10 Bachelor Nation Couples With Shortest Relationships

    Pexels/Rosie Ann

While some of Bachelor Nation eventually find their soulmate after appearing on the long-running ABC dating show, some others are not so lucky as their romance crumbles down in such a short time.

    Mar 21, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
People hope to find the love of their life by joining ABC’s long-running dating show “The Bachelor”. While some of Bachelor Nation eventually did find their soulmate after appearing on the show, some others were not so lucky when it comes to that.

Despite drama and breaking others’ heart in the process, some couples ended their relationship in such a short time. A few of them only lasted for five months, while one couple even called it quits after dating for two days.

Find out Bachelor Nation couples whose relationship crumbles down in a relatively short time.

    1. Clare Crawley and Dale Moss

    ABC/Craig Sjodin

Clare Crawley and Dale Moss fell in love so fast and split just as fast. The pair made a history by getting engaged only two weeks into the filming of Clare’s “The Bachelorette” season. However, their relationship crumbled down rather quickly with the former football athlete announcing their breakup five months after he popped the question to Clare.

Taking to his Instagram account, Dale wrote, “I wanted [to] share with you all that Clare and I have decided to go our separate ways. We appreciate the love and support we’ve received from so many people, but this is the healthiest decision for both of us at this time.” He added, “We strongly believe in leading with love and always remaining true to oneself – something our families have taught and instilled in us throughout our lives. We only hope the best things for one another.”

    2. Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell

    ABC

Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell didn’t get engaged at the finale of Matt’s season of “The Bachelor”, but they declared their love for each other. Apparently, they didn’t have a chance to bring their romance to the next level due to Rachael’s scandal over her past racist behavior.

Matt shockingly announced that she broke up with Rachael during “After the Final Rose” which was filmed and aired in March 2021, three months after they filmed the finale. “We’re not [together],” Matt said on “After the Final Rose”. “It’s heartbreaking. If you don’t understand that something like that is problematic in 2018, there’s a lot of me that you won’t understand. It’s as simple as that.”

    3. Becca Kufrin and Arie Luyendyk Jr.

    ABC/Paul Hebert

Arie Luyendyk Jr. was probably the least favorite Bachelor in the franchise history. During his season 22 of the show, Arie proposed to Becca Kufrin in the finale while eliminating his runner-up Lauren Burnham.

However, less than two months later he admitted to Becca in front of camera that he had just realized that his heart was for Lauren. Arie and Lauren eventually got married in January 2019. They share a daughter together and are currently expecting their second child.

    4. Hannah Ann Sluss and Peter Weber

    ABC

Peter Weber and Hannah Ann Sluss got engaged in November 2019 after meeting in season 24 of “The Bachelor”. However, the pair’s romance didn’t last long as the pilot confessed by the end of January 2020 that he still had lingering feelings for another lady in his season, Madison Prewett.

“I never intended to give my heart to two people. I never intended that,” Peter told Hannah Ann. “And the pain that come with that. I’ve just been battling it. And I haven’t hid anything from you. I’ve told you everything. Even when I don’t deserve it, you never left me. You’ve always stood by me. You’ve always given me that love.”

    5. Hannah Brown and Jed Wyatt

    ABC

At the end of her “The Bachelorette” season, Hannah Brown was a happily engaged woman after Jed Wyatt proposed to her. However, it all came to a crashing halt once she found out that Jed left a girlfriend when he joined the show.

“It was heartbreaking,” Hannah admitted in an interview with PEOPLE. She added, “The foundation of what I believe love is is based on honesty and truth. If he loved me, wanted the best for me, why did he not give that to me? He always said he never wanted to hurt me, but he hurt me worse than anybody else did.” She was only engaged to Jed for five weeks before she decided to call it quits.

    6. Aaron Buerge and Helene Eksterowicz

    ABC/Craig Sjodin

Aaron Buerge and Helena Eksterowicz once were a happy engaged couple. The pair had such a rough relationship as they broke off their engagement not only once but twice and they were all short-length. According to Helene, she first broke off their engagement two months after Aaron popped the question to her during the filming in September 2002, noting that she caught him ogling another woman.

