Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway leads tribute as GMB pal leaves after lengthy career

Good Morning Britain will lose one of its longest standing members as the floor manager Tim is waving goodbye after 40 years.

Presenters Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway shared the news at the end of Friday morning’s show as they confirmed his exit and said goodbye to their well established colleague.

Ben led the way as he said: “Just a quick goodbye to our floor manager Tim who is leaving the show today, he has been with us for 40 years. We will miss you Tim.”

Kate added: “Let’s have a look at Tim, he’s been with us for 140 years – and Ranvir knows you very well.”

As they said goodbye to Tim, the camera panned to him stood behind a second screen while donning a visor as he gave a wave to the audience.

The two hosts were not the only ones to share their final goodbye to Tim, with Davina McCall, who has also worked alongside him, joining in with the tribute.

She wrote: “Oh my God Tim is leaving?? Floor manager extraordinaire. 40 years! Been in telly longer than me! GMB please give him a cuddle from me.”

Tim’s appearance on camera wasn’t his first time on screen after the floor manager made an accidental blunder last year when he walked on screen during a live show.

At the time, host Adil Ray shouted: “Was that a crew member walking in front of the shot?!”

Before adding: “The floor manager, very good,” while Susanna laughed: “Like an action shot!”

The pair chuckled at Tim before moving on to the next segment, so it’s clear he certainly gave the hosts a laugh from time to time.

The emotional exit comes just a month after Susanna Reid shared the final goodbye to producer Ben Briscoe.

Last month, Susanna said her goodbyes to their colleague on air as she said at the time: “Just before we go to Lorraine, just wanted to say a huge thank you to our lovely Ben Briscoe who is leaving us for pastures new.

“He is our producer this morning, going to miss you Ben.”

Lorraine Kelly was also waiting to say her goodbye to Ben as she said she will also miss the producer as he left for his next step.

GMB continues weekdays from 6am on ITV.
