    Instagram

The ‘Cardigan’ singer has taped her acceptance speech after being honored with Songwriter of the Year kudo at the second annual Apple Music Awards for her latest album ‘Folklore’.

    Nov 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift’s Apple Music Awards Songwriter of the Year honor is really special for the “Cardigan” star, because her talents for tunes have helped keep her in touch with fans during an awful 2020.
The star filmed an acceptance speech for her latest gong win on Thursday, November 19 and confessed it’s an award that means an awful lot to her.
“Winning Songwriter of the Year in any capacity in any year would be so exciting, but I think it’s really special because this particular year was a year where I really feel like songwriting was the one thing that was able to keep me connected to fans that I wasn’t able to see in concert,” the “Love Story” hitmaker said in her speech.

“I wasn’t able to reach out my hand and touch somebody’s hand in the front row, I wasn’t able to take pictures with fans, so this, it means a lot to me,” she continued. “My songwriting, and the way that fans respond to the songs I write, and the kinda dialogue back and forth, and that kind of emotional exchange, is what I feel like has really kept me going this year (sic). And I really want to say thank you to the fans for that.”

The second annual Apple Music Awards also saw Lil Baby collecting the Artist of the Year prize. About the honor, “The Bigger Picture” rapper said, “This year has changed me a lot. Now that I’m an artist, I feel like my voice can get heard through my music and I needed to say something. And my fans listened. So thank you to my fans and thank you to Apple Music for giving me a special way to connect to my fans.”
Megan Thee Stallion, in the meantime, was awarded with Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and Roddy Ricch claimed the final two prizes, Top Song of the Year and Top Album of the Year, for his song “The Box” and his LP “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial”.

Taylor Swift Rips Scooter Braun for His Fishy Offer After Selling Her Masters

    WENN/Avalon/Adriana M. Barraza

The ‘Lovers’ songstress claims the SB Projects founder asked her to sign ‘an ironclad NDA’ before she was even allowed to look at the financial records of BMLG.

    Nov 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Scooter Braun has reignited a feud with Taylor Swift after his company Ithaca Holdings LLC sold her masters to a private equity firm called Shamrock Holdings for over $300 million. The deal, which closed a couple of weeks ago, includes Big Machine’s client roster namely Sheryl Crow, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, Rascal Flatts and Lady A (previously known as Lady Antebellum).
After Variety broke report of the deal, the country-turned-pop superstar took to Twitter to respond to the second sale of master rights to her first 6 albums in less than two years. In a statement posted on Monday, November 16, the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter called out Braun for his alleged fishy attempt to sell her masters back to her.
Swift, who was trying to acquire her masters back for years, revealed that Braun tried to make her sign “an ironclad NDA” before she was even allowed to look at the financial records of BMLG. “I would have to sign a document that would silence me forever before I could even have a chance to bid on my own work,” she wrote.
“My legal team said that this is absolutely NOT normal, and they’ve never seen an NDA like this presented unless it was to silence an assault accuser by paying them off. He would never even quote my team a price,” the “Cardigan” singer said, before concluding, “These master recordings were not for sale to me.”
Swift was contacted by Shamrock Holdings after they acquired rights to her masters. Though she appreciated the company’s kind intention and was “open to the possibility of a partnership with Shamrock,” she didn’t pursue a deal further after learning that Braun and Ithaca Holdings will continue to reap profits off of her work for many years.

In her statement, Swift also revealed that she has “recently begun re-recording my older music and it has already proven to be both exciting and creatively fulfilling.” She teased, “I have plenty of surprises in store.”

Taylor Swift responded after Scooter Braun sold her master recordings.
Swift additionally posted a screenshot of a letter she sent to Shamrock “for transparency and clarification,” while thanking her fans for supporting her “through this ongoing saga.”

The pop star shared a screenshot of her letter to Shamrock Holdings.
Swift has received support, including from fellow artist Sara Bareilles, after Braun sold her master recordings to Shamrock. The “King of Anything” singer tweeted in response to Variety’s report, “I will never not feel like this is just f**king robbery. Greed is a virus too and it’s everywhere. F**k that. @taylorswift13 sending you love.”

