Emmerdale fans baffled as youngster Lucas Taylor recast with 'personality transplant'

Emmerdale fans were left fuming after ITV producers recast fan favourite Lucas Taylor without warning their loyal supporters online.

Viewers up and down the country were left disappointed during Monday’s instalment of the popular soap as they watched Lucas’ estranged dad Alex return to the village.

But many had noticed that the sweet little tot looked slightly different during the episode as fans saw budding actor Noah Ryan Aspinall take on the role of Lucas.

During the whirlwind episode, former drug addict Alex made his grand entrance back in the Dales as he attempted to reconnect with his son after years apart due to his addiction to heroine.

Before Monday’s episode, Lucas was previously played by Dexter Ansell who played the role for a number of years.

Although ITV producers haven’t revealed a reason behind the sudden role change, it’s not uncommon for child actors to be recast on popular soaps.

But that wasn’t the only thing eagle-eyed fans spotted in the episode after previously silent Lucas suddenly found his voice again.

And viewers soon took to Twitter to share their frustrations online.

One viewer penned: “Tell me I’m right in thinking they’ve changed actor for Lucas on #Emmerdale that’s def not the same kid? Least this one actually acts and speaks more!”

Another added: “Never mind who you are, who the hell is that Lucas #Emmerdale,” as a third chimed in with: “Lucas has had a face, body and personality transplant.”

Elsewhere, one user wrote: “WAIT they’ve recast lucas???” meanwhile another noted: “A Lucas recast. He’s a foot taller and speaks.”

Although, it doesn’t appear to be the happy reunion that Alex hoped for after it all kicked off between Dawn Taylor and her on-again off-again partner Billy Fletcher.

But it wasn’t just Alex who was upset with the way things worked out as a scheming Meena Jutla watched on from afar which left her green with envy.

And as her jealousy kicked in, Meena took it upon herself to do some meddling of her own as she accused Dawn of neglecting her son.

The killer nurse urged Alex to take the little one away from his mum in an attempt to drive Billy and Dawn apart.
