Demi Lovato and Sam Fischer Ponder on a Subway in 'What Other People Say' Music Video

    [embedded content]

The ‘Commander in Chief’ songstress and her Australian singer collaborator get reflective on their struggles to triumph over societal pressures while taking a train ride in the visuals.

    Feb 17, 2021
AceShowbiz – Demi Lovato and Sam Fischer’s collaborative song “What Other People Say” has received a visual treatment. Premiered over a week after the song’s release, the music video sees the two singers taking an emotional train ride.
The clip begins with the “Camp Rock” star pondering on her past and where life has brought her to now as she sits by herself on a moving subway. “I used to not take chances with God’s name/ But it’s been so long since I last prayed/ And now I’m all f**ked up and my heart’s changed/ ‘Cause I care more about what other people say,” she sings in the chorus, while having left her seat and walking through the subway.
Sam joins in to deliver the second verse, also getting reflective on their struggles to triumph over societal pressures. “I wish I could shelter the boy I knew/ From the constant hell I’d put him through,” he sings as if talking to his younger self. ” ‘Cause I’m all grown up and I’m black and blue/ I could use some tape, I could use some glue.”

The two then harmonize in the second chorus, as they are briefly seen singing their hearts out on top of the train. The scene intersperses with footage of other passengers sharing an embrace and kissing, before their train ride comes to an end and both Demi and Sam leave at the same time.
Co-written by Sam, Rykeyz, Geoff Warburton and Demi, “What Other People Say” which was released on February 4 is a pop-beat power ballad that Sam has described as a “confession,” the anxieties of losing one’s individuality for the sake of being well-liked.
The Australian singer/songwriter said he always knew it would be a duet as a statement released of the song described it, “Written about a feeling of being alone and not wanting to let people down, the pairing takes two different lives and perspectives and unites them in one message of human experience, emotion and togetherness, so they are alone with one another in the song.”
“this song is so special to both me and Demi and i’m so SO happy it’s all yours now,” Sam gushed when debuting the song earlier this month. The former Disney Channel darling also felt the same attachment to the song, writing on Instagram prior to the song’s release, “These lyrics are so special to my heart. I can’t wait to share this one with you.”

Sam Fischer Turned to Demi Lovato After Original 'What Other People Say' Collaborator Bailed on Him

    Instagram

The new inspiring song ‘What Other People Say’ recently released by the ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ hitmaker and her Australian collaborator was originally meant for another artist.

    Feb 8, 2021
AceShowbiz – Singer/songwriter Sam Fischer’s new duet with Demi Lovato was meant for another artist – but she didn’t show up.
The 29 year old admits “What Other People Say” started out as a track he was planning to record with someone else.
“The writing session was actually supposed to be for another artist, but that artist didn’t turn up,” he tells The Sun. “Demi heard it and immediately connected with the lyrics.”
“I felt like this was something that she really wanted to say and share from her own personal perspective, but she hadn’t found the words to do that yet. So it’s kind of nuts. Demi has one of the best voices in the world. My personal opinion is that she’s never sounded better than on this song. Her voice is other-worldly.”

“She’s been through so much. And to have the ability to be able to almost relive what you’ve gone through to put into a song and share that with people and be able to use your experiences to help others is such a beautiful gift that she possesses.”

Meanwhile, Sam recently hailed Demi, who suffered a sobriety relapse and an accidental overdose in 2018 as the “bravest” person he knows, adding, “It’s a real gift for her to be able to share everything she’s been through, because I imagine every time she thinks about it and every time she talks about it, it hurts.”
“But she is giving millions of people around the world a chance to not feel alone in their struggle. Demi’s so brave – one of the bravest people I know – and she’s so talented. Demi Lovato is one of the greatest vocalists in the world so to be able to sing with her is such a dream come true for me.”

  • Demi Lovato Sarcastically Responds to Rudy Giuliani's Explanation of Compromising 'Borat 2' Scene

    WENN/Michael Wright

Josh Gad says the former New York City mayor is ‘over in a very big way’ after he’s caught with his hands down his pants while in a hotel room with an actress playing Sacha Baron Cohen’s daughter in the film.

