Huge 90s girl group to reunite months after ‘explosive feud’ between members

Pop group Eternal are reuniting, Daily Star can reveal.

The 90s chart-toppers have signed up to perform together again later this year, a decade after their last high profile gig, and it has been confirmed that sisters Easther and Vernie Bennett will be taking part.

It is happening just months after the pair had an explosive feud with former members Kelle Bryan and Louise Redknapp over an offer to play at gay pride and LGBT+ events.

Eternal’s first reunion performance to be confirmed will be at the 90s Baby Festival. The two-day event will be at Barton Aerodrome in Manchester in July.

They are on the bill alongside Ronan Keating, Peter Andre, Blue and Five. Eternal had a string of hits in the 90s including Oh Baby I, Stay and Just A Step From Heaven. Their last high profile gig was in 2014 as part of ITV reality show The Big Reunion as a trio.

It comes after Louise reportedly pulled out of an Eternal reunion tour Easther and Vernie allegedly indicated they would not perform at LGBT+ events. The 90s chart stars were set to reunite next summer, with Mighty Hoopla said to have been among the shows on the agenda.

However, the Mirror reported at the time that band members Easther and Vernie “refused to play the festivals, objecting to their allegiance with the trans community”. A source was quoted as saying that in June the other members of the group “received an email from Easther and Vernie who refused to play any gay festivals or Pride”. The publication said Louise and fellow bandmate Kéllé Bryan then pulled out of the reunion.

Louise’s publicist said in a statement to Daily Mail: “A message was sent to the team putting together the Eternal reunion stating that if it was to go ahead, neither Vernie nor Easther would perform at Pride shows or LGBTQ+ festivals. This was because the duo felt that the gay community was being hijacked by the trans community and they do not support this.

“Louise is a huge supporter and ally of the LGBTQ+ community and both herself and Kéllé told the duo they would not work with anyone who held these views, and as such the reunion as a four would not be going ahead. The team behind the proposed Eternal reunion are gay including management, PR and tour promoter, and neither myself nor any of the team would work with artists who held such views about the trans community.”

After the report emerged, Louise also took to Twitter to post a picture of the Progress Pride flag. She added a heart emoji and the words “Always & forever”, which is the name of the group’s debut studio album. Louise left the group before the release of their second album and went on to have a massive solo career.
