Zack Snyder Wants Bradley Cooper to Portray Him in Fan's Movie About the Making of 'Justice League'

    WENN/FayesVision

On the ‘Life is Short with Justin Long’ podcast, the ‘Army of the Dead’ director additionally suggests that Aaron Sorkin could write the script and Mark Ruffalo would play John ‘D.J.’ Des Jardin.

    Apr 29, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Director Zack Snyder has co-signed fan proposals to have a movie made all about the making of his “Justice League” revamp.

The filmmaker was forced to quit the original project and hand the reins to Joss Whedon following a family tragedy, but fans were less than impressed with the critically-mauled superhero blockbuster when it was released in 2017, and begged Snyder to release his full vision, instead.

Warner Bros. bosses eventually agreed to the plan, paving the way for the four-hour director’s cut to premiere on streaming service HBO Max in March.

Now Snyder reveals devotees have come up with an idea to turn the behind-the-scenes drama into a film of its own, and he’s on board with the thought of having Bradley Cooper portray him onscreen, if the suggested project ever comes to fruition.

“We’ve talked a lot about a movie, like a [making of] movie of this,” he shared on the “Life is Short with Justin Long” podcast.

      See also…

“They want Bradley Cooper to play me. I thought that was like, obviously, it made a lot of sense…!” he joked. “I was like, ‘But, we might have to pretty him up a little bit for this… A lot of working out…!’ ”

Snyder has even given thought to who could potentially play his right hand man, John ‘D.J.’ Des Jardin, “We always laugh about this, because in our little inner circle, D.J., who’s my visual effects supervisor, I think Mark Ruffalo’s gonna play him, that’ll be cool, and we’ll get [Aaron] Sorkin… to write the script!” he quipped.

The director admits the more he jokes about the whole premise, the more it sounds plausible.

“You know what, it is not [out of the realm of possibility],” Snyder shared. “I mean, look, they made The Social Network into a movie, I don’t know if anything happened in that movie, really, but trust me, a lot happened in this [situation]…!” I’m partly joking, I hope I’m joking, but Netflix will probably do it.”

And he thinks the only way Cooper would sign on to the project would be if he’s offered the opportunity to shoot it, too. “I should get him to direct it, probably, that’s the way to get it done…,” he reasoned, before laughing, “I’ll make the call…!”

Ryan Reynolds Has Cheeky Response to 'Mortal Kombat 2' Johnny Cage Casting Rumors

    WENN/Instar

The ‘Green Lantern’ actor puts together his reactions to fans’ speculation that he will be taking on the role in the sequel and his cellular service provider Mint Mobile beating out its competitors in one tweet.

    Apr 29, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Ryan Reynolds has killed two birds with one stone with his latest hilarious tweet. As he has been touted by fans to take on the role of Johnny Cage in “Mortal Kombat 2”, the Canadian-born actor has responded to the news by combining it with his reaction to the success of Mint Mobile.

In his Wednesday, April 28 tweet, the 44-year-old hunk posted a GIF of his face being edited into Johnny Cage’s image from the video game. The picture suggested that he has just knocked down his foe, with “Mint” and “Big Wireless” written on the video game health bars.

“What do I do with casting rumors and wireless competitors upset that @usnews just named @Mintmobile 2021’s best cell phone plan?” Reynolds wrote in the caption. He added, “Finish ’em!!”

Ryan Reynolds responded to rumors linking him to Johnny Cage role in ‘Mortal Kombat 2’.

The “Deadpool” star was bragging about Mint Mobile, the cellular service provider company which he co-owns, defeating its competitors on the list of best cell phone plans.

As for the “Mortal Kombat 2” casting rumors, Reynolds has been a popular pick to play Johnny Cage after the first movie hinted at his appearance in the hypothetical sequel. In the end of the martial arts fantasy film, Lewis Tan’s Cole Young is heading off to Hollywood where he may bump into the movie star.

Producer Todd Garner has also confirmed Cage’s appearance in the potential sequel and mentioned Reynolds as the kind of actor who might play the character. “Is it a cop out to all of a sudden have Ryan Reynolds – not him, but you know – as the lead felt a little disingenuous to me,” he said when addressing Cage’s exclusion in the first movie. “It’s super easy to bring him in a big, bombastic, fun way in the second. And he deserves that as a character. I love these characters, so we thought hard about it.”

“Mortal Kombat” has become the latest hit in North America box office following its release last week, debuting at No. 1 on the chart with $23.3 million despite not-so-glowing reviews from critics. The movie exceeded industry expectations with its opening gross and has accumulated $51.1 million worldwide.

