  • Taylor Swift Takes on Alternative Genre for First Time Through 'Folklore'

Having surprised her fans with the new album, the ‘You Need to Calm Down’ hitmaker releases a music video for ‘Cardigan’, her first single off her latest record.
    Jul 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift’s new album “Folklore” is the first of her records to fall into the “alternative” music genre.
The 30-year-old singer dropped the record at midnight EST on (July 23), after surprising fans with news of an impending release.
Despite the fact that Taylor is most well known as a pop star, the new album is actually categorised as alternative on iTunes. Four of her previous records were classed as country albums, while she’s also dropped three pop albums.
In addition, Taylor will be submitting the record for the Best Alternative Music Album gong at the 2021 Grammy Awards, according to reports.
It’s the only award she will be eligible for in the alternative genre, as while the pop genre has awards for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album, the alternative only has the album prize.
Fans have initially responded positively to the new record, which has a running time of an hour and three minutes and features 16 songs – five of which have explicit language warnings on them.
Taylor’s followers have also started speculating about the identity of the mysterious co-writer she thanked when detailing her collaborators on “Folklore”. While she tagged almost all the writers she mentioned, she didn’t tag William Bowery – with fans immediately speculating the name is a pseudonym.
After discovering there are no registered songwriters or producers named William Bowery, speculation began building that Bowery is another name for Taylor’s longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
According to fans, Swift and Alwyn were spotted outside New York’s Bowery Hotel back in 2016 at the start of their romance. In addition, Joe is the great-grandson of composer and musician William Alwyn – which fans believe is how the name William Bowery came about. Taylor has yet to comment on the speculation.
As well as dropping the album at midnight, Taylor also released the music video for her first single from the new record – titled “Cardigan”.
The video was written and directed by the singer herself, who also did her own hair and make-up on a socially distanced set overseen by a medical inspector as she ensured her crew stayed safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

  • Taylor Swift Unveils Enchanting Music Video for 'Cardigan' Off Surprise New Album

    [embedded content]

Premiered on Friday, July 24, the clip written and directed by the ‘Lover’ songstress herself finds her getting swept into in a fantastical world of luscious trees before being stranded at the sea.
    Jul 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift’s new album “Folklore” is here for fans’ listening pleasure along with a brand new music video. Released on Friday, July 24 at the stroke of midnight, the video is accompanying visuals to track No. 2 “Cardigan”.
The clip opens with the country-turned-pop superstar playing a piano in a rustic cabin before she climbs into the piano and emerges in a fantastical world of waterfalls and luscious green trees. After playing a piano for a while there, she again is transported into a different setting.
This time she finds herself being stranded in the middle of an ocean, hanging onto a floating piano for dear life. Finding a way out of this situation with the magical teleportation device, she once again climbs into the piano before returning to the rustic cabin where it all begins.
Swift wrote and directed the music video, with the help of “badass video team – cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, producer Jil Hardin, executive producer Rebecca Skinner, AD Joe ‘Oz’ Osbourne, editor Chancler Haynes, special effects wizards David Lebensfeld & Grant Miller, and set designer Ethan Tobman,” she wrote on Instagram to express her gratitude.
Making sure that their health was a top priority during the shooting, she informed her fans, “The entire shoot was overseen by a medical inspector, everyone wore masks, stayed away from each other, and I even did my own hair, makeup, and styling.”

Swift announced the surprise new album “Folklore” on Thursday morning. “[It’s] an entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into,” she teased. “Before this year I probably would’ve overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed.”
Shortly before the album dropped, the 30-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter answered questions from fans, during which she explained the meaning of “Cardigan”. “The song is about lost romance and why young love is often fixed to permanently within our memories. Why it leaves such an indelible mark,” she explained.
Swift has also released official lyric videos for tracks off the new album, including “Invisible String”, “August”, “The Last Great American Dynasty” and more on her YouTube VEVO channel.

The ‘Blank Space’ hitmaker announces ‘Folklore’, a collection of brand new songs she recorded during lockdown as a follow-up to her last year studio album ‘Lover’.
    Jul 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift is to release a “surprise” album of brand new music she created during lockdown on Friday (24Jul20).
The pop superstar, who dropped her last record “Lover” last year, announced the shock release of a new collection, “Folklore”, on Thursday with a message to fans on Twitter.
“Surprise (hugging face emoji),” she wrote alongside a picture of its forest scene cover art, a statement, and link to her store. “Tonight at midnight I’ll be releasing my 8th studio album, folklore; an entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into.”
In her statement, the singer revealed she has used the need to stay at home during the Covid-19 pandemic to work on new material and has collaborated with The National rocker Aaron Dessner, who has co-written 11 of the 16 songs, Bon Iver, William Bowery, and Jack Antonoff.
“Most of the things I had planned for this year didn’t happen, but there is something I had planned that DID happen,” she told fans in her announcement.
Describing why she is releasing new music now, the “Bad Blood” hitmaker added, “Before this year I would’ve probably overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed.”
“My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That’s the kind of uncertainty that I can get on board with.”