However, they managed to get back together and Aaron even proposed to her again when they watched the finale on TV together. The happy ending didn’t last long because Aaron had the most shocking way to end their romance five weeks after the episode aired. He took her to a Starbucks near her New Jersey home to tell her he was no longer “invested” in their relationship. “It felt like a bomb dropped. I said, ‘I feel very deceived by you. You’ve told me every single day that you love me, and now this is it?’ ” Helene recalled. Meanwhile, Aaron insisted that “it was just the best decision” for both of them.

    7. Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft

    ABC/Matt Klitscher

Jason Mesnick is another The Bachelor who appeared to not be able to figure his own feelings ahead of the finale of his season. He proposed to Melissa Rycroft in season 13 finale only to tell her one month later that he still had feelings for runner up Molly Malaney during “After the Final Rose”.

“To say that we went into that After the Final Rose in an absolutely perfect place is a lie. [But] had we completely severed ties and broken up? No!” Melissa shared of the split. “You could have at least warned a chick before he walked out here. We talked minutes before I went out on that stage, and he never said anything.”

    8. Jesse Palmer and Jessica Bowlin

    ABC/Craig Sjodin

Jesse Palmer and Jessica Bowlin didn’t manage to save their relationship. In the finale of Jesse’s “The Bachelor” season, he famously gave his intended, Jessica Bowlin, an airline ticket to New York. However, just one month after the episode aired, the couple revealed that they decided to go separate ways.
“Jessica and I shared an incredible romantic journey on the show that began with a friendship that remains strong today. We simply realized that, individually, our next steps take us in different directions,” the New York Giants backup quarterback said in a statement. As for Jessica, she said of the split, “With too much distance and too little time these were not ideal circumstances in which to start a relationship. Jesse is a great guy and has a wonderful family. Who knows what the future holds?”

    9. Bob Guiney and Estella Gardinier

    ABC

Bob Guiney presented Estella Gardinier the final rose at the finale of his “The Bachelor” season back in November 2003. However, the pair’s romance came to an end in a rather nasty way as Bob broke up with her over the phone just one month after the sweet moment.

“He’s not the person I thought he was,” Estella said. I don’t see any reason to ever have a conversation with him. The path that I’m taking is different from Bob’s. He’s a big-time star now! He’s big-time, so my life doesn’t compare to that.”

    10. Madison Prewett and Peter Weber

    ABC/John Fleenor

Peter Weber broke Hannah Ann’s heart just to be with Madison. They did get together after the whole drama but their romance came to a halt just two days after their “After the Final Rose” interview. It appeared that Peter’s mom had something to do with the split as she’s against Madison.

“Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further,” Peter announced. “Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be OK with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.”

'The Bachelor' Finale Recap: Find Out Matt James' Final Decision

    ABC

One of the remaining ladies, Rachael and Michelle, is sent home while crying after the leading man of the current season of the ABC show admits to her that he doesn’t share the same feelings with her.

    Mar 16, 2021
AceShowbiz – The finale of Matt James’ “The Bachelor” season is finally here! Airing on Monday, March 15, the episode saw Matt making a final decision between the remaining ladies, Rachael and Michelle. He first brought Michelle to meet his mom, Patty James, and brother, John James.
During the reunion, Michelle opened up about her last relationship which she described “unhealthy.” John told Michelle that Matt seemed to be “in a good place” with her, while Patty loved that Michelle was sharing her feelings about Matt. She eventually gave Michelle a stamp of approval, telling Matt that Michelle “couldn’t have been sweeter and easier to be around.”
Later, it was time for Rachael to meet Matt’s family. John noticed the strong connection between Matt and Rachael right away, while Patty loved how confident the pair in being themselves around each other. Rachael tried to convince Patty that she was ready to get engaged to Matt. The two got emotional when talking about Rachael’s potential future with Matt.
Patty thought both Rachael and Michelle were “amazing.” However, she wanted her son to be careful when it comes to saying the word “love.” That made Matt start to doubt whether or not he was ready for an engagement.
Later, Matt and Michelle went to have their final date. While Michelle was certain that she wanted a future with Matt, the latter was still unsure. He was unable to shake off his doubts and he decided to end his relationship during the night portion of the date.

