Matt Damon Reportedly Joins 'Thor: Love and Thunder' as He Brings Family to Australia

    Marvel Studios

Greeting his fans after arriving in Sydney, the actor, who made a cameo in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, is reportedly quarantining for two weeks before filming for the Marvel movie.

    Jan 18, 2021
AceShowbiz – Matt Damon is reported to be added to the cast of “Thor: Love and Thunder”. News of the actor’s involvement in the movie first started making its round on the Internet after he and his family were spotted arriving in Australia on Saturday, January 16.
“I’m so excited that my family and I will be able to call Australia home for the next few months,” Damon said in a statement to local press, as quoted by CNET. Confirming that he’s Down Under for a movie project, he added in the statement, “Australian film crews are world-renowned for their professionalism and are a joy to work with so the 14 days of quarantine will be well worth it.”
Damon didn’t mention which movie he will be filming in Australia, but the fourth “Thor” movie is currently in production in the country with Taika Waititi serving as the helmer. “Guardians of the Galaxy” stars Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista as well as “Thor: Ragnarok” actress Tessa Thompson, who are also reprising their respective roles in the upcoming movie, are said to be currently quarantining as well before joining the cast on the set.

Damon’s role in “Thor: Love and Thunder” is still unknown, though he previously briefly appeared in “Thor: Ragnarok”. He made a surprise cameo as an Asgardian actor playing Thor’s brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in a stage play.
The upcoming installment of the “Thor” film series will see Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster battling breast cancer and turning into the female version of Thor. Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as the titular God of Thunder, while Christian Bale is confirmed to take on the villainous role of Gorr the God Butcher.
Jaimie Alexander is set to make a return as Lady Sif after missing out on “Thor: Ragnarok” and Idris Elba, whose character Heimdall appeared to be killed off by Thanos in the opening sequence of “Avengers: Infinity War”, was recently rumored to return as well after he was seen hanging out with Waititi in New Zealand.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” is slated for a May 6, 2022 release in the United States.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' Star Hints at Return for 'Thor: Love and Thunder'

    Marvel Studios

Pom Klementieff, who joined ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ as Mantis, reveals on Instagram that she has arrived in Sydney, Australia, where the fourth ‘Thor’ movie is currently in production.

    Dec 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – A “Thor” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” crossover has been hinted in the ending of “Avengers: Endgame”. While many have speculated that it will be part of the storyline in the third “GOTG” movie, it looks like that the crossover will be coming sooner than later.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” star Pom Klementieff has hinted at her character’s return for “Thor: Love and Thunder”. The actress, who joined the space superhero film franchise in the 2017 sequel as Mantis, recently revealed on Instagram that she has arrived Down Under.
On Thursday, December 17, she shared a cryptic post that included a cropped out picture of her face along with a koala toy that holds the Australian flag. She tagged Sydney as her location, while only captioning it with several emojis.

Though Klementieff’s post didn’t say much about her possible involvement in the fourth Thor movie, it’s Taika Waititi’s comment underneath the photo that further convinced fans about the actress’ upcoming appearance in the film. “hurry up,” the director told the actress.

Taika Waititi commented on Pom Klementieff’s Instagram post.
Prior to this, Vin Diesel, who voices Groot in the MCU films, said in March of this year that Guardians of the Galaxy would be incorporated in “Thor: Love and Thunder”. Later in November, Variety reported that Chris Pratt would reprise his role as Star-Lord a.k.a. Peter Quill in the Chris Hemsworth-starring movie.
Filming for “Thor: Love and Thunder” is currently underway in Australia, with Waikiki returning at the helm. Jaimie Alexander is set to make a return as Lady Sif after missing out on “Thor: Ragnarok”, while Christian Bale is confirmed to take on the villainous role of Gorr the God Butcher.
Plot details are still kept under wraps, but it has been reported that the movie will see Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster battling breast cancer and turning into the female version of Thor. The movie is slated for a May 6, 2022 release in the United States.

'Thor: Love and Thunder' Director Sparks Speculation of a Dead Character's Return

    Marvel Studios

Taika Waititi has got fans hopeful that he will bring back Idris Elba’s fan-favorite character Heimdall in the upcoming fourth movie after they’re hanging out together in New Zealand.

    Dec 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taika Waititi may have dropped a hint about a possible resurrection in “Thor: Love and Thunder”. The director’s new photos have sparked a speculation that the upcoming movie would feature a fan-favorite character, who has been presumed dead.
On Sunday, November 29, the Kiwi filmmaker shared on his Instagram account pictures of him hanging out with New Zealand’s legendary All-Blacks rugby team. What’s interesting was that he was seen being joined by Idris Elba during the fun outing.
“Me and @idriselba visited the @allblacks last week and I think we can all agree that’s what inspired last night’s win,” Waititi captioned the snaps. “Caught up with the uso @ardiesavea while Drisco tried to steal the Bleddy.”

