The Chase's Mark Labbett shares relationship status after splitting from wife

The Chase’s Mark Labbett has opened about his current relationship status after he parted ways from his wife Katie – who is also his second cousin.

The 56-year-old, who shot to fame on the popular ITV quiz show as his alter-ego The Beast, explained that he was far “too busy” for love at the moment.

In 2020, as the UK slipped into a Covid-19 lockdown, many marriages and romances felt the strain, with Mark’s and his ex-wife Katie’s being one of them.

The couple, who had been married for seven years, announced that they were parting ways and blamed the coronavirus situation for their relationship woes.

At that point, Mark opted to move out of the martial home they shared in Herefordshire.

Since then the ITV star has set up base closer to London but has no future plans of moving anyone else in.

Speaking to The Sun, the brainiac told the publication: “I’m too busy for a relationship.”

Although he’s not got the time for romance, the television quizzer is certainly not shy when it comes to offers from potential partners.

When it comes to matters of the heart, The Beast has certainly got a soft spot with many female fans of the show.

Mark, who often ventures up and down the country for public appearances, has even had to hire a bodyguard as some women were become aggressive with their advances.

In a previous interview with the same publication, Mark explained: “I can safely say on any given gig I get my a**e felt up to four times.

“Every gig I get sexually assaulted. The worst one, I was wearing jeans and the woman grabbed my meat and two veg through them.”

He added: “If I’d have done that to her I’d be in the cells. I felt violated.

“I’ve got a guy I work with now and he keeps an eye for me and will detect when something like that is going to happen.”

The TV star eventually decided to leave his wife Katie after their open marriage didn’t quite work out how they’d planned.

This allowed Katie to be able to move on with her lover Scott, who Mark had known about.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