“I’m sitting there last night thinking about these next steps and I’m just like…having doubts. I shouldn’t be having doubts about that. We’re a day or two away,” he told Michelle. “This is the first time I’ve felt anything outside of wanting to be with you forever and having any doubt in my mind at this point, for me, is just scary. I’ve been pushing through that feeling today and trying to get there because of how I feel about you and what I know it could look like with you. I think the easy thing for me to do is tell you what you want to hear.”
Michelle started crying before she asked, “I just want clarity on what this actually is or how you’re actually feeling. Am I supposed to fight for you? Tell me where you’re at, actually.” To that, Matt responded, “I don’t think I can get there with you.”
Rachael was supposed to have a final date with Matt, but he canceled at the last minute because he “needs some time.” Matt later was seen meeting Neil Lane to check out engagement rings. He went with a pear-shaped engagement ring. The next day, Matt sent an apology note to Rachael. He also invited Rachael to the final rose ceremony.
“Everything I came here looking for, I found in you,” Matt told Rachael in the final rose ceremony. “It’s scary to think about because I want to be everything to you. I want to be everything for you that my dad wasn’t to my mom. The easy thing for me to do would be to brush those feelings and emotions off and make you happy by proposing to you today. I couldn’t live with myself if I put you through what my mom went through. I’ve seen what rushing into a proposal or marriage can do in my family and it’s ugly. It’s not something I want for us. That’s why I can’t propose to you today.”
However, Matt quickly clarified, “That doesn’t mean I want to lose you. When I think about the life I want to live, I think about living that life with you. I want to leave here with you. The truth is that I love you. I want to make sure my love is enough for you.” Rachael was happy enough with that so she accepted his final rose.

'Bachelor' Recap: Matt James Confronts His Dad Ahead of Fantasy Suites

    ABC

The leading man of season 25 of the ABC dating show feels that he needs to talk with his father, who isn’t a constant presence in his life, before he will finally feel ready to start a family of his own.

    Mar 9, 2021
AceShowbiz – “The Bachelor” returned with a new episode on Monday, March 8. In the new outing, Matt James enjoyed one-on-one romantic dates with three remaining ladies in his season during the Fantasy Suites. The first date was between Matt and Michelle, who was confident with her relationship with him.
Prior to that, Matt met his father. He felt that he needed to talk with his father, who wasn’t a constant presence in his life, before he was ready to start a family of his own. Matt explained his emotional turmoil to his father and said that he forgave his dad and didn’t hold grudges against him. Meanwhile, his father promised to try to be more present for Matt, though he noted that this conversation wouldn’t magically fix their relationship.
Later during his date with Michelle, Matt and Michelle had a spa day. During the relaxing time, Michelle revealed that she wanted to be like her parents, who have been married for over thirty years. Matt felt the same as he didn’t want him to be like his parents who split when he was young. As Matt showed his vulnerable side to Michelle, she told him that she loved him. While Matt didn’t say it back, he did kiss her. The two then headed to the bedroom.

The next morning, they woke up in each other’s arms. They kissed a lot until Michelle had to go back to the house. Rachael, meanwhile, was torn to find out that Matt and Michelle spent the night together. Bri was also the same but she tried her best not to show or tell Matt about her feelings.
For Bri and Matt’s one-on-one date, they went hiking. Bri panicked when Matt asked for her help in setting up a camping tent, thinking that they would sleep outside for their Fanstasy Suite. Matt noticed and decided to play with her for a while before he finally told her that this wasn’t the place they would spend their Fantasy Suite night.
Later during the night, Bri told Matt that she loved him. Matt didn’t say it back but he said that he was ready for an engagement, adding that he saw how she fits in her life after Hometowns. Bri then recounted her date with Matt with the other ladies and it made Rachael so insecure.
She couldn’t shake off her insecurity during her date with Matt as they created ceramics. Rachael didn’t speak to him and didn’t event look at him the whole time. Rachael finally decided that she needed to speak with him in private about this. She asked Matt about his feelings for her and he told her that he wanted a future with her, just like what he told the other women. Rachael was satisfied enough with his answer and they kissed.
It was later time for the Rose Ceremony. Matt gave the first rose to Michelle, putting Bri and Rachael in jeopardy. Eventually, he presented the last rose to Rachael and sent Bri home. Matt apologized to Bri, explaining that he just didn’t feel for her as deeply as she did for him.

