Denise Welch's 'personal beef' with Prince Andrew as he 'slammed Diana after her death'

Denise Welch has revealed her reasons why she dislikes Prince Andrew on Loose Women after she revealed she has “personal beef” she had with the Duke of York.

During Friday’s instalment of the popular ITV show, the star confessed how her opinion of the royal member changed when she allegedly overheard him speaking badly of the late Princess Diana.

After meeting the 61-year-old on several occasions, she shared her thoughts on him as the panel discussed the latest update in his upcoming civil trial against his alleged victim Virginia Giuffre.

As Frankie Bridge, Kay Adams and Judi Love shared their thoughts on the latest developments, the mum-of-two spoke up about her experience with the royal member on air.

She confessed: “I have had personal beef with Prince Andrew, I’ve met him on a couple of occasions.

“He really, really upset me once in the way that he spoke about his late sister-in-law Diana with such distain in front of a group of people such as me who he didn’t know from a bar of soap.

“And I was horrified because it wasn’t really long after [her death] and I had no skin in the game yet except for someone that loved Diana from afar but I was just horrified by it.”

She went on to add: “Then we had met at another couple of occasions so, I never liked him as a person.”

It comes after the Queen stripped her son of his HRH status as well as his military titles and royal patronages as he prepares to defend himself as a private citizen in New York for allegedly having sex with the American at the age of 17.

The palace released a statement confirming the change in royal titles as the sexual abuse case continues over in the US.

It read: ”With the Queen’s approval and agreement, the Duke of York’s military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to the Queen.

“The Duke of York will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen.”

On Wednesday it was announced that Virginia Giuffre is suing Prince Andrew in federal court in New York alleging that she was forced to have sex with many of Jeffrey’s friends – including Prince Andrew – when she was 17.

He has strongly denied all allegations put forward to him and his representatives say that fighting the case has become a “marathon not a sprint.”
