Daniel Craig Confirms 'No Time to Die' as His Last Bond Movie

    Universal Pictures

During his guest-hosting gig at ‘Saturday Night Live’, the five-time James Bond depicter pokes fun at screenwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge and gives a ‘sneak peak’ at his delayed 007 film.
    Mar 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Daniel Craig has confirmed reports he won’t be back for a sixth James Bond movie.
The actor guest hosted “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend and at the top of the show he shot down rumours suggesting he was considering one more film after the delayed release of “No Time to Die” in November.
In his monologue at the top of the comedy sketch show, the Brit said, “This next James Bond film is going to be my last but it’s gonna be one of the best.”
He then poked fun at screenplay writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, suggesting the new action blockbuster will have a few nods to her hit TV drama “Fleabag”, in which she played a dysfunctional 20-something who falls in love with a priest.
“We got Phoebe Waller-Bridge from ‘Fleabag’ to come and help with the dialogue,” he said. “It’s not gonna be that different, but every so often, I will turn to the camera and I will say, ‘The name’s Bond, James Bond… Is it bad that I fancy the Pope?'”
He then offered up a “sneak peak” at “No Time to Die”, during which he portrayed an over-excited gambler surrounded by “SNL” castmembers.

Later in the show, his film’s coronavirus-related delay was referenced in a joke, with “SNL” regular Colin Jost suggesting the movie should be retitled ‘Time to Die’.

'No Time to Die' Predicted to Lose Up to $50 Million for Release Date Delay

    Universal Pictures

The scheduled April dates for the U.K., U.S. and international release of the new James Bond movie have been pushed back to November because of the growing spread of coronavirus.
    Mar 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – James Bond bosses are reportedly set to lose up to $50 million (£38 million) after pushing the release date of their latest movie “No Time to Die”.
It was announced on Thursday (March 05) that the scheduled U.K., U.S. and international release dates in April had been pushed back until November due to the global coronavirus spread and the likelihood that the pandemic would lead to cinemas being closed or, at least, attendance being significantly reduced.
And it’s now been reported that the delay in release could lead to a million-dollar loss for MGM, the studio behind the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, MGM can expect to say goodbye to between $30 million (£22.7 million) and $50 million thanks to the postponement.
This stems largely from a costly marketing campaign already being run, including a trailer spot at the Super Bowl which is reported to have cost $4.5 million (£3.4 million).
However, editors at the publication insist if movie bosses hadn’t pushed the date, and went ahead with the April releases, they could have lost an estimated $300 million (£227 million) – around 30 per cent of the predicted $1 billion (£76 million) global box office intake.

James Bond Movie 'No Time to Die' Officially Postponed Due to Coronavirus

    Universal Pictures

The global coronavirus pandemic has prompted the James Bond bosses to move back the international release of the upcoming 007 feature film from April to November.
    Mar 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – The coronavirus spread has forced James Bond bosses to rethink the release of their latest movie, “No Time to Die”.
The global pandemic has already prompted producers to scrap an upcoming Beijing premiere in China and Asian press tour, and now they’re rescheduling the U.K., U.S. and international release dates in April 2020 following requests to delay the film’s launch from fans online.
MGM, Eon and Universal executives have agreed to postpone “No Time to Die” and release the movie at the end of November.
A statement given exclusively to Deadline reads, “MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced today that after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace, the release of No Time to Die will be postponed until November 2020.”
“The film will be released in the U.K. on November 12, 2020 with worldwide release dates to follow, including the U.S. launch on November 25, 2020.”
The decision comes in the wake of an open letter sent to Bond bosses from the writers of the MI6-HQ fansite, encouraging the studio executives to “put public health above marketing release schedules.”
“With a month to go before No Time to Die opens worldwide, community spread of the virus is likely to be peaking in the United States,” the letter read. “Today, Washington declared a state of emergency. There is a significant chance that cinemas will be closed, or their attendance severely reduced, by early April.”
Urging producers to consider delaying the release instead, the missive continues, “It’s just a movie. The health and well-being of fans around the world, and their families, is more important. We have all waited over four years for this film. Another few months will not damage the quality of the film and only help the box office for Daniel Craig’s final hurrah.”
Craig will be stepping down as 007 after the film’s release.

    Mar 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – A group of James Bond fans has urged 007 producers to stall the release of “No Time to Die” until the spread of coronavirus is contained.
In an open letter to Bond bosses, writers for the MI6-HQ website are encouraging studio executives to “put public health above marketing release schedules”.
“With a month to go before No Time to Die opens worldwide, community spread of the virus is likely to be peaking in the United States,” the letter, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, reads. “Today, Washington declared a state of emergency. There is a significant chance that cinemas will be closed, or their attendance severely reduced, by early April.”

Daniel Craig Admits to Faking High Speed Chase Scenes in 'No Time to Die'

    Universal Pictures

The James Bond actor is not allowed to do his own stunts because driving while acting is deemed too dangerous in his final outing as the British 007 superspy agent.
    Feb 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – Daniel Craig was banned from driving James Bond’s iconic Aston Martin DB5 as he shot his final movie in the franchise, “No Time to Die”.
The star is departing his role as 007 after five movies and, in a chat with Top Gear magazine, he explained that he couldn’t drive and act at the same time as it was seen to be too dangerous, so his stunt driver Mark Higgins would take his place while filming high speed chase scenes.
“You know we fake it, don’t you? We’re not allowed to do that any more, although I do go driving,” the star, 51, said.
However, he added, “I was allowed to doughnut the DB5 in Matera (Italy), which was great,” referencing the move which involves spinning the car around in a tight, circular motion.
The safety measure was a likely a relief for Craig, who fell awkwardly and broke his ankle while sprinting for a scene filmed in Jamaica last May 2019, and he was required to undergo minor surgery to fix the injury.
He took two weeks off to recuperate, but was soon back in action, and later insisted he was fighting fit as he returned to set to complete work on the flick.
“No Time to Die” hits theatres in April.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge Recalls 'Challenging' Time Working on 'No Time to Die' Script

    WENN/Instar

During an interview on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Woman’s Hour’, the ‘Killing Eve’ creator admits that she had to combine Daniel Craig and director Cary Joji Fukunaga’s vision for the James Bond movie.
    Feb 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Phoebe Waller-Bridge found working on the new James Bond film “No Time to Die” “challenging” as she had to live up to Daniel Craig and director Cary Joji Fukunaga’s vision for the franchise.
The “Fleabag” and “Killing Eve” creator was brought on board late in the day to work on the script for the new movie, which is due out in April (2020).
In an interview on BBC Radio 4’s “Woman’s Hour” programme the award-winning actress/ writer revealed she had found penning scenes a challenge as she was having to combine her ideas with others.
“It was really challenging, my role there was to try and be helpful and to offer things,” the star said.
Explaining her contribution, she added: “The script was there. Cary had a really specific vision for the movie and so did Daniel, and it had been in development for a really long time and they had a script.”
“So that process for me was about stepping back and just saying, ‘I’m going to give you these options and then you can use any of them or you can get rid of all of them’, because everybody was writing on it. There were just so many ideas.”
Although, she felt at home in the writers’ room – there were reminders she was working on the set of a huge blockbuster.
“You got to meet Daniel and have these incredible conversations about this character you’ve grown up with and suddenly, when you’re on board it’s like every other job,” Phoebe gushed.
“Because everyone’s just making a story. Making a thing work. Suddenly, you’re in a room again with Post-Its on the wall, but then you’ll go to the loo and see a set being built outside for some extraordinary thing and say ‘oh this is different’.”