Chris Harrison Determined to Return to 'The Bachelor' After Defending Contestant's Racist Past

    WENN

The reality TV show host plans and wants to be back on the popular dating show as a host after apologizing for defending Rachael Kirkconnell over her racist past.

    Mar 5, 2021
AceShowbiz – Chris Harrison, the popular host of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette”, hopes to return to the U.S. dating shows after stepping down amid a race row.
Harrison was hammered by critics after he defended “The Bachelor” contestant Rachael Kirkconnell against claims suggesting that some of her social media posts had been racist.
Kirkconnell, who is one of the finalists on the current season of the show, was slammed for posting photos of herself appearing in front of a Confederate flag – considered a link to slavery by many – and at an antebellum-themed party, which appeared to honour an age when indentured servitude for African-Americans was widespread in the Deep South.
Harrison took aim at Rachael’s critics during an interview with former “The Bachelorette” star Rachel Lindsay, claiming the “woke police” were out to get her.
Days after the interview aired, Chris apologised and announced he was temporarily stepping down as the host of the dating shows but, in a new interview with “Good Morning America”, he made it clear he plans to return.

“I plan to be back and I want to be back,” he said. “And I think this franchise can be an important beacon of change. I know that change is felt, not just by me, but by many others. And we are excited and willing to do the work to show that progress.”
He also issued a new apology, stating, “I am saddened and shocked at how insensitive I was in that interview with Rachel Lindsay. I can’t believe I didn’t speak against antebellum parties, what they stand for. I didn’t say it then and I want to say it now: those parties are not OK, past, present, future.”
“I didn’t speak from my heart. And that is to say that I stand against all forms of racism, and I am deeply sorry to Rachel Lindsay and to the black community… I am an imperfect man. I made a mistake and I own that. I believe that mistake doesn’t reflect who I am or what I stand for. I am committed to the progress not just for myself but also for the franchise.”
Harrison also turned on his fans, who have criticised Lindsay, blaming her for the host’s decision to step down.
“To anyone who is throwing hate towards Rachel Lindsay, please stop,” he added. “It’s unacceptable.”

Emmanuel Acho to Take Over Chris Harrison's Hosting Duty in 'The Bachelor: After the Final Rose'

    Instagram

‘It’s both an honor and privilege to be hosting ‘After the Final Rose’,’ the best-selling author and the ‘Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man’ host says of the gig.

    Mar 2, 2021
AceShowbiz – After Chris Harrison announced that he’d take a hiatus from “The Bachelor” following widespread criticism over his remarks about Rachael Kirkconnell’s past racist behavior, ABC has to find a new host to replace him in “The Bachelor: After the Final Rose”. It has now revealed that Emmanuel Acho will fill in the void left by Chris’ temporary leave.
The best-selling author will sit down with “The Bachelor” lead Matt James and the three finalists in his season, Bri, Michelle and Rachael. The “Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man” host is set to discuss the results of the finale and the current events surrounding the franchise.
“It’s both an honor and privilege to be hosting ‘After the Final Rose’,” said Emmanuel in a statement. “This is an incredibly pivotal episode on one of the most storied shows in television history.”

Chris decided to step aside from the franchise after being under fire for defending Rachael over her racism scandal. “I have spent the last few days listening to the pain my words have caused, and I am deeply remorseful. My ignorance did damage to my friends, colleagues and strangers alike. I have no one to blame but myself for what I said and the way I spoke,” Chris said last month.
“To the Black community, to the BIPOC community: I am so sorry. My words were harmful. I am listening, and I truly apologize for my ignorance and any pain it caused you,” the TV host further pleaded. “I want to give my heartfelt thanks to the people from these communities who I’ve had enlightening conversations with over the past few days, and I am so grateful to those who have reached out to help me on my path to anti-racism.”
“The historic season of The Bachelor should not be marred or overshadowed by my mistakes or diminished by my actions,” he continued. “To that end, I have consulted with Warner Bros. and ABC and will be stepping aside for a period of time and will not join for the After the Final Rose special.”

