Emmerdale's Ryan 'set for further heartbreak' as new character twist 'sealed'

Emmerdale’s Ryan Stocks could be set for further heartbreak soon, as fans are predicting a brand-new character could be introduced to the ITV soap with a close relationship to him.

Charity’s long-lost son Ryan had his world rocked on Monday night as he received the news that his adoptive mum Irene had died.

And things only got worse as Charity refused to take Ryan’s calls, leaving Mackenzie to ferry him to his brother’s house to grieve – with Charity repeatedly putting her foot in her mouth when it came to her son.

On Tuesday, Mackenzie broke the news not-so-gently to Charity after she compared the two of them to kids in another rant.

And during a discussion with Ryan, Mack reflected on meeting his adoptive brother for the first time, telling him: “It was great meeting your brother yesterday – sad but great.”

A downtrodden Ryan agreed: “Yeah, he’s lovely.”

Mack went on: “He’s so like you – talk about chilled. And then there’s your blood family.”

Later, Ryan’s brother’s name was confirmed as Josh.

But could Ryan be set for even more heartbreak as his brother enters the equation? Although he could prove a shoulder to cry on at the moment, characters with good intentions rarely enter Soapland – and it could simply bring the tragedy of losing his mum closer to home.

Ryan has been relying on Mackenzie

And with Charity hardly proving to be the support Ryan needs, he’ll be more vulnerable than ever.

Taking to Twitter, one fan predicted: “Ok Josh is Ryan’s brother who I don’t remember EVER being mentioned before and I bet he turns out to be dodgy as f***”.

Someone else said: “They gotta be introducing Ryan’s brother at some point surely, with all these mentions he has been getting!”

Rhona’s world will also be rocked by a newcomer

Another said: “Oh great, Charity’s son Ryan has a brother! Another new character for future reference #Emmerdale.”

He wouldn’t be the first new character to enter the Dales with an ulterior motive, as Pierce Harris’ son is soon set to cause havoc for Rhona, as confirmed by soap bosses.

Marcus will inevitably dredge up bad memories for Rhona, who was in an abusive relationship with Pierce for years before he was sent to prison.

Emmerdale airs weekdays from 7pm on ITV.