    Oct 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Demi Lovato isn’t buying Rudy Giuliani’s explanation of his inappropriate scene in “Borat 2”. The personal lawyer to President Donald Trump was caught in a compromising position in a scene filmed with actress Maria Bakalova, 24, who plays star Sacha Baron Cohen’s onscreen 15-year-old daughter Tutar.
In the scene in question, Giuliani went into a hotel room with Bakalova, whom he believed just interviewed him for a conservative news program, to have a drink. The camera then captured the former New York City mayor helping the actress remove a clip microphone from the reporter’s dress, and she, in turn, helped Giulani remove his clip microphone as he gave her a pat on the back.
When Bakalova turned away, Giulani lied down on the bed and untucked his shirt. He then reached down into her pants and moved it around for several seconds.
After he’s accused of acting inappropriate during the filming of the scene, Giulani defended himself, saying that “the Borat video is a complete fabrication.” He explained, “I was tucking in my shirt after taking off the recording equipment. At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate. If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar.”
But the whole sequence of the incident has got Lovato suspicious and she mocked the 76-year-old politician for his explanation. “So you normally drink with reporters, follow them to the bedroom and then lie on the bed and let her take off your mic for you? I guess I’ve been doin my interviews all wrong…,” she sarcastically tweeted.

Demi Lovato reacted to Rudy Giuliani’s explanation.
Lovato isn’t the only celebrity who has blasted Giulani for his scene in the “Borat” sequel. Josh Gad wrote on his own Twitter account, “Well, looks like the cat’s out of the pants. Having seen #Borat2 I can now safely tell you #RudyGiuliani is over in a very big way. It’s worse than you think and more uncomfortable than anything I’ve seen in a recent film, documentary or otherwise.”

Judd Apatow commented on Josh Gad’s tweet.
Judd Apatow commented on Gad’s tweet, “I saw it. I wish I could unsee it. But Borat 2 is hilarious.” Meghan McCain dubbed it “DISGUSTING,” adding, “I don’t want to watch anything that’s going to make me vomit…”

Meghan McCain also reacted to Giulani’s ‘Borat 2’ scene.
In a series of Twitter posts, Giulani also suggested that his depiction in the film was orchestrated by Joe Biden’s team. “This is an effort to blunt my relentless exposure of the criminality and depravity of Joe Biden and his entire family,” so he claimed.
“Deadline Hollywood reports CAA had a distribution screening in September where there was no mention of the scene holding any importance,” he continued. “We are preparing much bigger dumps off of the hard drive from hell, of which Joe Biden will be unable to defend or hide from. I have the receipts.”

Giuliani defended himself after caught in compromising position in the ‘Borat’ sequel.
Back in July, Giulani called the cops when he realized that the interview was a prank set up by Cohen for his film. “This guy comes running in, wearing a crazy, what I would say was a pink transgender outfit,” he told The New York Post that same month. “This person comes in yelling and screaming, and I thought this must be a scam or a shake-down, so I reported it to the police. He then ran away. I only later realized it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen. I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me.”
“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” will premiere October 23 on Amazon.

  • NBC Accused of Censoring Demi Lovato's Anti-Trump Performance at Billboard Music Awards

    NBC

The Peacock has seemingly censored the ‘Commander In Chief’ performance by the former Disney darling as the original footage makes its way out on the internet.
    Oct 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – NBC officials appeared to censor Demi Lovato’s plea for fans to vote in the upcoming U.S. election during her performance at the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday (14Oct20) night.
The 28-year-old star took to the stage to perform her latest song, “Commander in Chief”, which takes aim at incumbent leader Donald Trump, with lines like, “Do you even know the truth? / We’re in a state of crisis, people are dyin’ / While you line your pockets deep.”
In footage obtained by TMZ, the word “vote” was splashed up on the stage behind her after she concluded the song but, in the final broadcast, the camera cut to a close up of the singer when the music stopped.

Sources told the outlet bosses felt that, because “Commander in Chief” was an anti-Trump song, the “vote” message was too clearly a call to vote against him. The network is also set to host a town hall with Trump on Thursday evening.
Lovato hasn’t held back in her criticism of the president and, while the track prompted an intense response on Instagram, with some fans slamming the star and suggesting her political stance could “ruin” her career, she insisted she “literally doesn’t care.”
“This isn’t about that. My career isn’t about that,” she told fans on Instagram. “I made a piece of art that stands for something I believe in. And I’m putting it out even at the risk of losing fans. I’ll take integrity in my work over sales any day.”

One devotee even wrote, “I’m personally ashamed to be a Lovatic right now but no matter how hard it is I’m not letting this song change my feelings about you especially after everything you have helped me with. I really hope this doesn’t ruin your career Demetria.”

The lyrics include the lines, “We were taught when we were young / If we fight for what’s right there won’t be justice for just some / We won’t give up, stand our ground / We’ll be in the streets while you’re bunkering down / Loud and proud, best believe / We’ll still take knee, while you’re Commander in Chief.”