Taylor Swift Reveals How Aaron Dessner Played Big Part in Early Release of 'Folklore'

    Instagram

When speaking to Paul McCartney about her collaboration with The National co-founder, the ‘Cardigan’ singer spills the idea began with their conversation during a chance encounter in 2019.

    Nov 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift was compelled to write and record her new album “Folklore” following a conversation with The National’s Aaron Dessner.
The superstar, who unexpectedly released her eighth LP in July, tells Paul McCartney in an interview for Rolling Stone that her collaboration with Dessner came about following a chance encounter in 2019.
“I had met him at a concert a year before, and I had a conversation with him, asking him how he writes. It’s my favourite thing to ask people who I’m a fan of. And he had an interesting answer,” she explains.
“He said, ‘All the band members live in different parts of the world. So I make tracks. And I send them to our lead singer, Matt (Berninger), and he writes the top line.’ I just remember thinking, ‘That is really efficient’,” recalls the ME! singer. “And I kind of stored it in my brain as a future idea for a project.”

      See also…

When the pandemic hit, Taylor emailed Aaron Dessner and asked, “Do you think you would want to work during this time? Because my brain is all scrambled, and I need to make something, even if we’re just kind of making songs that we don’t know what will happen…”.
“And it turned out he had been writing instrumental tracks to keep from absolutely going crazy during the pandemic as well, so he sends me this file of probably 30 instrumentals, and the first one I opened ended up being a song called Cardigan,” she shares, referring to the first single from “Folklore”.

“It really happened rapid-fire like that. He’d send me a track; he’d make new tracks, add to the folder; I would write the entire top line for a song, and he wouldn’t know what the song would be about, what it was going to be called, where I was going to put the chorus,” she remembers. “I had originally thought, ‘Maybe I’ll make an album in the next year, and put it out in January or something’, but it ended up being done and we put it out in July.”
The experience, she says, has completely altered her view on songwriting, because “there are no rules anymore”. Taylor smiles: “If you take away all the parameters, what do you make? And I guess the answer is ‘Folklore’.”

Taylor Swift Enjoyed One of the Best Nights of Her Life Jamming With Paul McCartney

    Rolling Stone Magazine/Mary McCartney

The ‘Lover’ singer recalls spending one of the most fun nights of her life partying with the former Fab Four and having a blast playing music at the celebrity gathering.

    Nov 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift enjoyed one of the “best nights of her life” jamming with Paul McCartney.
In a joint interview for Rolling Stone magazine, the pop star calls “Hey Jude” singer Paul “the catalyst for the most fun times ever” as she laments the fact the COVID pandemic got in the way of a planned joint performance at the Glastonbury festival this summer (20).
“If this year had gone the way that we thought it was going to go, you and I would have played Glastonbury,” she says. “And I remember thinking it would have been so much fun because the times that I’ve run into you, I correlate with being some of the most fun nights of my life.”
“I was at a party with you, when everybody just started playing music… I was playing (Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters song) Best of You, but I was playing it on piano, and he didn’t recognise it until about halfway through.”

Grohl, who was also at the gathering, joined Taylor on drums, but the “Let It Be” star admits that when it comes to impromptu performances, he needs encouragement to get up onstage, noting, “Reese Witherspoon was like, ‘Are you going to sing?’ I said ‘Oh, I don’t know.’ She said, ‘You’ve got to, yeah!’ She’s bossing me around.”
“I love that person, because the party does not turn musical without that person,” says Taylor, adding, “If nobody says, ‘Can you guys play music?’ we’re not going to invite ourselves up onstage at whatever living-room party it is.”
“I seem to remember Woody Harrelson got on the piano, and he starts playing Let It Be, and I’m thinking, ‘I can do that better,’ ” laughs Paul. “So I said, ‘Come on, move over, Woody.’ So we’re both playing it. It was really nice.…”
“I love people like Dan Aykroyd, who’s just full of energy and he loves his music so much, but he’s not necessarily a musician, but he just wanders around the room, just saying, ‘You got to get up, got to get up, do some stuff,’ ” he adds.