Zack Snyder Plots DC Movie Marathon to Raise Funds for Suicide Prevention

    WENN

The ‘Justice League’ director plans to host a viewing party for ‘Man of Steel’, ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, and ‘Justice League’ to raise money for good cause.

    Apr 29, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Director Zack Snyder is planning to stage a mammoth movie marathon of his “Justice League” trilogy to celebrate the superhero franchise with fans and raise money for a good cause.

The filmmaker recently debuted his four-hour director’s cut of “Justice League”, and now he would like to screen it as part of a special fundraising event, where attendees would also get to view his 2013 Superman blockbuster “Man of Steel”, and 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” in one weekend.

Snyder, who stepped down from completing “Justice League” following his daughter’s suicide, is just waiting for the COVID pandemic to blow over so he can give fans a big viewing to remember.

“Just the trilogy now, if you use the Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition, which is the director’s cut edition, that’s a solid three hours, and then Justice League is four, so the trilogy is nine hours now, so it’s a pretty good little world, if you really wanna go (there),” he explained.

      See also…

“I’m hoping in the fall to do a fundraiser for suicide prevention where we’re gonna play all three IMAX – because I did complete an IMAX version of Justice League – and so our plan is in the fall, all the fans to get together and do like, a weekend at Universal CityWalk (Hollywood attraction) or somewhere with a giant theatre, and everyone flies in from all over the world, all the hardcore fans, and we just do all three movies and just go nuts (sic).”

Snyder came up with the idea for the trilogy screening event as a way to give back to fans who have really supported him throughout his family tragedy and the drama surrounding the original “Justice League” release, which was critically-mauled after Joss Whedon was brought onboard to complete the 2017 film.

The overwhelmingly-negative fan reaction prompted devotees to call on Snyder to share his own cut of the DC Comics film, which premiered in March (21) as “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”.

Appearing on the “Life Is Short” with Justin Long podcast, he said of the opportunity to share his vision with the world, “It was incredibly cathartic and we really all did a lot of healing through this process, and literally a lot of the fans have really become, you’re not supposed to do this, but they’re now friends of mine…”

“There’s a core group of them that really are amazing, they’ve raised so much money for suicide prevention and mental health awareness, it’s unbelievable…”

Director Reacts After 'Paddington 2' Beats Classic Film 'Citizen Kane' as Best-Rated Movie

    Warner Bros. Pictures

The second ‘Paddington’ feature film has become the greatest-ever movie on Rotten Tomatoes after Orson Welles’ 1941 drama lost its 100 per cent fresh rating.

    Apr 29, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
“Paddington 2” is now rated the greatest ever film on Rotten Tomatoes after “Citizen Kane” lost its 100 per cent fresh rating on the review-aggregator website.

Orson Welles’ 1941 drama – which examines the life and legacy of publishing magnate Charles Foster Kane, played by Welles himself, a character inspired by American media barons including William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer held the honour for many years but its rating slipped after a negative review from 80 years ago was added to the site.

“Citizen Kane” – widely considered by critics to be one of the greatest movies of all-time – now has a 99 per cent rating and has now been surpassed by 2017 children’s film “Paddington 2”, starring Hugh Grant and Sally Hawkins, which is based on Michael Bond’s literary character Paddington Bear, as the best rated movie.

The negative review added was first published in The Chicago Tribune newspaper in May 1941 and the dip in the movie’s rating was first noticed by Twitter user @Caulimovirus in a post that has since received nearly 21,000 likes.

Paul King, who wrote and directed both “Paddington” films, told The Hollywood Reporter that while it was “lovely” to be included on a list with the iconic movie, he won’t be getting carried away.

“It’s extremely lovely to be on any list, which includes Citizen Kane, but it is obviously quite an eccentric list that goes from Citizen Kane to Paddington 2, so I’ll try not to take it too seriously,” he told the publication. “I won’t let it go too much to my head and immediately build my Xanadu. But I have been cooking up a model just in case.”

“Citizen Kane” has recently come to public attention after the release of David Fincher’s movie “Mank”, which tells the story of screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz and his development of the film’s screenplay.

Anthony Mackie Hasn't 'Heard Anything' About 'Captain America 4' From Marvel Studios

    Marvel Studios

While words have spread that the studio is developing another Captain America movie with Malcolm Spellman as the screenwriter, Mackie reveals he first learned of the news from a stranger in a grocery store.

