The Black Lives Matter songs ‘Black Parade’, ‘I Can’t Breathe’, and ‘The Bigger Picture’ are selected for this year’s summer playlists on the music streaming service.
    Jun 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – New tracks from Beyonce and H.E.R. reflecting the global Black Lives Matter protests have been selected by Spotify chiefs among those likely to dominate users’ summer playlists.
Beyonce’s surprise release “Black Parade”, which she debuted on Friday, June 19, 2020 alongside a campaign to promote black-owned businesses, makes the service’s Songs of Summer list – compiled using streaming numbers, future forecasting and input from Spotify’s global curation team.
Also on the rundown is H.E.R.’s “I Can’t Breathe”, which is named after one of the current slogans of the BLM movement, referencing the last words of African-American man Eric Garner before he died at the hands of police in 2014, and also uttered by George Floyd, whose death in similar circumstances in Minneapolis, Minnesota last month, May 2020 sparked the current wave of protests.
Lil Baby’s “The Bigger Picture” is another new protest track making the list, with older releases “This Is America” by Childish Gambino and “Alright” by Kendrick Lamar also tipped to dominate playlists throughout summer 2020 due to their social justice themes.
Beyonce features on the list for a second time as her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion on the rapper’s “Savage Remix” is also selected alongside DaBaby and Roddy Ricch’s “Rockstar”, which has topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
Other tracks selected include “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles, “TKN” by Rosalia and Travis Scott, as well as Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s collaboration “Rain on Me”.

Beyonce Is Not Involved in 'Black Panther 2' Despite Reports

    Instagram

It was recently reported that the ‘Formation’ singer was close to signing a $100 million deal with Disney to work on the soundtrack of the ‘Black Panther’ sequel.
    Jun 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Beyonce Knowles isn’t going to re-team with Disney in the near future. According to recent reports, the R&B diva had been offered $100 million deal to work various projects on the Mouse House, but that’s apparently not true.
Variety’s Matt Donnelly has debunked the rumors which started swirling earlier this week. He posted on Twitter, “Despite overwhelming excitement at the prospect, sources tell me there is no big Disney film deal for Beyonce, and she will not contrib to the soundtrack for #BlackPanther2.”
Giving hope of Beyonce’s possible collaboration with Disney in the future, the senior film writer for the entertainment website added, “As a self-professed proud member of the Disney family, it’s likely she’ll work w them again at some point.”

Beyonce’s ‘Black Panther 2’ rumors are debunked.
The Sun previously claimed that Beyonce was in talks to sign a $100 million deal with Disney that could see her being involved in three of the studio’s major projects. One of the projects was said to be “Black Panther 2”, for which the former Destiny’s Child member would reportedly be part of the soundtrack.
According to the U.K.’s publication, Disney was “keen to secure her for more projects” after she recently lent her voice to the character of Nala in Disney’s live-action “The Lion King (2019)”. The deal reportedly would see Beyonce narrating some of the studio’s upcoming documentaries.
For the “Lion King” remake, Bey wasn’t only part of the voice cast. She also contributed to several songs featured in the movie, including a cover of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” with Donald Glover, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as well as original songs “Spirit” and “Brown Skin Girl”. The latter song also featured Guyanese singer SAINt JHN and Nigerian singer Wizkid, with a special cameo by her and Jay-Z’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

  • Amber Riley Belts Out Beyonce's Freedom' During L.A. Protest

    WENN

The former ‘Glee’ actress delivers a powerful rendition of Queen Bey’s hit single when joining fellow protesters during a peaceful Black Lives Matter rally in Los Angeles.
    Jun 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Former “Glee” star Amber Riley called attention to the Black Lives Matter movement with a performance of Beyonce Knowles’s Freedom during a Los Angeles protest on Wednesday, June 3, 2020.
The actress and singer belted out a powerful rendition in an effort to highlight racial inequality and police brutality.
“What an honor. #blacklivesmatter #defundthepolice #prosecutekillercops,” Amber captioned a video of her performance on Instagram. “You have free agency to use every amazing gift you have to fight for truth and justice.”