Taylor Swift Approves of Democratic Ad Using Her Song

    WENN

The chart-topping singer/songwriter has granted permission to Democratic politician Eric Swalwell to use her track ‘Only the Young’ for a voting campaign.

    Oct 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift has given U.S. politician Eric Swalwell permission to use her music in a new ad aimed at boosting voter turn-out ahead of the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
The pop star’s track “Only the Young” features in the latest ad for the Democrat’s Remedy PAC organisation, which also features a quote about voter suppression from vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
The video includes a montage of powerful social and political scenes that took place within the past four years under current President Donald Trump’s first term.

Taylor has yet to issue a comment about granting Swalwell access to her song, but he took to Twitter to thank her for the thumbs up.

“Up there’s the finish line. Our future is worth our fight. Thank you, @taylorswift13, for voicing what #OnlyTheYoung can do. Let’s run!” Representative Swalwell wrote on Friday (30Oct20).
Harris was also impressed, adding, “Thank you @TaylorSwift13 and my friend @EricSwalwell for showing young people what’s at stake in this election.”
Taylor also contributed a cover of Tom Petty’s “American Girl” to a video package for the Democratic National Convention, but “Only the Young” marks the first time she has authorised her original music for political use.
The singer became openly political in 2018 and most recently endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala in the U.S. presidential race, making it clear she was fervently anti-Trump.
“Everyone deserves a government that takes global health risks seriously and puts the lives of its people first,” Taylor said in her endorsement, published in V Magazine. “The only way we can begin to make things better is to choose leaders who are willing to face these issues and find ways to work through them… I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election. Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs.”

Taylor Swift Calls 'Red' Her 'Only True Breakup Album'

    Instagram

While many of her songs are rumored to be about her exes, the ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ singer insists her 2012 album was her ‘only true breakup album.’

    Oct 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift only has one “true breakup album” – 2012’s “Red”.
Since her 2006 debut album, Swift has built a reputation for penning songs directed at her famous exes, which include Harry Styles and Calvin Harris, but she insists not all of her albums are centred on heartbreak.
In a trailer for Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums podcast, she opens up on “Red”, which comes in at number 99, and calls the record, “My only true breakup album.”
“Every other album has flickers of different things,” she says. “This was an album that I wrote specifically about a pure, absolute, to-the-core heartbreak.”

      See also…

“Red” features several massive hits, including lead single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and her massive hit “I Knew You Were Trouble”.
Fans have speculated that the album is inspired by Swift’s split with actor Jake Gyllenhaal, with the track “All Too Well” referencing “a little kid with glasses” as well as a sister – believed to be his actor sibling Maggie Gyllenhaal. Taylor has never confirmed the rumours.
Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums will be available exclusively on Amazon Music and will begin streaming weekly episodes on 10 November.
Taylor Swift once explained why she used the word “Red” for the title, “All the different emotions that are written about on this album are all pretty much about the kind of tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships that I’ve experienced in the last two years. All those emotions – spanning from intense love, intense frustration, jealousy, confusion, all of that – in my mind, all those emotions are red. You know, there’s nothing in between. There’s nothing beige about any of those feelings.”

“Cardigan” is lifted off Taylor Swift’s eight studio album “Folklore” which was released during the lockdown. She said it’s about “a lost romance and why young love is often fixed so permanently within our memories.”
The song was nominated for Song of Summer at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this year while the music video is vying for Best Visual Effects at the upcoming U.K. Music Video Awards. It also reached the pinnacle on Billboard Hot 100, marking her sixth chart-topping single in the United States.
In the same week, “Folklore” debuted at No. 1 on Hot 200, leading her to become the first artist ever to debut atop both Hot charts simultaneously. On top of that, it broke Guinness World Record for attracting the most day-one streams of an album on Spotify for a female artist.
