All of Megan Fox's tattoos and their hidden meanings – including matching MGK ink

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly have sent the internet wild after they announced they have got engaged.

The handsome pair are one of the hottest celebrity couples out there right now, with fans pouring over their every move.

It’s no surprise that quite a stir has been caused by the realisation that the duo have got matching tattoos.

The news of the harmonised ink was broken when the couple gave an interview to GQ – but many feel they should have seen it coming given the global obsession with the pair and their well-documented love of body art.

The inked-up lovers got the message “the darkest fairytale” each written on their bodies, which is something that they say has significance to both of them.

The GQ interview is understood to have taken place while the inking was done, and the message is something that Fox says “alludes back to one of the first text messages we ever sent each other”.

While Kelly opted to get his on the hip, Fox instead went for the forearm – but this romantic body styling is far from the first for the Transformers star. We take a look at all of her tattoos to date.

Marilyn Monroe

Megan Fox got her Marilyn Monroe tat removed in 2011 – she used to be her idol. But the Jennifer’s Body star got the tattoo removed because she no longer aligned with the identity and some of the values of the legendary singer.

The actress has previously told Italian magazine it had “negative energy”.

Shakespeare quote

On her back she has the William Shakespeare quote: “We will all laugh at gilded butterflies.”

The line is taken from King Lear, while on the back of her neck she has the Chinese symbol for strength.

This can’t often be seen because Fox tends to wear her hair down to events, keeping it hidden from eyes and cameras.

Poems and Quotes

Fox’s Nietzsche can be seen on her ribcage

Not always that easy to see on the red carpet, she has writing transcribed on her ribcage.

Written on her side, the Friedrich Nietzsche quote reads: “Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.”

Elsewhere on her torso, she has another quote that reads: “There once was a little girl, who never knew love until a boy broke her heart.”

Crescent moon

The inside of her ankle is home to one of her oldest tats – a crescent moon laid over the top of a star. At the time of writing, Fox hasn’t explained the meaning behind it.

Fox has spoken about her interest in astrology in the past, Insider reports.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! she said: “There’s something to it, although we don’t have all the information, which makes it easy for people to take advantage of each other.”

Yin-Yang

This all-black art is also an older piece and is thought to mean balance.

It is thought to be close to the site of her newest addition.

The symbol of yin and yang are thought to be rooted in ancient Chinese religion and the Daoism philosophy. Her body art is however slightly different to the more commonly seen black and white symbol.

Spanish writing on the collarbone

On her left collar bone, Fox has “el pistolero” written. She shocked fans in 2020 when she appeared at the American Music Awards sporting the new design. El pistolero means “the gunman”, which is thought to be Machine Gun Kelly’s nickname for her.

The outing at the awards was the couple’s red carpet debut together, where they caused quite a stir.

And, of course, it needs no further introduction – the already legendary transcription of “the darkest fairytale”.

The newest addition and will no doubt serve as a reminder to the time she got engaged.
