase.”

A third went on to joked: “Not a very good gambler is he #TheChase.”

During the final chase, George, Michelle and Peter managed to rack up a 17 point head start as they went head to head with Anne.

However, luck was not in their favour, despite pushing the chaser back on three occasions, they were caught with just seven seconds remaining, meaning they left empty-handed.