The 34 year old also took to Twitter to encourage her followers to use their own voices to inspire social justice.
“We all have voices. I don’t care how many followers you have,” she wrote. “All of our voices and how we utilize our platforms is important. If it’s 10 followers, radicalize them, make them believers in themselves, that they can change the world and themselves for the better!”
In another post she added, “Don’t rely on celebrities… Do YOUR part.”
The bold statement comes in the wake of the death of George Floyd, an African-American man who was killed by police in Minnesota on May 25, 2020.
Riley’s performance came amid controversy surrounding her “Glee” co-star Lea Michele’s treatment of African-American guest star Samantha Ware. After Lea tweeted her support of the Black Lives Matter movement, Ware hit back by accusing the screen star of making her life a “living hell” when she bullied her on set and alleged Lea even threatened to “s**t in her wig.”
Following Samantha’s tweet, two other “Glee” castmates came forward to validate her story, while Amber and Melissa Benoist both weighed in by liking tweets about the scandal. Michele has since apologised for her bad behaviour.

Megan Thee Stallion Scores First No. 1 Single on Billboard Hot 100 With Beyonce Collaboration

    Instagram

Toppling Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s hit ‘Stuck With U’, ‘Savage’ has also helped the ‘Formation’ singer to join the list of 21 acts who have scored seven or more number ones.
    May 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Megan Thee Stallion has landed her first U.S. number one with a little help from Beyonce Knowles.
The pair’s “Savage” collaboration has rebounded from five to one to topple Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s hit “Stuck With U”.
The song also earns Beyonce a spot in an exclusive Billboard Hot 100 club – she is among only 21 acts who have scored seven or more number ones. She also ties Mariah Carey as the only artist to have landed chart-toppers in each of the last three decades.

Megan and Beyonce’s success continues a run of number ones for artists and guests, which began with Travis Scott (II) and Kid Cudi’s “The Scotts”, which debuted at the top on 9 May. Doja Cat’s collaboration with Nicki Minaj also hit the summit a week later, before they were replaced by Grande and Bieber.

Doja Cat’s “Say So” holds at two on the new chart, while The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” rebounds from four to three, DaBaby’s “Rockstar”, featuring Roddy Ricch, is at four, and Drake’s “Toosie Slide” rises a spot to round out the top five.
The remainder of the top 10 is: “Life is Good” by Future, featuring Drake, Roddy Ricch’s “The Box”, Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now”, “Intentions” by Justin Bieber, and Post Malone’s “Circles”, which extends its top 10-run record to 38 weeks.

Beyonce Forced to Call Off Cardi B Duet Due to Leak

    WENN

Beyonce Knowles was ready to collaborate with the ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker but the latter’s producer ruined it by prematurely announcing the project on social media.
    May 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Plans for a highly-anticipated 2017 collaboration between Beyonce Knowles and Cardi B were scrapped for good when the news leaked online, according to the producer behind the song.
Rumours about the secret project first hit headlines in October 2017, when Michael Ashby, who goes by the name Ashby the Mix Engineer, sent fans into a frenzy after posting a picture of his computer screen on his Instagram Story timeline, showing a mixing programme with a file titled, “Cardi B ft Beyonce Demo.”
He captioned the picture, “Wow this feature is big,” but stopped short of sharing any further details.
He subsequently apologised to the two stars for making the big reveal while Cardi played coy as she insisted she had never met Ashby, the engineer behind her breakout hit “Bodak Yellow”, and denied knowing anything about the proposed song.
Now producer J White Did It, who had been quietly developing the track, has opened up about the debacle, admitting the studio get-together between Beyonce and Cardi was ditched the moment Ashby made it public because the “Formation” icon is known for keeping an air of mystery around her work.
“Three years ago I had a Beyonce play with Cardi and that kinda went sour because it went viral that they was doing a song together and that cut out (sic),” J White Did It explained in an Instagram video.
“I was just as giddy as everybody else (about the collaboration),” he shared, before recalling the moment he knew that project was dead, “I was sitting there just waiting, looking on the Internet, then it leaked…”
The beatmaker, who also worked on “Bodak Yellow”, has since been granted a new opportunity to team up with Beyonce as he produced the “Savage Remix” she recently recorded with rap newcomer Megan Thee Stallion.