    Apr 28, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Marvel Studios is known for being extra secretive about its projects, to the point that it sometimes has to keep the stars in the dark about certain details of their movies. The latest actor to experience this is apparently Anthony Mackie. While the world had heard about the studio’s plans to make “Captain America 4”, he had to find out the news from a complete stranger.

In an interview with EW on Tuesday, April 27, the 42-year-old shared, “I literally found out yesterday in a grocery store.” He continued, “The checkout guy named Dwayne, a cool cat, he’s like, ‘Yo, man. Is this real?! [holds up a cellphone.] I’m like, ‘I haven’t heard anything.’ ”

While he’s “excited” about the future of his character, the Sam Wilson depicter claimed that he has not “heard anything” from the studio about the project. “That’s what I love about working for Marvel,” he joked. “They call you, they’re like, ‘Come to L.A. We wanna tell you what’s going on.’ So, I’m excited to see what happens, but I haven’t heard anything.”

Mackie’s Sam Wilson was revealed to be new Captain America in the season finale of the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”. Speaking of filming the game-changing scene while wearing a new suit consisting of “10 or 12 pieces,” he recalled, “We were in downtown Atlanta, in the middle of Atlantic Station, surrounded by apartment buildings and condos and doing a huge fight ,sequence and nobody took pictures. It was crazy.”

      See also…

The fact that he’s now the official Captain America hasn’t really sunk in yet for the actor. He said, “I don’t know what I expected, but it’s definitely not what I thought it would be. I guess I foresaw something that was much more celebratory than just being ‘Anthony with a new Twitter account.’ ”

Of how he celebrated it, the “Avengers: Endgame” star joked that he wants a Captain America parade in his home of New Orleans, complete with beads and oysters. But he settled for a cake the crew made for him, one of a small Cap figure on top of a golf course.

Mackie then got sentimental when talking about the people he has been working with for the Marvel movies and the series. “It’s the same people I’ve been working with on these movies for eight years now,” he said. “So to go from my first day to now becoming Cap with the same people was really special. Everybody shared in it, from the props team to wardrobe, from the camera department to the people in the office. It was really a collective effort.”

“The Hurt Locker” star also explained how his version of Cap will be different from the previous iterations, played by Chris Evans and Wyatt Russell. “It was more so about him talking them down and trying to communicate with them what they were doing was right, but they way they were doing it was wrong,” he divulged. “Remember, he’s a counselor and he’s a regular guy who just happened to become an Avenger. There’s no superpowers, there’s no super-suit, there’s no super-serum. He’s just a guy. I love the idea of him moving through life as Captain America, as someone who brings peace and change instead of destruction and physical force.”

Details of “Captain America 4” have not been revealed yet, but The Hollywood Reporter said that “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” showrunner Malcolm Spellman as the screenwriter is working on the script with Dalan Musson, a staff writer on the Disney+ series.

Michael B. Jordan Responds to Black Superman Rumors

    WENN/Instar

The Erik Killmonger depicter in ‘Black Panther’ addresses speculation that he’s going to play a black Superman after it’s announced that J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates are developing a Man of Steel reboot.

    Apr 28, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Michael B. Jordan has finally spoken up on rumors that link him to an upcoming Superman movie. The actor has been touted by fans to play a black Superman after it was announced that J. J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates are developing a Man of Steel reboot.

Speaking to Jake’s Takes, the 34-year-old hunk admitted he was flattered by all the fans’ talks. “You hear the whispers and the rumors and stuff like that, it’s just a compliment. I appreciate people that think about me in that type of way for these roles,” he said while promoting his new movie “Without Remorse”.

Noting that nothing has been confirmed about his supposed role in the movie, he added, “I don’t really have anything more to kind of give on that, other than it’s just flattering and I appreciate it. Whoever they get and if it goes that way, I think it’ll be an interesting thing to see.”

Jordan gave similar response when talking to Cinepop about the upcoming Superman movie. “I don’t know what is really going on with [Black Superman] in particular. But everybody’s want and desire to see black leads and heroic roles is really important,” he said about the project being greenlit.

      See also…

He continued sharing his two cents on the significance of a black superhero, “Representation is important… There’s so many opportunities with different IP, different properties, different characters that never got the light of day. And there are certain ones that should just be where they are. So let’s just see how things shake out.”

Abrams has been tapped to revamp the Superman franchise with Coates writing the script. The “Lost” co-creator said when the project was announced in February, “There is a new, powerful and moving Superman story yet to be told. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with the brilliant Mr. Coates to help bring that story to the big screen, and we’re beyond thankful to the team at Warner Bros. for the opportunity.”