'Bachelor' Women Tell-All: Brittany and Anna Reconcile Following Escort Girl Rumors

    ABC

Before getting sent home in Matt James’ season, Anna Redman received backlash online after she started rumors that Brittany Galvin worked as an escort in Chicago.

    Mar 2, 2021
AceShowbiz – “The Bachelor” aired the Women Tell-All special on Monday, March 1. The special episode featured all ladies that have been eliminated by Matt James gathering, including Brittany Galvin and Anna Redman who were beefing over escort girl rumors.
Before getting sent home, Anna received backlash online after she started rumors that Brittany worked as an escort in Chicago. Brittany denied the allegations but it didn’t stop the rumors from further circulating.
“When I first got back, I didn’t even want to be around my family,” she shared in the episode. “It was really hard to even text my friends back the first couple of weeks. It’s embarrassing — when people Google my name now, it’s about me being accused of being an escort.”
She continued, “I didn’t get signed up to be bullied or have my name slandered. This is forever going to have an association to my name, which is kind of unfair. It’s really f***ed that I have to constantly defend my name from now on.”

      See also…

Brittany also revealed that she was disappointed that she hadn’t heard from Anna since the show aired, though Anna did apologize to her before that. “Nothing I can say can justify what I did,” Anna responded. “There’s no reason to ever take down another woman without thinking of the consequences, especially in that moment. It was awful and after watching the aftermath, I am a hundred times more sorry.”
“I know I’m getting a glimmer of it and I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be you. It sucks that I did that to someone else. Everything in the situation I did was wrong and I’m sorry,” she added. Anna admitted that “it all stemmed from my own insecurities. I was insecure about myself and my time with Matt and even being next to these amazing women in the house. There wasn’t a motive. I know that sounds stupid.”
Anna concluded, “I know what I said can’t be unsaid and the damage can’t be undone but I’d love to help repair some of that damage. I want you to know I’m 100 percent sincere when I say I am so, so sorry for that.”
Brittany decided to accept her apology, noting that she didn’t want “people to destroy your life.” She added, “That’s not my intention at all. I do accept your apology, but I want people to take away from this that words can actually affect you. I don’t want people to feel bad for me and I don’t want Anna to get hated on. People make mistakes. And I want to address people in the sex work industry – no one deserves more or less based on the industry they’re in.”

'Bachelor' Recap: Matt James Cries as One Woman Exits Following Hometown Week

    ABC

In a new episode of the long-running ABC dating series, the Bachelor meets the families of the remaining ladies, Michelle, Bri, Rachael and Serena, as they are flown in to the resort.

    Feb 23, 2021
AceShowbiz – “The Bachelor” returned with a brand new episode on Monday, February 22. The new outing featured Hometown Week, which was different from the ones in the previous seasons because the ladies’ families were flown in as the cast couldn’t leave the resort due to COVID-19.
Matt first met Michelle’s families including her mom and dad. The pair enjoyed a bike ride before they entered a room with some of Michelle’s students appearing on a video screen virtually. The pair chatted with them for a while as they grilled Matt with various questions.
It was later time to meet Michelle’s parents. Her father, Ephraim, thought that Michelle looked genuinely happy. During a chat, she also revealed to him that Matt had something she had been looking for. When her dad asked if she would say yes should Matt propose to her, Michelle nodded.
Ephraim then sat down with Matt, asking Matt if he was in love with his daughter. Matt told him that he was falling for her. As for Michelle, she had a talk with her mother. The foursome then headed outside to play basketball. Later, Michelle opened up to Matt. She told Matt that while she was falling in love with Matt, she was also scared.
The next date was between Matt and Rachael. As she reminded Matt that communication, honesty and trust were important to her, she drove him away after putting on a blindfold on him. It appeared that she drove him to an airstrip before jumping out of a plane. Matt was the first one to land and was worried when he saw Rachael having a hard fall. Fortunately, she was not heavily injured.
The two then met Rachael’s family. Rachael told her mom that she was falling in love with Matt, adding that she could see herself having a future with him. She recounted how Matt comforted her after she landed badly earlier that day and that was what she wanted from a husband. She told her mom that she would say yes if Matt proposed to her.

