Noughties pop star ageing in reverse as she ditches underwear on red carpet

Nelly Furtado didn’t seem to have aged since her heyday as she hit the red carpet in a jaw-dropping lace-up dress.

The singer was huge in the noughties with songs like I’m Like A Bird, Maneater and Turn Off The Light but isn’t in the spotlight as much any more. But when she stepped out in Los Angeles for The Greatest Hits premiere, she showed off just how young she still looked.

Now 45, Nelly looked sensational in a clinging maroon dress with a smokin’ hot lace number with a slit that ran all the way from the top to the bottom and exposed the singer’s toned legs. Off the shoulder, the long dress fit the star like a second skin as she shimmied up the carpet in her strappy black heels.

Her long brunette locks cascaded down her back and shone as she swirled and posed for photographers. And the star looked decades younger than her years with glam make-up, including lashings of mascara, smoky eyes and a slick of a berry-hued lipgloss.

A ring, earrings and a chunky necklace completed her polished look. Nelly, who appeared to ditch her underwear at the event, smiled for fans at the glitzy premiere of the film, in which she plays herself.

The premiere came just days after Nelly gave fans a fright when she took a tumble. The Canadian beauty was performing at the event in the US and fell onstage, with video seeming to show her landing on her elbows.

Nelly jumped back up and carried on singing at the time. But she later shared with fans on Instagram that she’d hurt herself by uploading a snap of one of her fingers looking sore.

Sharing a clip that showed her falling during the song Eat Your Man, she giggled: “Eat your man… not the stage.” “Literally left it all on the stage, including my blood,” she wrote.

Nelly burst onto the music scene in 2000 with I’m Like A Bird, which went to number 5 in the UK. She went on to have several Top 10 hits.

Her last studio album, entitled The Ride, was unveiled in 2017. Her upcoming seventh album is in the works with a new single coming next month.
