BGT's Flintz and Taylor star breaks down in tears as he forgets lyrics during tense final

Britain’s Got Talent finalists Flintz and Taylor broke down in tears in an emotional display after Flintz forgot the words to their song.

The rapper was visibly shakey as nerves got the better of him when the pair took to the stage to perform their original track for the live final.

The young musician was then comforted by the judges as Amanda Holden also broke down in tears due to the intensity of the situation.

Simon Cowell then swore as he explained that nobody would “give a s ***” about the blunder, before apologising to his son Eric for his language.

Flintz, 23, from London, and 17-year-old Taylor from Birmingham, met online during the Covid-19 pandemic and began performing together over the internet.

The duo met in real life for the first time on the day of their BGT audition and have successfully competed in the competition after Alesha Dixon chose them as her Golden Buzzer act.

However, their grand finale performance didn’t go to plan as the intense atmosphere appeared to get the better of Flintz.

While he pulled himself together and found his place and carried on the performance of the song, the mistake clearly affected the talented star and he again broke down in tears as hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donelly attempted to comfort him.

But his fears were then soothed by the judges who reassured Flintz with their opinions that his tears were unwarranted.

Alesha said: “Artist to artist it doesn’t matter what anyone tells you tonight, you’re gonna feel bad. And I know what that feels like. You’re gonna come off stage and you’re gonna beat yourself up about this.

“What you’ve done, what you guys have achieved together on this show, far outweighs any teeny tiny mistake you just made up there. And I promise you this you are going to inspire so many other kids to get out there and fight because this music industry is hard. This is just the beginning. Please try and be calm, I love you, I really really love you.”

Breaking down in tears herself Amanda added: “Sorry, it’s made me emotional now. Honestly, it doesn’t matter. You smashed it this evening. It’s real.

“You’re so passionate about what you do that all your emotions just got in there. It shows how much it means to you. That comes across. What we need now is authenticity and joy and truth… and that is what you brought to that performance.”

Simon followed: “I actually thought this was your best performance so far. Because who gives a – sorry Eric – s*** if you forget lyrics. The most important thing was it reminded me of how much this means to you. Secondly, it reminded me of your friendship. And thirdly the song actually had a great hook in it.

“Do not worry about what happened for a second, because it happens all the time. I’m told off all the time, I forgot this, forgot that. Who cares. I’m not trying to be patronising, this was your best performance by a clear mile.”