      See also…

Meanwhile, Matt chatted with Rachael’s father Darrell, who thought that an engagement and a marriage would be too quick and unrealistic. Later, Matt told Rachael that he didn’t ask her father for his blessing because he wasn’t ready yet, adding that he would call him when he was. That surprised Rachael.
Later, Matt and Bri had a one-on-one date. They had a bumpy ride in a 4×4 before sitting down for a picnic. Bri told him that she didn’t have a conventional family but she wished it was enough for him. The two then met Bri’s mother, her baby sister and her best friend. Matt had a talk with Bri’s mom as he told her that he and Bri had a connection that was on different level compared to his with the other women.
Bri’s mother than talked with Bri. Bri told her mom that she was falling for Matt and that she had a special connection with Matt. Her mom, meanwhile, said that she wanted to protect her but she knew that Bri had to make a commitment to herself. Later, Matt and Bri had a sit-down during which Bri expressed her feelings for him.
The final date was between Matt and Serena. She brought a map of Canada with her and showed Matt where Markham was. The pair then met her family. Matt and Serena’s mother Rasna later had a talk. He told Rasna that he liked that Serena was smart and beautiful, while Serena’s sister Talia didn’t think Serena was smitten with Matt. Serena admitted that she was worried if she would regret getting engaged.
She then opened up to her mom about her doubts. Her mom thought she was worried because her last relationship messed with her. Serena eventually realized that her past relationship wasn’t the sole reason of her doubts. She then told Matt that she didn’t think he was her person, much to Matt’s surprise. He was devastated and crying, though he wanted the best for her. He was afraid if the other three women would change her mind just like Serena.
It was finally time for the Rose Ceremony. He gave the roses to the remaining ladies, Michelle, Rachael and Bri, and they all accepted the rose. The next episode will feature Fantasy Suites!

Tayshia Adams Praises Chris Harrison for Taking Break From 'Bachelor' After Racism Controversy

    Instagram

While Tayshia admits that the TV host’s words ‘affected a lot of people, you know, myself included,’ she thinks the fact that he takes ownership of his mistake ‘speaks volumes on his behalf.’

    Feb 19, 2021
AceShowbiz – Tayshia Adams has weighed in on Chris Harrison’s decision to step aside from “The Bachelor” franchise “for a period of time” following his controversial comments about contestant Rachael Kirkconnell’s past racist behavior. In a new interview on Thursday, February 18, Tayshia claimed that the decision was “a really good thing.”
“I think after reading his apology there’s a few things that stuck out to me, it hit my heart a little bit more to know he actually meant what he was saying,” she said during her appearance on “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation”. “He said, ‘By excusing historical racism I defended it,’ which is the absolute truth, and the fact that he called that out and owned up to that and he acknowledges that, means a lot to me.”
She went on saying, “Also the fact that he said, ‘This is not just a moment but a commitment to much greater understanding that I will actively make each day,’ also meant a lot to me, because it isn’t just a moment, just like how Blacks Lives Matter isn’t just a trending topic on Instagram — it’s a thing that’s taking place every single day that we should actively try to partake in and better.”

Tayshia added that Chris’ words “affected a lot of people, you know, myself included.” She continued, “I think that by him taking ownership, and just not just saying issue an apology and then just going back to work the next day like nothing happened speaks volumes on his behalf.”
Chris announced that he decided to take a break from the franchise on February 13 in addition to apologizing to the black community, to the BIPOC community. “My words were harmful. I am listening, and I truly apologize for my ignorance and any pain it caused you,” the TV host pleaded. “I want to give my heartfelt thanks to the people from these communities who I’ve had enlightening conversations with over the past few days, and I am so grateful to those who have reached out to help me on my path to anti-racism.”
“The historic season of The Bachelor should not be marred or overshadowed by my mistakes or diminished by my actions,” he elaborated. “To that end, I have consulted with Warner Bros. and ABC and will be stepping aside for a period of time and will not join for the After the Final Rose special.”
Chris landed in hot water after defending Rachael for allegedly attending a 2018 fraternity party that a Reddit user described as an “antebellum plantation themed ball” while discussing the matter with former “The Bachelorette” star Rachel Lindsay.