Coates added, “To be invited into the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros., DC Films and Bad Robot is an honor. I look forward to meaningfully adding to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythic hero.”

There is no word on plot details and casting, but The Hollywood Reporter said that the aim is for a black Superman to be introduced, something which Jordan had pitched back in 2019. Henry Cavill has played the last iteration of Superman, with him reprising his role in “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”.

Patrick Dempsey to Show Off Singing Skills in 'Enchanted' Sequel

    WENN

The former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor is set to show his vocal abilities for the upcoming movie ‘Disenchanted’, marking the first time ever he sings in a feature film.

    Apr 28, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Patrick Dempsey will show off his vocal abilities in the upcoming sequel to “Enchanted”.

The actor has been tapped to star in “Disenchanted”, and the flick will mark the star’s first public singing gig of his entire career, he has confirmed.

“I will be singing for the first time. I’ve never ever sung publicly – for a reason,” he told Variety. “So bear with me.”

But Patrick hopes “fans embrace it,” adding, “But they’ve set me up for success and the lyrics are really fun. The numbers have really great choreography. And the premise is going to be interesting.”

Patrick, Amy Adams, and James Marsden are returning for the movie along with Idina Menzel – who he insists he won’t be duetting with.

“I don’t sing with her,” he stated before teasing there are “a lot of cool numbers in this.”

Maya Rudolph, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jayma Mays are the latest performers to join the cast of the Disney+ sequel, with sources telling Deadline the trio will play villains.

During the interview, Patrick Dempsey also talked about his “Grey’s Anatomy” return, calling it a “beautiful way” to leave the show.

The actor – who played Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd in the hit TV series – recently made a surprise return to the show, when Dr. Meredith Grey dreamed of herself and Derek finally having their wedding on a beach, but Patrick has suggested he won’t be making another comeback.

      See also…

He shared, “I thought it was a beautiful way to close it. The intention was to really give people some hope because they are such an iconic couple.”

“We’ve lost so many people this year, the thought that we’d have angels hovering around us taking care of us is a good message to send out in such a bleak world that we’re living in. So for all of us, it was a beautiful ending to this story.”

“I’m so grateful that I did it and happy that the fans really loved it.”

Patrick and Ellen Pompeo – who plays Meredith – used his comeback to highlight the importance of wearing a mask amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And the actor admitted that shooting his final scenes was an emotional experience, telling Variety, “We all cried at the beginning and we hugged each other.”

“It was really for us to get the message out there to wear a mask, take care of yourself. Ellen and I were like, ‘What can we do together to make some impact here?’ ”

“That was in the spring around this time last year. It just was a positive action that reverberates into more positive action.”

Asked if there’s another scenario in which he could make a comeback, Patrick replied, “Who knows? Never say never with this show, right?”

“I’m glad we did it this year. And Krista Vernoff did a fantastic job telling the story. It was just a great way to give people some hope.”

Dolph Lundgren Slapped With Lawsuit Over Blown Documentary Deal

    Instagram

British filmmaker Chee Keong Cheung seeks to take ‘The Expendables’ star to court for a breach of contract, claiming that the latter went back on his words on a project chronicling a year in his life.

    Apr 27, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Action star Dolph Lundgren is facing legal action for allegedly reneging on a deal to take part in a “fly-on-the-wall” documentary just before the project was complete.

British filmmaker Chee Keong Cheung has filed court papers in Los Angeles accusing “The Expendables” star of breach of contract, after entering an agreement to chronicle a year in the life of the actor in January 2020.

According to the suit, filed on Friday, April 23 and obtained by the New York Post, the deal was made directly between the two parties, without the involvement of representatives, with Lundgren allowing Cheung and his team to capture his every move on camera.

As part of their contract, Cheung would recoup his costs, and then split all revenues from the documentary with Lundgren.

      See also…

However, after accumulating more than 100 hours of material, Lundgren’s manager got in touch with Cheung in October 2020 and claimed the martial arts star had changed his mind about the documentary, instead wanting to work on a similar project with a team from Canada’s Score G. Productions.

The actor subsequently refused to continue shooting with Cheung, “As a result, Cheung was denied the benefit of the bargain he struck with Lundgren, denied the opportunity to profit from the year of work he devoted to the documentary, and left holding the bag on all the costs,” his lawyers state in the filing.

Now the filmmaker is taking Lundgren to court, and demanding a trial by jury.

The pair originally met in 2015 on the set of upcoming movie “Malevolence”, which Cheung co-wrote and Lundgren directed.

Representatives for Lundgren have yet to comment on the legal battle.
