Corrie fans vow to 'never watch soap again' after watching heartbreaking death

Coronation Street viewers were left “crying” and threatening to “never watch again” as they saw Evelyn’s beloved pooch get put down in devastating scenes.

The long-running ITV soap was back on screens on Wednesday (March 22) and it didn’t take long for the programme to bring on the waterworks.

In the episode, Evelyn learned that her dog, Cerberus has kidney failure and as a result is forced to say goodbye.

Heartbreaking scenes saw Evelyn break down in tears as she said her goodbyes to her companion.

And it didn’t take long for devastated viewers to take to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Fans were left heartbroken after watching Coronation Street

“If Cerberus dies then I’m never gonna watch Coronation Street again, I can’t cope with dogs dying,” said one upset viewer.

Another person quipped: “The dog is the best actor in this,” while someone else said: “I’m crying rn.”

A third viewer raged: “Not the dog, I can’t watch.”

“Oh god. I cannot cope with this storyline,” proclaimed another viewer.

Evelyn had to put down her beloved pooch

A fifth agreed “Oh I can’t stand it, why do animals get to us like this, I’m a mess here,”

“Anyone watching Coronation Street right now ?? I’m balling , the dog is dying, I can’t cope,” said someone else.

Another viewer chimed in: “Can’t hold back the tears.”

Cerberus has been Evelyn’s companion since she first set foot on the cobbles back in 2018 and has become as iconic as other Weatherfield animals.

Before the pooch tragically died, Roy admitted to Evelyn that he dropped an Eccles cake in the cafe and Cerberus may have eaten some of it.

Evelyn was fuming at the admission and told Roy she would never forgive him if something bad happened to her dog.

She later got a call from the vets as she rushed over to be told Cerberus was suffering from kidney failure – and the kindest thing to do was to put him to sleep.

Both Evelyn and Tyrone said goodbye to their pooch, calling him a “good boy” and their “best friend” before he was put down.
