Piers Morgan explains Ghislaine Maxwell photo and says he'll block fans who share it

Piers Morgan has hit out at fans who keep posting a snap of him posing alongside convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.

In the snap, the former GMB host can be seen wearing his traditional black suit with a red tie, holding a glass of wine in his hand as he beams next to Maxwell, who last week was found guilty of sex trafficking a minor.

She was convicted of recruiting and grooming teenage girls for sexual encounters with the late Jeffrey Epstein between 1994 and 2004.

Aged 60, it is now likely she will spend the rest of her life behind bars.

But Piers has made his opinion of Maxwell very clear, as he clapped back at Twitter users who raised the picture of them together with questions flooding in.

He explained: “To everyone gleefully sending me this photo: I met Ghislaine Maxwell at a book launch in New York in 2013. We spoke for 5 minutes about her father Bob who once owned the Daily Mirror.

“She seemed nice. Obviously, she’s a monster. Sadly, I’m not a psychic. Hope this helps.”

He later replied to another fan who questioned him in a since-deleted tweet: “Hi Craig, I’ve interviewed 1000s of people over the years, a tiny number of whom later turned out to be sex offenders.

“If you could tell me which of today’s public figures are likely to be exposed for sex crimes in the future, it would help me work out who to pose with – thanks!”

Posting pictures alongside other since-disgraced celebrity figures including Rolf Harris, Piers then tweeted: “Now I’ve (again…) explained these pix, anyone who sends me them going forward to make some fatuous nonsensical ‘GOTCHA!’ point is getting blocked.

“You’ve been warned, so no tearful ‘I was drunk, Piers, please forgive me!’ pleas for mercy if you ignore this directive.”

Piers has since called Maxwell ‘vile’ following her imprisonment

Piers posted another tweet on the subject last week, in which he dubbed Maxwell a “vile sex trafficker”, writing: “Will vile sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell now sing like a canary to avoid spending the rest of her life in prison?

“If she does, there could be a lot of rich, powerful & famous people sweating tonight… and not sweating.”