While the post and images have nothing to do with “Love and Thunder”, many can’t help talking about why Elba was in New Zealand. In this current situation of an ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, one likely won’t travel hundreds of miles away just to catch a rugby game.
Thus, it’s possible that the actor, who has played Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, may have flown to the country to join the production of the fourth Thor movie. His character, however, is believed to have died after being killed off by Thanos in the opening sequence of “Avengers: Infinity War”, so it remains to be seen if and how Waititi will bring him back to life in “Love and Thunder”.
Elba himself didn’t rule out his character’s return, previously suggesting that Heimdall possesses god’s gift of immortality. “Listen, Heimdall is essentially part of the god family. So you know, he essentially could be alive. I’m just saying! I’m just putting it out there,” he claimed, before explaining, “The Heimdall character goes way back into, you know, the Thor mythology. And I’m sure there will be an interesting way to bring that alive. Of course I would [return]. Yes.”
While Elba’s return has not been confirmed, Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson have been set to reprise their respective roles in “Thor: Love and Thunder”.

    Nov 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Pratt will reprise his Star-Lord character for the latest “Thor” movie, according to Variety reports.

The film is set for release in February, 2022.
The plot is still kept under wraps, but former Batman star Christian Bale is added to the cast ensemble as the main baddie. The movie is expected to be based on the graphic novel “The Mighty Thor”, which sees Jane Foster battling breast cancer and turning into the female version of Thor.
Portman confirmed it, “I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is. I’m trying to think – it’s based on the graphic novel of The Mighty Thor. She’s going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side.”
Meanwhile, Hemsworth previously said, “The last three films, I think we certainly pushed the envelope. We’ve had a few different versions of the character. Now people expect dramatic change. We’ve got our work cut out for us.” He added, “We’ve got a fantastic slew of actor’s in there, and cast and crew.”

    Oct 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Thor: Love and Thunder” isn’t going to film until next year, but Chris Hemsworth has given a look at behind the scenes of the pre-production. Taking to his Instagram account on Monday, October 19, the Australian actor shared a picture of the movie director, Taika Waititi, taking a nap during the first script meeting.
In the image, the “Thor: Ragnarok” helmer wrapped himself in a blanket while lying on the grass. Covering his face with a blue hat, he seemed to be in deep sleep while another crew member in the background was also falling asleep on the green field. A third person, a female crew member, was seen relaxing on a colorful blanket but stayed awake.
Hemsworth accompanied the photo with an equally hilarious caption that poked fun at his riveting ideas for the upcoming “Thor” film. “Terrific first script meeting for ‘Thor Love and Thunder’ with our ever fearless leader Taika Waititi,” he quipped. “My notes were so detailed and intense that the only way for Taika to fully absorb them was to roll himself into a tight cocoon and bake in the endless possibilities of where the film will take us. The bloke in the background was equally riveted by my storytelling prowess.”

In other news, Hemsworth has teased “dramatic changes” in the next installment of the God of Thunder film franchise. “I’m supposed to be shooting ‘Thor’ right now, but obviously it got pushed back,” he said in a conversation with Kriti Kharbanda for Swisse Vitamins & Supplements, a company he becomes an ambassador for. “I’ll be starting that in January. So, we’ve got a fantastic slew of actor’s in there, and cast and crew.”
“Thor: Love and Thunder” will be based on the graphic novel “The Mighty Thor”, which sees Jane Foster battling breast cancer and turning into the female version of Thor. • Chris Hemsworth Denies Rumors About His Retirement After 'Thor: Love and Thunder'

    Marvel Studios

The God of Thunder depicter assures fans that he will not leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon, saying that he’s excited to star in the upcoming Taika Waititi-directed movie.
    Sep 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Hemsworth is not ready to leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet. Responding to the swirling rumors that he has planned retirement after completing “Thor: Love and Thunder”, the actor best known for his portrayal of the God of Thunder set the record straight on his future with the blockbuster film franchise.
The 37-year-old actor opened up about the matter in an interview with Poland’s Elle Man magazine, which was published on Friday, September 11. Asked about the truth behind the rumors of him leaving, he stated, “I am not going into any retirement period. Thor is way too young for that. He’s only 1,500 years old! It is definitely not a film that I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.”
During the chat, the husband of Elsa Pataky also confessed that he is looking forward to the filming of the fourth “Thor” film after reading the script. “After reading the script, I can say that I am very excited,” he stated. “For sure there will be a lot of love and a lot of lightning in this production. I’m glad that after all that happened in ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ I’m still part of the Marvel Universe and we can continue the story of Thor.”
The father of three also claimed that the screenplay of the fourth film is better than the previous sequel, “Thor: Ragnarok”. He teased, “Of course, I can’t tell you anything about the plot, but to satisfy your curiosity, I’ll say that I had a lot more fun reading the script than on ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, and that proves something, because this movie was brilliant.”
Directed by Taika Waititi, “Thor: Love and Thunder” is eyeing a February 2022 release. This upcoming project will see the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, and has Tessa Thompson and Christian Bale in the cast ensemble. There is no official word on when the filming will start. Many, however, believed that pre-production has been kicked off after Natalie was spotted taking a trip to Australia.