Taylor Swift Fans Share Conspiracy Theories About Mysterious 'Look What You Made Me Do' Cover

    Instagram

Swifties believe that the cryptic cover, which appears in the latest episode of ‘Killing Eve’ and is sung by previously unknown band Jack Leopards and The Dolphin Club, is her way to get back at Scooter Braun.
    May 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift may be quietly getting her revenge at Scooter Braun. Following the debut of a cryptic cover of her 2017 hit “Look What You Made Me Do”, her fans are speculating that there’s a conspiracy behind the song that appeared in the latest episode of “Killing Eve”.
The country-turned-pop superstar took to Twitter on Sunday, May 24 to share the cover of her song. “VERY STOKED about this cover of lwymmd on @KillingEve by Jack leopards & the dolphin club!!” so she wrote along with a 30-second opening credits of the hit TV series.
The dark, moody take on the single off “Reputation” is performed by previously unknown band Jack Leopards & The Dolphin Club, but Swifties think that there’s more behind it. Fans are convinced that Taylor’s brother Austin is providing the male vocal tracks on the song.
According to CNN, Taylor had asked “Killing Eve” creator/producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge if her brother could sing on the show’s soundtrack when the two met up at the Golden Globes earlier this year. Some speculators also claimed that Austin once used “The Dolphin Club” as his Twitter display name. Additionally, the single cover appears to be based on a photograph of Austin as a little boy wearing a dolphin club T-shirt.
Another theory pointed out that Jack Antonoff, a co-writer of the original version of “Look What You Made Me Do”, is listed in the credits as a producer, along with Nils Sjoberg. Fans may remember that Taylor used the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg when she co-wrote her then-boyfriend Calvin Harris’ song “This Is What You Came For” featuring Rihanna.
All of these theories suggest that the cover may come from Taylor herself. Fans think that she’s keeping it a secret to outsmart Scooter Braun, following their feud due to his purchase of the master recordings of her first six albums when he acquired Taylor’s former label Big Machine last year.
At the time, the 30-year-old singer/songwriter said she felt “sad and grossed out” by the news and called the situation “the worst-case scenario.” She later also accused Scooter and Big Machine of trying to block her from performing her old songs at the American Music Awards and in her Netflix documentary “Miss Americana”.

ABC will air the concert on May 17, 2020, which was filmed last September 2019 in Paris at the L’Olympia Theater. The following day, the concert will be available to stream on both Hulu and Disney+.

Taylor Swift's Fans Offered Ticket Refund After Live Nation Amended Policy Amid COVID-19 Crisis

    WENN

Announcing its Ticket Relief Plan, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino explains that if concertgoers choose the 150 percent credit option, they will donate tickets to healthcare workers fighting the coronavirus.
    Apr 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Concert promoters Live Nation have amended previously announced plans for concerts cancelled or postponed by the coronavirus pandemic, following complaints from fans.
Under the new policy, dubbed the Ticket Relief Plan, ticket holders whose concerts have been cancelled will automatically receive a refund. However, if the cancelled show was scheduled to take place at a Live Nation-owned venue, the option will be given to exchange the refund for a 150 per cent credit to be used towards a future ticket purchase.
“Fans, we hear you. We don’t want you to be waiting in limbo while shows are being rescheduled,” Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino tweeted on Friday, April 24. “Thanks to your feedback, @LiveNation has revised our refund policy. If new dates aren’t set in 60 days, you’ll be able to get a refund at that time.”

Live Nation allowed refund for cancelled shows.
Explaining further benefits of the 150 percent credit option, Rapino added: “When you choose this option, Live Nation will also donate tickets to healthcare workers to share the gift of live with those working on the front line through our Hero Nation program. We will donate 1 ticket for every ticket you originally purchased.”
For postponed gigs, tickets will automatically be transferred to the new date, although ticket holders will have a 30-day window after the new date is announced to opt for a refund.
Taylor Swift and Bon Jovi are among the artists to refund or offer a ticket exchange following their abandoned 2020 tour plans.
The change in policy comes after a class action lawsuit was filed in California against the concert giant over its refund policies, after bosses retroactively changed their refund policy to only allow refunds for cancelled events – not those that have been “indefinitely postponed” or rescheduled.

Taylor Swift Slams Former Record Label for Lying About Her Old Live Performance

    Instagram

The ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ singer scoffs at Scooter Braun and the new owners of Big Machine Records for releasing her old live performance and claiming it’s much more recent.
    Apr 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift is putting the bosses of her old record label on blast again for releasing a 12-year-old live performance and claiming it’s much more recent.
The pop star turned to Instagram on Thursday, April 23, 2020 after learning a new Big Machine album, released on Thursday night, was not recorded in 2017, as advertised.
The “Me!” singer wrote, “I want to thank my fans for making me aware that my former record label is putting out an ‘album’ of live performances of mine tonight. This recording is from a 2008 radio show performance I did when I was 18. Big Machine has listed the date as a 2017 release but they’re actually releasing it tonight at midnight.”
Taylor added, “I’m always honest with you guys about this stuff so I just wanted to tell you that this release is not approved by me. It looks to me like (new Big Machine boss) Scooter Braun and his financial backers, 23 Capital, Alex Soros and the Soros family and The Carlyle Group have seen the latest balance sheets and realized that paying $330 MILLION for my music wasn’t exactly a wise choice and they need money.”
“In my opinion… just another case of shameless greed in the time of Coronavirus. So tasteless, but very transparent.”
Swift’s battle with Big Machine and her former label boss Scott Borchetta began last year 2019 when he sold the company and with it her masters to Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s manager Scooter Braun without consulting her. She then claimed Borchetta and Braun had banned her from performing her old songs that were under contract to them. They dismissed her allegations and a planned hits medley at the American Music Awards went ahead as planned.
Swift has also made it clear she plans to re-record all the hits she had as a Big Machine artist once her contract expires with the label this year, and re-release them, thus making the original masters close to worthless.
